After being asked about how I finish my emerging forms, and right before my lathe broke down, I managed to produce this explanation video about my new choice of finishing touches.

Welcome back to my shop. This video is more of a response video than anything else. I've been
asked by a few people how I finish my work at the bottom after the project is done.
So I thought it would be an interesting experience to show you what I'm going to do,
because this is something new that I'm trying now for the first time.
So as you can see from this piece, this is the emerging
hollow form or vase that I made a few months ago, and at the bottom it's all sanded up and oiled
and quite done, but there's this hole that was remained, well there's a smaller hole remaining
from where the screw was mounted, and then there is the mortise that we've made for the jaws.
And this can either be sanded smooth or treated somehow, but I'm going to try something else,
and that would be to make a small insert with some information laser etched on it.
So to do so, I'm going to utilize some of the leftovers that I have from my different turning
projects that I've made. So whenever I'm turning a piece of nice wood and there is a leftover,
a cut off piece, then I keep those, even the small ones, they can always be used for something.
So I'm trying to hold on to those leftovers, for example this one which is quite large and it has
a small bark inclusion, I could actually turn into a small hollow form, which I'll probably do.
But I'll probably take this piece here and I'm going to chuck it up and I'm going to turn it
to size to fit the whole of the tenon and then I'm going to slice a thin slice of wood that I could
glue inside and we'll check it for size and then we're going to print some information on it.
Open your arms and enlighten my sight, comfort and carry me to my new home.
All to the rhythm of my passion.
I want to stop, but I don't want to stop.
