Plant Pest || Repotting Pharaohs Mask Colocasia & Canary Wing Begonia || Red Date Scale & Whitefly
This week I talked about red date scale and whitefly. Red date scale happens sometimes on a few palm species, this time, it is on my pygmy date palm. Whiteflies are obnoxious, but luckily not as hard to control, especially in this case where they were on a crape myrtle that I don't want anymore, so I just cut it down. Ultimately when it comes to plant pest control I like to start small with soaps and oils and work my way up if those are not working. I did spend a considerable amount of time talking about systemic insecticides and why I try to avoid them if possible. Then I repotted or transplanted a couple of plants. The Pharaohs mask colocasia was a transplanted and I talked about how to grow the pharaohs mask colocasia. Then I repotted a canary winged begonia.
