Hello everyone As you may have noticed on our social media recently
On has decided to merge with another Quebec company with which it shares common values
To work towards a common goal of further democratizing the tiny house industry
So the result of this collaboration is the Nomad model
The Nomad model is the first minimalist model to fall into the recreational caravan category
Unlike the model park category which is a bit what we did before
The dimensions are 8.5 by 24.5
You will find the same quality and durability as our park models along
with mobility and off-grid options that are unique to the Nomad series
So we will do an exterior and interior inspection of the unit without going into too much detail
However after the video we will take the time to explain the details
the more technical specifications related to the Nomad series
At the hitch here for the trailer there is a type of connectio
It is different from the park models that are made to be pulled by a van tractor or something like that
Here we have a genuine 2-inch 5.16 ball hitch designed to be installed on a conventional truck
Whether it's an F-150 or an F-250 depends on the version and the vehicle you have as well
Here you have the air conditioning which is an option available in
the Nomad model Obviously it's something that uses a lot of power
If you intend to use the heat pump it is recommended to have access to 30 amps or to have the advanced solar kit
At the model upgrade level of Nomad here is an adjustment leg that happens to be essential
When the house is level front to back
When installing the unit a bit more permanently
It is recommended to install the four stabilizers that come with the house
I will show them to you a bit later
Here at the back of the house there is a gravity water inlet connection
That is necessary and available when you have the fresh water tank option
On the other hand if you don't have a fresh water tank it's something that won't be outside the house
The Nomad model comes with a maintenance-free steel finish Whether
it's the vertical black finish or the distinction wood-look finish
We are talking about a low-maintenance coating with a very long warranty
So we really want to buy peace of mind and avoid having to do maintenance on the house
At the level of the windows the windows in the Nomad model are really something that is the opposite of recreational vehicle windows
They have residential-quality windows with Energy Star double glazing
You end up with a glass that's really made for the road
What is found on the side of the house here is the connection for the propane
Depending on how people will use the unit you can connect either a 100-pound propane tank
For someone who will be here for a long time and wants a cabin with the possibility of moving it
We have a regulator here that is double
So we can also have two tanks that we will transport
So one in the vehicle and one that we will install under the house to make a rotation depending on the type of use and consumption we will have
However if two propane tanks are installed the regulator will automatically switch to the full tank when one is empty
So it's really something interesting
Right next to it we have the connection for greywater
So it can be something that is directly connected like a recreational vehicle directly to a septic tank or the city's sewer system
However we also have reservoirs that are good for winter something that isolated really made for the Quebec climate
So when taking the tank option whether it's the fresh water tanks or the black and grey water tanks
You find yourself with a product that isolated and suitable for operation in both winter and summer
At the weight level the Nomade ranges from 10 500 to 11 500 pounds depending on the selected options
However the trailer is equipped with two 7 000-pound axles making it suitable for a 14 000-pound capacity
Therefore even if there are drops in anise if there are stabilizing cases it is really something that can be performed at any time in all seasons
Therefore directly under the house there is a recreational vehicle connection for the water inlet
So really like a garden hose a three-quarter inch water inlet
It can be installed in recreational vehicle parks campgrounds or even at home and it can be connected to a conventional garden hose
A little further under the house there is a 30-amp connection
Once again this is something that can be connected in campgrounds
Same type of connection as seen on this kind of website
Even at home you can have a wire that connects to an outdoor outlet of the house
So you can operate the Nomad and plug it in almost anywhere
At the very end of the trailer you will find the controls for the retractable patio which is another option on the Nomad model
So with the help of these controls we will be able to raise and lower the balcony with the motorized winch
So it's something I'm going to show you
a bit later As for the stabilizers that's what I was talking about earlier
It has a stabilizer that is good for easily getting excited by the stabilizer
So we have it installed in all four corners of the house
Then it turns out to be something a bit like the Nomad
So very sturdy and very durable
So were talking about the balcony option earlier
Here it is it turns out to be a very comfortable aluminum balcony that also has railings for safety
