Kim Basinger has lived in a couple of stunning homes over the years as you might expect.
This includes her home in the LA suburb of Woodland Hills where she further bought the home right next
door. Kim felt more than comfortable at her little compound it seems because she's been living in
this residence since the late 70s. Also Michael and I just dropped our very own house tour of
our new home we moved into this year. So go ahead and subscribe to our family channel if you want
to see where we're living and more of what we're up to. Oh and once you watch, let me know what
you think of our home. In these videos we don't reveal any addresses and even though I've done
a house tour of my own place please do not show up at any private residences because it's not safe
for anyone. Kim Basinger is an American actress and former model who's been working in Hollywood
since the late 70s. She got her star guest starring in some classic TV series like Charlie's Angels
as well as Macmillan and Wife before launching her film career that would come to include hits
like the unofficially official James Bond film Never Say Never Again as well as Tim Burton's
Batman and of course LA Confidential. In fact her performance in that latter film would land
Kim an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress which gave her the unique distinction of becoming
the first actress to win an Academy Award who also posed for Playboy. Following on the heels
of that win Kim would treat herself to a special gift a brand new home in the LA suburb of Woodland
Hills. And guess who her next door neighbor was? Herself. That's right Kim wound up purchasing
the house right next door to her current home. Unfortunately that original home has become more
like a prison for Kim over the past few years as she's battled against a severe case of agoraphobia
something she's just only beginning to deal with now. So today we're gonna take a peek inside not
only those two homes but also the real world location that was Kim's home in LA Confidential
a stunning mansion that recently hit the market with a wild price tag. Hey guys it's Kara back
with another exclusive house tour here on Famous Entertainment today looking at the homes of Kim
Basinger. Don't forget to like, subscribe and hit me up on Instagram to chat and now let's get into
this video. To kick things off we're gonna start with Kim's second home in the LA neighborhood of
Woodland Hills. A lovely and classic family residence that Kim scooped up in 2001 for $540,000.
This single-story cottage style home boasts 2,581 square feet and sits at the end of a cul-de-sac.
Visitors can enter through a gated driveway with a custom motorized gate. From there you can take
in the home's exterior which features a metal roof with wood siding topped off with weathered paint
that's probably seen some better days. But at least there's also a large and welcoming front
port to offset that and lead guests inside. Moving on to the interior you'll find dark stained wooden
flooring, wood framed windows as well as updated electrical with a three-zone climate control system
throughout this two-bedroom two-and-a-half bath home. Over in the living room guests will be blown
away by the cathedral style ceiling with embedded skylights while the nearby family room offers a
charming vibe with a bunch of hidden storage like a built-in media center and bookshelves. Up on the
very top floor there's also a finished air-conditioned attic which is accessible by a ladder
while the attached garage comes complete with barn style sliding doors, more skylights, and a large
sink. Finally if you're looking to get a little R&R there's also a massive screened-in porch that
overlooks a private tree shielded backyard where three rock bedded streams converge and flow into
a picturesque pond. It might not be massive but for just over $500,000 in Los Angeles Kim got
herself a deal with this place. After owning this home for close to 15 years Kim decided to let it
go in 2017 when she sold it for $974,000. While that's more than double her original investment if
I'm being honest, I'm kind of shocked that she wasn't able to get even more for it. That exterior
paint job must have really needed an extra coat. Alright let's check out Kim's second home and
for that we won't have to go too far because it's right next door. When Kim was just starting off
with her Hollywood career in the late 70s she picked herself up this humble home for an unbelievably
cheap $154,000. I mean, I know this was the 70s but still. Despite being about 4 times less
expensive than Kim's neighbouring home, this place is actually a bit bigger than her secondary
property, clocking in at around 3,251 square feet. It's reported to be a ranch-style home but there
really isn't that much info out there in terms of the home's details. But what I can talk about
is how this home turned into a prison for Kim over the past few years. From about as far back as she
can remember, Kim has always had trouble with speaking in public. Even when she was a kid,
she would sometimes faint when forced to give a speech or presentation. As she grew older,
she was able to keep those fears in check but they never went away completely, and they ended
up resurfacing at a very inconvenient time, when she was winning her Oscar for Best Supporting
Actress in 1998. Kim says that as she took the stage that night to accept her statue,
she was terrified at the prospect of accepting it in front of so many people. After all,
millions of people were watching all over the world. Despite her hesitation,
Kim managed to put on a brave face and do what needed to be done. But it still awoke old,
dormant demons. Years later, after filming her appearance in the 50 shades of grey series and
while shopping at her local grocery store in LA, Kim was suddenly hit with a crippling anxiety
attack. She found her way home, but after she did so, she wouldn't leave its confines again
for a very long time. I'm talking multiple years. And what's more, no one outside of her family had
any idea that this was happening. Not until she began to discuss her illness with Jada Pinkett
Smith on a recent episode of Red Table Talk. While explaining what was going on, Kim would
reveal, I wouldn't leave the house, I would no longer go to dinner. It's like something just
completely shuts down within you, and you have to relearn everything. I had to relearn to drive,
and for many years I would not go through the tunnels of Malibu. It was Kim's daughter Ireland,
the child that she shares with her former husband Alec Baldwin, who managed to finally get through
to her mother. And she became a significant source of strength for her, bringing Kim back out of her
shell and giving her the encouragement that she needed to share her experiences with others.
So at the very least, it sounds like this story is going to have a happy ending. But since this
is a house twirl, I don't quite want to end things there. Instead, I'm going to take you guys inside
the jaw-dropping real world house that Kim spent so much time in while filming her Academy Award
winning role in LA Confidential. One potentially very lucky film fan could wind up not only becoming
a permanent LA resident, but also find themselves living in a little piece of film history. You know,
if that same film fan just so happens to have 7.5 million dollars lying around,
because that's how much the house owned by Kim's character Lynn Bracken in LA Confidential is now
going for. This stunning Spanish style mansion sits in the wealthy enclave known as Hancock Park
and boasts 5,000 square feet of living space and contains basically everything that you need to
live like a real-life A-lister and then-sim. This home not only features 4 beds and 5 baths,
it also has a ton of natural light coming in through tall, airy windows as well as a bunch
of French doors and archways that all lead directly outside. Up front, the original
hand-carved wooden front door opens straight into the home's spectacular two-story grave room,
one that was featured in so many of those sultry LA Confidential scenes. The eye-catching ornate
black-finished staircase leads up to a mezzanine floor as well as a doorway that branches off to
three of the home's bedrooms, including a gigantic primary suite. Meanwhile, underneath the mezzanine
is an arched doorway that leads into an elegant informal dining room. Basically, this house is
an entertainer's dream, especially with its multitude of wide-open spaces, terraces, patios,
and manicured lawns. There's even an entirely detached guest house right next to the pool and
spa combo that boasts two further bedrooms, including a fully modernized kitchen, bathroom,
and secluded rooftop sundeck all on its own. Well, I think that's gonna bring our house tour
to a close. What did you think about Kim Basinger's home? And would you be willing to drop
nearly 8 million dollars on the LA Confidential place? Or would you rather live your life in more
humbler, smaller homes like Kim has? Let us know in the comments down below. As usual, thanks for
