2001 F350 7.3 Project - Found this weird issue with the rear tailgate assist

Cough a weird issues with my truck in the rear, im glad i didnt damage anything and cough it in time lol. Easy fix and also makes the tailgta theft proof. 2 birds with 1 stone!!