So it's an option that doesn't come standard with the unit
On the other hand it can be a very beautiful addition if you have mobility in mind
At the balcony operation level I will show you exactly how it is done as follows
Make sure to keep tension on the cable when deploying it to secure it to the extension at the bottom of the stairs
Once the two cables are connected together with the hook you can move to the side and use the control lever to lift the patio
At the very end make sure you have secured the patio with the two latches on the side and have a safety pin to prevent the latch from moving during transport
When deploying the patio for use it is important to create enough slack to separate the cables
But to maintain pressure on the cable when rewinding it into the winch
At the stair ramps once the patio is in place they can be installed and secured with the nuts that will be under the balcony
If you install it on a floor that is not perfectly level there are two adjustment screws with adjustable flaps on each side of the balcony
Well let's go show you the inside
Welcome inside the Model Nomad
Currently I am in the entrance So there is access to the unit with a 5-foot-wide patio door
Here there is also a curtain that comes with the house
Therefore upon entering directly there is an entry wardrobe in which there is also the power converter that is necessary when the solar option is installed on the unit
At the bottom that's where you'll find the batteries
Then at the top you find everything that is controlled at the solar panel level for the water tank level
Then there is also the electrical panel at the top
This is the heat recovery air exchange system which is very very important in airtight and insulated homes like the Nomad and all minimalist homes
At the switches there are switches with a light
At the food level there are USB outlets and standard 120-volt outlets
Then here there's a cigarette lighter if you want to light a good top
No we don't smoke in the Nomad model and we don't smoke It's wrong
Good On the other
hand we have the support of VR wall
So it's a TV stand that doesn't move that you can unlock to position the TV
It has the television option It is a Furion television designed for reactive vehicles
Therefore it is designed to have vibrations and withstand temperature changes well
So not all televisions do this kind of vehicle
Behind there are entry hooks that yes point to the same place as the television
However when you deploy the television you can still use the considerable space available in this type of dwelling
So it's a compromise in terms of space
Above you will find the head of the heat pump which is an option in the Nomad as well
Then in the top right you find the smoke detector which is very important to have in a TV
At the U-shaped kitchenette you will find a kitchenette that can be converted into a bed when desired
You just need to remove the table and then remove the leg that will be installed here to fill the gap
And the mattress will become a bed
It is also here that we will have yes storage space as well as all the mechanics of the house
Therefore we can see here that there is an outlet for the propane furnace
Here there is a drawer on each side
In this area there are ventilation holes as well as a propane detector that is always set to the lowest point of the house
Then if the cushions are removed to access the nomad's mechanics one finds that the mechanics are much more compact than in our park homes
As you can see here for example in the center
So in the left corner you have the 30 000 BTU propane furnace that will also heat the tanks in the winter to prevent them from freezing
In the center you will have a 12 V pump for the fresh water tank when working with them in autonomous mode
Then in this corner at the back you find the propane instant water heater which is very interesting and ventilated by the floor
Then it turns out to be a Precision Temp which is pretty much the top of the top in the market for propane instant water heaters sorry
The nomadic model's kitchen is very compact but highly optimized
We have a double stainless steel sink and a black faucet above
We have storage space underneath
Then it's a very very very decent storage space for the size of this kitchen
Just across the way there is another storage area
Then exactly at that spot if you choose the 2-in-1 washer-dryer option that's where it will be located
If you don't take the option it turns out to be a cabinet that's just there by default
We happen to have wooden tablets
Then there is a laminated wood counter
So a laminated walnut wood
At the cooking level for the portable model there is a Furion cooktop
So an oven with a cooking surface
Three propane tanks
So appliances halfway between the VR and the residential side
So a very good range
It is something that is very durable as well We end up having an oven hood that is very important for exhausting the hot air
Then from the top and the sides for storage
In addition to having three large drawers to put whatever you want in
At the refrigerator level you have a Furion refrigerator with 9.3 cubic feet of space
He runs on 12 volts
So clearly if you have solar panels it's something that can be cold all the time
We find ourselves here with a small utility space
