10) Wassail! Wassail! All Over the Town

"Wassail! Wassail! All Over the Town" is a traditional English Christmas Carol from the county of Gloucestershire, England, dating back to the 18th Century, but maybe earlier.
The word "Wassail" is a toast to be in good health.
Lyrics:
WASSAIL! Wassail! all over the town,
Our toast it is white and our ale it is brown;
Our bowl it is made of the white maple tree;
With the wassailing bowl, we'll drink unto thee.
Come butler, come fill us a bowl of the best,
Then we hope that in Heaven your soul may rest,
But if you do draw us a bowl of the small,
Then down shall go butler, bowl and all.
So call up the Butler of this house,
Put on his golden ring;
Let him bring us a glass of beer,
And the better we shall sing
(Chorus) Love and joy come to you,
And to you your wassail too;
And God bless you and send you a Happy New Year
Bring us out a table,
And spread it with a cloth;
Bring us out a mouldy cheese,
And some of your Christmas loaf
(Chorus) Love and joy come to you,
And to you your wassail too;
And God bless you and send you a Happy New Year
God bless the Master of this house,
Likewise the Mistress too;
And all the little children
That round the table go
(Chorus) Love and joy come to you,
And to you your wassail too;
And God bless you and send you a Happy New Year
And God send you a Happy New Year.
We wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
(Chorus) Love and joy come to you,
And to you your wassail too;
And God bless you and send you a Happy New Year
And God send you a Happy New Year.
WASSAIL! Wassail! all over the town,
Our toast it is white and our ale it is brown;
Our bowl it is made of the white maple tree;
With the wassailing bowl, we'll drink unto thee.
