You Are What You Eat: Let Food Be Your Medicine
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” A phrase that has been attributed to the Father of Medicine himself, Hippocrates.
What you eat has a significant impact on your overall health. According to research, food habits influence illness risk. While some foods can aggravate chronic health disorders, others have powerful curative and preventive qualities. As a result, many individuals believe that food is medicine.
As we know, unlike medications, foods are not isolated compounds. Every meal we consume includes a symphony of vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals (plant components that may lessen the risk of disease) that combine to help fend against disease.
However, the tale is more complicated. Taking the advice of our ancient Greek doctor, this video will show you how food becomes medicine.
