Hi, I'm Jake with AeroBuilding, and today we're at the Mop & Road Edition, a project
that our firm is working on with Linda Phillips of Linda Phillips Architects, based out of
Booneville, Missouri, and we are in Old Southwest neighborhood in Columbia, and we're in a crawl
space.
We're in the crawl space of our new edition, and I just wanted to share with you a really
quick, easy tip to be able to insulate your walls in the crawl space without having to
do a whole bunch of framing, or metal studs, or wood studs, and then cutting and fitting
insulation in all those gaps.
We've opted here to do two layers of this Owens Corning XPS, it's an R10 for each two
inch sheet, which means we have an R20 assembly here, which is comparable to what we have
above grade upstairs, and the way that we're going to fasten it on the wall are with these
really cool, healthy IDP 10-12 fasteners.
They take a 5-16ths masonry bit, you drill through the two layers of foam into the concrete
wall just a little bit, and then you just push this in place and hammer it in place.
So all of the insulation down here is going to be installed without any sealants, foams,
glue, studs, be them metal or wood, and all that they'll be held in place with are these
little fasteners here.
Because this isn't a room, we're allowed to have this exposed, and so therefore this is
as quick and easy that we can get out of here, it's also a very clean and simple installation
that can save the client money.
