Visit Rapid City | Mount Rushmore Enhancements

Mount Rushmore National Memorial is filled with history and adventure. With the recent construction happening on the Avenue of Flags, Grand View Terrace, Amphitheater and Lincoln Borglum Visitor Center, many are questioning how it will affect their trip. Truth be told? It won’t.

While these areas are high visiting spots, there is still so much to see and do within the memorial. The gift shop, restaurant, ice cream shoppe, hikes and more are still open. The best way to start your visit to Mount Rushmore is to take a right at the entrance and go on the nature trail.

This trail will take you through the surrounding forest and over to the Borglum View Terrace, then onto the sculptor’s studio, and the Presidential Trail.

The Presidential trail gets you closer to the monument than anywhere in the park and offers many different views of each president.

Overall, these enhancements may stop you from seeing specific parts of the park, but the views are still breathtaking.