Then a cabinet with a sliding door
At the bottom you end up having yes a cabinet in the top
But also here a pantry with a microwave that is hidden on a slide
Then obviously three large spaces for putting food
Here we have thermostat for the propane furnace
And that's all
The Nomad Unit is equipped with a flush toilet
And there is also the compost toilet option
We have a propane heating duct
As well as a dehumidifier
Then a very large window that provides a lot of natural light
There is also a pharmacy with storage space
Thus a very modest vanity
The Nomad Unit comes with a 24 by 36 shower
Featuring marble-look panels
Then there are a lot of disturbances above the head
If compared to any conventional recreational vehicle
So it's one of the added values of this model
You can have the faucet
Then the shower head in stainless or black color
Depending on your options
Here we have a small gray curtain
It comes directly with the house
When the city and its team created the design of the Nomad model
It was very important to have no compromises in terms of the bedroom's comfort
So we'll go take a look
As you can see there is plenty of headroom above
Then there is a corner bed here
Therefore clearly one can see that it is possible to move around the bed without any problem
Regarding storage there is a wardrobe on each side
The design is mirrored
Therefore you end up with the same conveniences on both sides
Above the bed there is a fairly deep cabinet
Then as I was saying the wardrobe
A nightstand with utility outlets
Then two large drawers on each side
Regarding the lighting what's interesting
It's that you end up with much larger windows than what you see in the industry
This will be used for emergency exits and is marked as such
There is storage space under the bed Depending on
whether you choose the fresh water tank option or not
There is a fresh water tank at the back isolated
So it will provide a bit less storage space under the bed
Otherwise you end up with a full-width storage
Then this is where we suggest installing stabilizers during movements
You have a white door installed on a barn
door style mechanism with two different latches
Therefore one that will be really used for intimacy in the bedroom
Then another one that will be really dedicated to transportation
Therefore when moving the unit it is very important to close
the lock to prevent everything from moving during transport
In the lower part here we have another dock that will provide heating to the bedroom
To complete the bedroom the house is equipped with a Queen-sized bed
So a very comfortable memory foam mattress that will let you sleep like a baby
Magnificent
This is exactly the kind of decor in which we want you to be able to install your Nomad model
In fact the product was designed so you can bring the comfort of your home into this type of environment
So if you want to learn more about the creative process behind the design of the Nomad model stay with us
So as you have seen the Nomad series brings an entirely new dimension to the minimalist product range
In fact it's a new product line
So in the following video course we will explain what the new product line is
The different possible uses
We will also talk about features mobility and offline options
Also various uses that are possible with the Nomad model
When talking about our new product line what we mean is that most of our models are 10.5 feet wide
So these are park models
It brings almost no mobility except for transport from point A to point B via a transport company
What's new about the Nomad model is that it falls into the category of recreational trailer or caravan
It is a model that is less than 8.5 feet in width
Also we are about 12 feet in height
Therefore there is indeed the possibility to move it yourself which was not the case with our previous models
At the structural level it is still referred to as a unit designed with isolated structural panels
Therefore a building envelope without any thermal bridge very airtight and very energy-efficient
In a design that is a little more optimized than our previous models because in fact we are working in 160 square feet
Then what's interesting is that we have the same minimalist signature
So the comfort of home brought to wherever you want it
The interior is optimally designed In fact we work in 160 square feet
But still we find the same components and the same minimalist design signature
Speaking of a new product line means a product that meets different needs than what has been seen before
Therefore the Nomad model will mainly be used for chalet and mobile office purposes
Whether it's for housing workers or having a place to stay
somewhere or even for housing a person on their own land
Some people will want to work full-time
On the other hand there are many compromises to make since the space is quite limited
At the mobility level it is a unit that weighs under 12 500 pounds
It remains a rather significant burden
However a vehicle like an F-150 or even better an F-250 can easily tow the Nomad model
However it is essential to equip yourself with stabilizing bars during movements
Strongly recommended to have a sway control device commonly known as a sway bar
So we don't go without the stabilizer bars
The Nomad model is the only unit offered by Minimalist that has true all-season autonomy
