Good nutrition is vital because that is what our body runs on.
And as the saying goes, food can be our medicine or it can also be our poison.
When you talk about the daily nutritional requirements, it is absolutely not one size
fits all. I think the goal with good nutrition is pretty simple. It's to eat as much color as
possible in the form of fruits and vegetables while avoiding the ultra processed, long shelf
life foods. Really the only number that I emphasize right now to people in terms of reading those
nutritional profiles on the back of a package is added sugar. There's hidden added sugar in
almost everything that's on the shelf. A lot of the evidence in the field of nutritional science
and medical science is pointing to the fact that too much sugar is really not good for us.
I think we're at the tip of the iceberg with that interaction between nutrition
and how we feel both physically and psychologically. But what is known is that
there is something called the gut brain axis and there is an interaction. But we're at the infancy
of understanding what that is right now. But I encourage people to be curious with yourself.
Do experiments with different ways of eating and see how you feel.
