Hopefully the weather is no indication like a bad omen to our decision making here.
I think they call that foreshadowing. So we are about to do
probably one of the craziest things we've ever done.
Yeah, and we've done a lot of crazy stuff. Climbing down glaciers, buying a boat before knowing how to sail.
I mean we've swam with hundreds of sharks, whales,
all sorts of things. Some just
adventurous, um, you know, possibly life-threatening. This one is not life-threatening. This one is not dangerous. It's just
insane. Just insane.
Because well, we're about to move in with a family. A five!
Onto a boat all together.
Three teenagers! Did I mention three teenagers? No.
So, you know.
It's gonna be fun.
When in a pandemic you do crazy things.
So yeah, we've got a lot to catch you up on.
Okay, we really do have a lot. We are of the catamaran Zatara.
They are friends that we met last year in Tonga right before we hauled out for a slow season.
We did an insane dinghy race that we called the pineapple cup. If you missed that you should go back put a card for it.
And so that was our first encounter with Zatara. We had a really good time. They're fellow Texans.
So it was just kind of easy and felt like being at home while in the South Pacific.
We saw them again when we were in Florida at the Florida Boat Show, well the Miami Boat Show, and
now here they are in Fiji. They just sailed over from New Zealand.
They were like one of the first boats to get here as soon as the borders opened and now there are cruisers flooding in
from all over. We have additional friends that
are coming from like the Marshall Islands and from French Polynesia.
So it's really exciting to see familiar faces again and well to be invited aboard and
to be back out exploring.
We said goodbye obviously to Mark for the time being so that we could hop aboard with Zatara
to come here to Manta Island to be able to
swim with the Manta Rays, do some exploring, some diving, you know all this love and makes us so happy.
And I think we're just gonna do a little boat hopping for a while because well, we can't get back to our own boat.
We still don't know when the borders are gonna open to Tonga.
We are still making every effort to try to get back in but honestly until they're ready to start allowing people in
it's just not gonna happen. So until then we're just gonna make the best of it, which is
what we're doing
here and if I'm gonna have to bide my time and it can't be in my own home
I'm pretty happy to be aboard this one and here
swimming with Manta Rays.
Before we do anything else to give you a quick
boat tour and introduce you to everybody for those of you who may not already know
who the Z crew is. Sorry for the interruption, but I need 60 seconds on the clock, please.
Okay, so we're in the middle of this pandemic and stress and anxiety are through the roof
and we think there's no better way to recharge the soul than to be in nature
which is why we're excited about today's sponsor Omaze.
They're giving you the chance to win a Mercedes-Benz 4x4 Sprinter van plus $60,000 worth of customizations by Vansmith.
It's the ultimate tiny home on wheels and probably the best way to travel in today's world.
If you're the lucky winner you can have your new tiny home on wheels delivered to you
or get flown out to the Vansmith shop in Colorado and road trip back
which is totally what we would do because well,
Colorado's awesome and why not start your road trip there? To enter to win just go to omaze.com

slash the wins. All right. Thank you so much for your time. Now back to that tour.
All right. First of all, this is our cabin. This is where we're going to be staying.
It's a
a bed. It's a bed. Very nice cabin. It's a nice new fan right there. Yes, Keith installed that for us.
That was very nice. Workstation over here. This is
editing magic. We have our own bathroom and our own shower.
So head.
A pretty good sized head.
Shower. With lots of water jets. Going forward. Oh, okay. So this is five cabins. Five cabins?
End of four peak. It's 58.5 feet says Keith.
Washer dryer.
Plenty of storage in the halls.
That's a lot of toilet paper. We've got another shower,
a bathroom, a head.
This is
Jack's room.
So this is Jack.
Jack, introduce yourself. Hi, I'm Jack Whitaker, crew on Sailing Zatarra. I woke up like this.
This is Jack's room. Why are you in here? Yeah, Jack, we're having a little food fight.
Food fight?
I don't know. So this is this is my cabin. I'm Jack and this is my brother Finn. I am 17.
You could call me a professional kiter. That's what they usually call me.
And I have 14 and I live in the slums. This is what happens when you tell teenagers to act natural.
And then we've got Finn. Tell us about you. How old are you?
I'm a 14 year old and I am a sponsored skateboarder from the San Francisco Bay Area. You are?
What's your thing? I play guitar. I also kite, but I'm not a legendary kiter. You will be. Yet. Yet.
But I'm a zip master.
That's the bed. Moving on? Should we move on? Is this scary?
This is a bit messy. No, that's the captain's peak in the toilet. Yeah, you can go in there. This is a bit messy.