The unit can therefore be equipped with grey water tanks black water tanks and fresh water tanks
Also solar panels to have autonomous use regardless of the time of year
On the other hand there are many things to know and many points to consider when operating in autonomous mode especially in winter
At the freshwater reservoir it is located in the bed base
There is still an insulation added around the tank to prevent any freezing
However it is located in the warm area
The fresh water reservoir is filled by gravity from the outside of the unit
So either you have a pump that can be attached to a drill or you have a manual pump
But you have to fill the tank manually or with a pump
At the level of wastewater tanks whether it's greywater or blackwater
The reservoirs are located under the unit in an isolated container that is itself integrated into the propane heating system
So in winter even if you have a heat pump below 5 degrees
It is important to operate the propane heating system to keep the tanks at a temperature to prevent any freezing
Of course reservoirs have a limited capacity
No matter the size of the tanks that are placed in the mobile unit a way must be found to fill them
So it's something to consider when planning a trip with the unit or the location where you want to set up
The ideal of course is to have access to a water and electricity source
But if that's not the case you need to be aware of the limitations and find out how many people will be in the unit
What will be the expected consumption level for users in the unit
When in autonomous mode the ideal approach is to avoid filling the grey water tanks too quickly
It turns out to have a compost toilet installed in the unit
That will prevent using black water
Then gray water is much easier to manage
Then obviously when you flush you waste a lot of water
Then water is a scarce resource when in autonomous mode
Freshwater reservoirs themselves are not necessarily sources of drinking water
Because there are some people who will draw water from a river who will use rainwater
It has a rainwater collector option that can also be used in summer
So this water is used for the shower for washing dishes for the washing machine and dryer for example if you want to use it
Then everything that is a sink then household use
Therefore if you are in autonomous mode it is clearly important to plan for water containers for the water you will consume
If you have a composting toilet then use the grey water tanks only for grey water
If you use biodegradable soaps there are certain sites that allow direct disposal into the soil
It naturally filters wastewater because there are no chemicals
Therefore wastewater is not necessarily harmful to the environment
On the other hand black water must be treated separately
Then if you have a black water tank the important thing to know is that once the tank is full you need to find a way to empty it
So either move the unit to a drain station or you can equip it with a portable tank
Pour drain the black water into a container that you can take to a dump station
So it will depend on the level of permanence you have on your
property and also on the mobility you think you have with the unit
In the entry wardrobe of the nomadic model you will find the different control panels whether for the solar or the tank
At the tank level controls you will have a visual display of the levels of the different tanks
It is very important especially regarding grey water tanks not to fill the tanks more than 90% of their capacity
Because sometimes there will be expansion and we want to prevent the water from rising back up through the different pipes
For the freshwater tank it's best to fill it on-site or near the site where you are going to install the house
Because a liter of water is a kilogram
So for a 250-liter tank you add 200 kilograms directly to a location that happens to be on the vehicle's pole
Therefore it is not recommended to transport the unit with full tanks
In conclusion regarding the tanks when you are equipped with a composting toilet you effectively double the waste water capacity
Because when talking about a unit equipped with a conventional toilet black water never flows into the gray water
But the gray waters can flow into the black waters
So when you have a compost toilet you double the capacity so you end up with two grey water tanks
So we can increase the duration of our off-grid stay
The key component of the Nomad off-grid model is truly the solar kit
It is referred to as a kit that can develop up to 5.12 kWh with the basic kit and 10.24 kWh for the advanced model
When you have the advanced model you have practically no limitations whether it's the washer-dryer or the devices in the unit
Even with the heat pump you can use the unit without compromise regardless of the time of year
On the other hand it is very important to thoroughly understand your system
For this purpose the unit is equipped with control panels so you can understand the behavior of your system
e different areas that will consume more energy in your unit
Therefore visually you will be able to see in real time the load assigned to the different components of the unit as well as the battery levels
So yes in theory there is no limit
