I’ve had a wonderful time decorating my little San Diego craftsman home for the holidays. My North Park home was built in 1921, so it’s just over 100 years old. I treasure living in an old house with hardwood floors, high ceilings and special molding around the windows and doors.

For the holidays, I keep the decorations simple, homey and old fashioned. I start with cutting evergreen branches and picking oranges, tangerines and pomegranates from the garden for display and to bring in that special smell of Christmas.

Then I get my little harp out and start practicing songs. Some songs I first have to compose as I don’t have sheet music for all of them, especially some of the German songs I grew up with. The simple, clear sound so relaxing and calming.

Titles of the songs I played on the harp:
I’ll be Home for Christmas
Süsser die Glocken Nie Klingen
Leise Rieselt der Schnee
Blue Christmas
Jingle Bell Rock
Hark the Herald Angels Sing

The yummy cookies were baked by my sister who lives in Switzerland.

You can check parts 1 and 2 for information on the little harp and listen to more songs:
