Hello, happy December. My name is Emily if you're new here. I'm an American grad student living in
London and I share my experience on here so definitely subscribe if you are interested
in seeing more of that. But today we're going to the town where the holiday was filmed. It's a very
festive activity. The town is called Shear. It's in Surrey and it's about two hours away from London
so we better get going. We're here! I'm not gonna lie to you, the journey was treacherous but we
will talk more about that at the end of the video because right now I'm gonna go to the pub that
they were at called... I think it's called the White Horse and it's featured in the movie.
So I'm excited. I always say I'm excited but I'm really excited.
Okay this church has been in... I think it was in the holiday and in Bridget Jones and for
weddings and a funeral. I am now on my way to the site of the famous running scene in the holiday.
To be honest I'm just kind of guessing where it is so we'll see. I could be wandering aimlessly
but it doesn't even matter because look at this. I mean the houses here are just gorgeous.
I think I found it and I do really feel like Cameron Diaz because
it's so muddy. I'm wearing my white shoes but I gotta do it for the video. This is the worst town
I really was gonna try and recreate the scene where she's running but
it's so muddy. You're just gonna have to use your imagination.
Also I should mention that the house or the cottage is not really here so
that's disappointing. I already knew that but um yeah so. It's so windy I don't know if you can
hear me but uh I think that just might have been someone's driveway I was walking down. Not really
Well I feel like I have sufficiently wandered aimlessly and trespassed enough for the day so I
think I'm gonna head back to London. I'm currently just trying to figure out how I'm gonna explain
this on the tube. Okay I'm home so I thought I would share some of my thoughts. First of all
Shear is so cute. I mean you saw it. It's really cute and quaint and a really great little town
which I'm sure is why they chose it for the movie. The only thing is I don't know if it's the
best day trip from London if you're here for a short amount of time. If you live in London like
and you have the time to spend doing it it's great but there's a lot of transfers involved and in
order to get to the places that you need to be at the exact times that you need to be it's just a
little bit stressful and a little bit difficult. It took me to get there around three hours and
it took me two hours to get back so I think I learned from my first journey the best way to
get there. So my recommendation would be to go from Waterloo station to Guildford and then take
the 32 bus into Shear. That's just how I came home and I think it was a lot easier than the
way that I went. The buses as far as I know that go from the railway stations nearest to Shear
only run once an hour so that's the thing that kind of throws a kink into things because you
have to get there at the exact time so you're not waiting for another hour for the next train
or 45 minutes or whatever depending on when you get there. So it's not like London where buses
run like every 10 to 15 minutes but yeah I did really like it and if you're a huge fan of the
holiday I would definitely recommend it. As I mentioned the house is not there which is
which is a little bit sad um but you know the pub and the running scene and
the just overall vibes really good um but yeah thank you for watching and I'll see you
next time. Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already and Merry Christmas! Bye!