However it is important to understand that using certain items at the same time as others can accelerate battery drain
Therefore in an ideal world we use what is available responsibly
Therefore all dryers all elements that require heat or create resistance are elements that consume a lot of energy
So we avoid using them at the
same time A coffee maker
has no place in the nomadic model We travel in off-grid mode
So we have a propane
oven We are going to boil some
water We are going to make a percolated coffee
We get into the off-grid atmosphere then we respect the system It will
be able to deliver the goods if we pay attention to our consumption
For reference the most energy-consuming devices installed in the mobile unit are the washing machine and dryer the heat pump and the microwave
Then obviously anything electronic is quite negligible
Therefore if we pay attention to the consumption of these three elements normally we can have full-time usage without constraints in the nomadic model
The most energy-intensive component of the mobile unit is the heat pump option
When connected with 30 amps there are no limitations
Then it is strongly recommended to use the heat pump for heating as long as the outside temperature is above 5 degrees Celsius
Otherwise below that it is recommended to use propane for heating
For summer the air conditioning on the heat pump is definitely the element that will consume the most energy
So it's very important in the summer not to run the air conditioner the washing machine the dryer all at the same time if you want to be able to stay cool through the night
On the other hand we're off-grid so we have to make compromises
So what is suggested to people is to turn on the air conditioning then in the evening when going to bed you can turn off the heat pump and the cool air will remain throughout the night
Then the next day you can recharge it because during the night there is no sunlight to generate new electricity in the batteries
If we go into a bit more detail about the technical aspects I told you that the kit can generate between 5.12 and 10.24 kWh
It is a lithium battery system which in our opinion is the best system that cannot be installed on the market
These are batteries that come with a 10-year warranty and can last 15 20 or even 30 years if used properly
So there you buy peace of mind which is a bit the idea behind minimalist products in general
So when offering an off-grid product we make sure the solar kit reflects a bit of the product's nature
For the panels we wanted versatility
So they are bifacial panels meaning channels that capture sunlight from both sides
So if you order a house in advance and you know where you're going to install them you can clearly position the panels to maximize their use
If you purchase a unit that is already completed there will be an east-west panel and a north-south panel
In this way you will be able to direct the house
You will always be in the best of both worlds having the flexibility to choose where you want to settle
When you arrive on site you just need to unfold the panels and also unfold the bar that will hold the angle on the panels
Then in the winter what is very important is to clear the panels
This is the only time you will have to climb onto the unit's roof
It's to ensure there is no snow on the signs
The panel may not necessarily be damaged but clearly it will reduce the capacity of your solar system
As the Nomad will bring another dimension to our minimalist product line
As the Nomad brings another dimension to the way of thinking about winter camping in Quebec
In places where it's cold or where there's actually a winter
It felt like in Quebec people do winter
activities People are doing more and more of them
So for example to avoid having to rent a hotel when you go on a ski trip
The Nomade model can be very suitable for allowing you to set up without necessarily having to rent a hotel
Then also to take you to the wonderful places except in winter
Not everyone wants to go winter camping in a tent
So allowing people to go camping in complete comfort during the winter
the Nomade really brings something that doesn't yet exist on the market
Therefore as you can see the unit is very versatile
There are many facilities so comfort is not neglected
On the other hand it's certainly important to be attentive to this product
Then there are many possibilities as I said earlier
A cabin you can host the family you can host workers
So the limit of the Nomad model is really the limit you will impose on yourself
We can't wait to see where you're taking your Nomad unit
So if the Nomade model interests you here's something interesting
to know it's a model that is available with a shorter lead time
It is available in larger quantities than our other units
You can even view the technical sheet directly on our website
Take a virtual tour and in fact you can even set your own price with
the option prices that are directly displayed on the technical sheet
Obviously we are curious to know what you think of the new Nomade model
We avoid asking you to write your opinions and ideas in the comments
Clearly it's a product on which a lot of development will be done
Research and development and then we will try to
constantly improve this unit develop new features
So be creative and also let us know what you think