It's kite geared, fishing geared. Oh, oh my gosh. That's considered the sixth bedroom, right?
Yeah, I guess you could
clear it out and have a space leaf in there if you really needed to. Yeah.
A little desk area or kite area. Moving right along. Okay, moving right along. Thanks, Jack.
Finn's on laundry duty.
Oh, weird.
You really gotta watch out what you say.
Main salon area. Yeah, can you tell we're already on a family boat?
Uh, main salon area. They have a huge table. This is just a boat. It is 58 feet, but
anyway, loads of room in here. Whole other seating area here. There's a bar,
ice maker, and a bar fridge.
Got a nab area. I'm just going to turn you in all kinds of circles. Everybody getting drunk. Yeah, that's right.
Are you feeling motion sick yet? Um,
a little nab area here.
The television, which gets used a lot for video games. Amen, brother. Oh, and this is Kate.
Hello. My name is Kate. Kate, how old are you? I'm 13 years old. And what's your thing on this boat?
What's your hobby? What do you do? I bake a lot.
But yeah, very true. And you have other skill sets. What else is your passion?
Well, I'm learning how to kiteboard, but I didn't have a passion. I dive and snorkel and those are just fun things
I like to do. Okay, but you haven't figured out like maybe like your big passion in life yet besides baking. Besides baking.
She makes pretty epic donuts. So there you go. Okay, can we, can you show us your room? Yeah.
All right, so this is
my room. It's like a hobbit house.
Little messy, but it's my room. That's okay. Pretty typical, right? There's a bathroom right there.
Oh my gosh, whenever I'm brushing my teeth, I'm like,
And I have to like sit on the toilet and brush your teeth. Yeah, it's super short.
Super, super short. But it's kind of cool at the same time.
I do feel like you're like magically living in a hobbit house. Do you ever feel like that?
Yeah, well the hobbit houses are like have small doors and then they're super big on the inside. But yeah, and this is just small.
Yeah, this is small in general. It's just small in general.
Okay. Well, then do you want to maybe take us into the galley or the kitchen since that's also your favorite place?
That's one of my favorites. Lead the way. All righty, man.
Down here is the galley. This is a galley down and normally I prefer galley up.
But I have to say on this big boat with this many people I can kind of understand why you would maybe want the galley
separated.
So, yeah, we have a nice. All right. Yeah. Yeah. That's
Yeah, you have to wait for it to right here. Wait, can we have
And then it goes all the way up
Ah, I can show you the technicals later. Okay. Thanks. All right. Yeah, so this is the kitchen as you can tell
It's pretty much just a hallway
But but you have a lot of important devices
That we don't have on on our boat and then a lot of boats don't have. We have a dishwasher
full-size dishwasher
top and bottom rack
Pretty fancy pants. We have a stove an oven. Yeah, and it's
Is it an easy bake oven or is this just like
Oh god, it's definitely not
Oh gosh, I said that wrong
You might take that out if you want
Yeah, so
Electric electric oven electric oven. That's what I meant
All the basics, but this is a really nice size galley and lots of fridge freezer space
So, yeah, no lack for food storage or anything like that so it's well equipped
floor lockers all through the floors
Storage everywhere lots of storage everywhere
Okay, and then finn's not in here, but you can give us the grand tour of his room
yes, so this used to be his old room before anna moved out and
Since nikki and jason moved in finn has moved back into his room. Thanks finn for a temporary time
And yes, it's just pretty much storage whenever somebody's not sleeping in it and then there's a bathroom here
Turn on the light
Has a shower
Yep, that's just it has a toilet as well. Would you look at that?
All right, we can go
Meet the adult
People on this boat. How about that?
the parents
The rents the rents the parents, okay introduce yourselves tell us your age if you're okay with that
I'm joe bob. This is ethel
And we're here to tell you we brought on the wins because they're so dear to our hearts
Ethel what do you think about it? I'm 72. I look really good, don't I?
Yeah
Amazing. No, this is keith. This is renee. I'll take over. They are very wonderful. Nice people from texas
Feels like we're just moving in with family. That's right. You know, they're a little crazier than our family. I'm 46. He's 50
And I look ever bit of 72
And act every bit of 14. Exactly. That's right. That's right
Now, okay, so you took off when? Four years ago took off in a monohull and made it to australia
sold that boat bought that big z boat catamaran in
Greece and i've been sailing ever since
and why did you take off on a big old boat with your whole family because you're
Glutton for punishment midlife crisis midlife crisis. We were tired of the same old same old back in the states
Tired of uh
Life tired of chasing money tired of all that stuff, right?
