In both cases, the companies gave into demands and paid millions of dollars in bitcoins to cyber criminals. Is that the end of the story? Probably not, according to Eric Cole, an ex-CIA hacker and author of, “Cyber Crisis: Protecting Your Business from Real Threats in the Virtual World." He describes the disturbing reality of the ransomware shakedown racket.
