500+ Year Old English Town’s Christmas Market 🎄🎄🎄
For Richard and I,it just wouldn’t be Christmas without a trip to the Billericay Christmas Market in Essex.
Billericay dates back as far as the 1200’s and there are many beautiful buildings in the High Street still standing from the Tudor times of the 1500’s, through to the magnificent Georgian era of the 1700’s, and everything in between and later. It really is well worth a visit if you are in the area.
Billericay is about 25 miles from London, and about 5 miles from where we live.
Every year on the first Sunday in December they close the High Street to all traffic to hold their Annual Christmas Market, with a procession which marches up and down the street and a whole host of interesting street stalls selling festive wares.
All the shops lining the street are also open, as are all the public buildings such as the library, pubs, church and town hall. It’s a very lovely day out and I hope you enjoy joining us for our Christmas Day out.