It's been really good for our marriage for our family depends on the time of the month and uh, yeah
No, it's good. It's a good deal. Keith likes to try to reinvent his uh, you know his life dream about every five to ten years
so
Give it a couple more years and i'm sure there'll be something different on the plate besides sailing. We're talking to nasa
Talking to elon musk there's some things in the works here. It's going to be tremendous
If they actually make that happen, we um already have reserved our spots as crew. All right. So while we're here, this is uh,
This is the cockpit you sit down here when there's not toys everywhere
Usually it's wake boards or uh kite boards or scuba tanks scuba tanks
And or guitars like now I got the helm
the helm
The barbie yeah, and then this is our cabin down in here
It's really it's just a boat. Oh, oh
We haven't seen your cabin. Can we go into your cabin? Yeah, renee. I'll show you that. You betcha. You betcha
Show that one because the bathroom's disgusting and the room's disgusting and no one wants to see a disgusting room
This lens is so huge. I feel like my face is like fish eyed right now
Plus the zits are gonna so this is the master
Bedroom bathroom
and uh
Well, nice big king-size bed that we love man. That is a nice big king-size
Yeah, that was one of the requirements when we were shopping for a boat keith wanted a big bed
So and you have a big bed and he got a big bed
And so my little desk and a little bit of closet space not a whole lot as you know on a boat
That's still pretty good though. Yep
I don't mind sleeping in the aft cabins, but how do you feel about it? Oh, I don't mind it at all
Would you prefer forward or do you like no?
No, we had a forward in the monohull and it was really loud and of course monohull is different
But it would bang and bang and bang. This is a little more stable
There is a lot of loud hull slapping right behind my head, but you get used to it
And it's only when you're at passage only when we're on passage. Yeah. Yeah. So and most of the time
Yeah, I can't even tell them on a boat. It's pretty darn stable
And other than um being mom and all the crazy duties that go along with that
What's your what's your passion on this on this vessel and on this trip?
I love snorkeling and diving with my family
Anything with my kids I enjoy it. I do enjoy homeschooling them
I know it's weird, but I like teaching and learning and making videos. We make a video every once in a while
That's me. That's right. I would say I would say video editing would probably be your biggest thing
Yeah, it's fun for me
it's like putting a puzzle together and I like recording our family memories and so it just uh
It's it's a lot of fun. I think that if I didn't have
Videos to build and create then I would probably be bored a lot of the time i'd read more but I still read
You know quite a bit but not that's okay. You're documenting family stuff, which is also very important. Yes
Thanks, renee. You're welcome. All right, that's it. So
Now, you know who everybody is and where everybody sleeps because you know, that's the important stuff in life
Oh
No, not what you do on a boat you do not snuggle no not right now it's too hot to snuggle
And the fan's too loud so I can't turn it on you wouldn't be able to hear us
Uh, but uh, keith has a tendency to turn the air conditioner on every night
So pretty sure we'll be getting that pretty soon. It's like a like a cruise ship here
I mean he wakes up at five like pulls up the anchor and moves ac's on a lot
So yeah, this is like it's it's a hotel full-on like yachty world for sure and they've got
So many things going on there are well five people living under here three teenagers
So i'm sure we've said that 12 times by now, but so there's school going on homeschooling going on
Zatara has their own channel. So there's like editing. We've got computers and cameras. They've got computers and cameras
So chaos and the bottleneck is definitely it's in the kitchen because they're big meat eaters and we're pesca vegetarians
so
We haven't quite figured that one out yet
Yeah, because it's kind of making two different sets of meals, but we're gonna we're gonna dial it in
We're gonna turn keith into a vegetarian
Probably not
I like your enthusiasm
But let's be realistic
but the first few days have been great and we have plans to go scuba diving because they have compressors on board and scuba equipment and
They are super into kiting which I am
Extremely excited to try really excited to try because I have been wanting to do that forever. Yeah
I mean look it's like the best activity for all these like crazy windy days that you get out here and you really can't
Do anything else? It seems kind of like the perfect sport
For a sailor for a sailor. Yes on a boat
On off days. So yeah, we're excited. I'm excited
I can't think about anything but the heat I know
also
You know, anyway, it's gonna be interesting that's
That's all that's all i'll leave it at. Thank you so much for watching
Yes, like subscribe all that other stuff that she normally says
and
We'll see you tomorrow
Well next week for you. Yeah
Good night. Good night. Goodbye world. Should we snuggle again? Or should I turn on the fan? Turn on the fan
Maybe we should just go outside. Oh that is like
instant relief
Now you can snuggle oh
