Renting a KIMONO in TOKYO

Hi guys, we're here today at Yay Kimono Rental in Asakusa. I'm here with Kristi. We're gonna put on kimono and take pictures around Asakusa, so we're super excited. So excited. Have you worn a kimono before? No, only yukata. Oh my gosh. Yes, very exciting. I've worn a kimono one time, four years ago, so I'm so excited to wear one again. Yay! So we picked our kimonos and we're so excited because now we get to go get dressed in our kimonos. And we also got to pick a bag, they have so many you can choose from. Oh, it's really this year. Oh my gosh. It's like they knew we were coming. Oh wow, I'm so excited. First we put on traditional undergarments, susoyoke, which is a slip, and harajuban, which is like a thin camisole. Next comes the nagajuban, which is a thin silk robe that's only meant to be seen at the collar of the kimono. Then she ties it closed with thin cotton sashes called koshihimo. Next is the first of two datejime, which secures the nagajuban and begins to form the ideal cylinder-like body shape. Finally it's time to put on the kimono. I chose a gorgeous striped one with red flowers that I thought was a little unique and would look really pretty against the red and black backdrops of Sensoji Temple. My dresser expertly tied it together with more cotton sashes, or koshihimo, and the second datejime. Next is a firm flexible board called obiita that goes under the obi to prevent creasing or folding. Picking an obi was so hard. I knew I wanted something red, but I thought some of them were a bit too busy. So I was really happy when I finally found the perfect plain red one. Oh my gosh. I might even want to take a look and see the hairstyle. My hair is a little short. It's okay, it doesn't matter. Oh, okay. I don't have bangs. But the braid is really pretty. Christy's getting her obi. Looks amazing. Oh my gosh, it's so pretty. Yeah, ours totally go together. Right? I feel like our pictures together would look really nice. Oh, I actually love this one. It has butterflies on it. That's really amazing. Oh, you love butterflies. I do. Wow. It's so pretty. I picked two flowers now. Same. I want to do more. I want to do it again already. I would never have been able to do this to myself. It looks so pretty. That is so cute. Yay, we're almost ready. Almost ready to hit the town. Yeah, our outfits go together. Right? I think so too. I'm very impressed. I can't believe I have a side ponytail. I didn't know I had enough hair. We're ready. We have on kimono. I'm so happy. Me too. Yay. And now we have to find our photographer that we hired for the day. That we hired for the day. He was very expensive. Yes, he was expensive, but... He does good work. Worth it. So cute. Those colors are perfect for you. Hi. Wow, we're nailing it. We're doing so good. Yay. Wow, you look so pretty. That hair accessory on the right is stunning. Yes, yes. It's so pretty. Wow. This is so exciting. I love it. We've got the sky tree in the background. This is so fun. I forgot how much fun. Literally just wandering. And then just being like, look at me. Where's our photographer? Where is he? The photo shoot has begun. We've got a very dedicated photographer. Wow. This is the life. Wow. It's so windy. Yeah, okay. We have a production director. Oh, wow. Amazing. Yes. Our photo shoot. It's very nice. He's showing us all of the locations that we should go to. We're going to get an omikuji and get our fortune. So it's just 100 yen. Wish us good luck. We'll tell you what fortune we get. It said to shake the box politely while praying for my wish. Okay. This is 85. I just got the best fortune. Okay, so it says, it's the best fortune. Even if your desire will be slow to come, it's better for you not to be anxious so much. You will gradually become famous and peaceful. Perfect. Your wishes will be realized. I feel so lucky that I got my good fortune. What fortune did you get? It's good fortune, but it's not good. It's like horrible, all horrible things. Oh, no. Okay, go.
