How to clean a dishwasher spray arm and filter

Turn off the power, remove the cover basket, then you’ll see an access panel. Lift the access panel up and take out the filter.

- Step 2: (1:01) - Remove the spray arm

First, remove the base rack in the bottom, giving us access to the bottom of the dishwasher.
The spray arm is now accessible, you just lift it up. Let it dry. Then tap the spray arm from side to side to let pieces inside fall into the center and fall out.
Rinse it under water to flush those pieces that are still stuck in there. Wipe it with a dry cloth and put it back in.

An easy thing to do is to check the spray arm each time before starting the dishwasher. Just give it a flick to ensure that it's able to rotate freely around. Especially near the filter, because if you do not push down properly, it can stick out and the spray arm can just catch the top of that.

Check the height to see if a plate is higher than the lid on the edge of the tub, there could be an issue with the lid not sealing. This could lead to leaking.
