Now is the perfect time to think about adding more colour to the garden to take you right through to the end of Autumn and the first frosts. Today I am planting four Anenomes. Three are the variety called ‘Pink Lady’ and the fourth is the variety ‘Fantasy Jasmine’. They both do look very similar to me I have to say! Anenomes have beautiful tall spikes of purple pink flowers which do particularly well in semi-shade positions, or at least not in the full heat of the afternoon sun. I think they will enjoy a bit of morning sun when the heat is not so intense and so I am planting them in my East facing border. I am repeat planting them all the way along in the hope that this will provide colour throughout the border, rather than in just one large clump. Today is very windy so I do apologise for any wind noise throughout this video, but it is still very warm so a lovely day to be out in the garden doing sone planting. Richard is also up the stepladder taming my Honeysuckle which has been blown around quite a bit overnight, so that’s another good job done.

The wind howls through here and my poor hanging basket catches the complete brunt of it.
Is that it?
Nope, one more.
I think that's it.
Yes.
It's Jeanette here again from Enthusiastic Gardener.
It has been so windy and this poor hanging basket has really caught the brunt of it.
But it's holding up.
And I trimmed these recently.
You might have seen in another video.
And they've already grown so much already.
So they're looking very good.
But it is the end of August now so I don't know how much longer they can continue.
Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I have an enemy.
And I have four actually.
But not the enemies that you would think.
I have the beautiful plant an enemy.
And I will show you.
Stay there.
Here we go. An enemy.
Because I'm continuing my planting for late summer and fall interest.
So anemones are very good for colour all the way up to the first frosts.
And this one here is called Anemone Lady Pink.
Now I went a bit mad and I bought three of these.
Because my local little nursery was having a sow.
So everything was very very cheap.
I bought these without research.
And when I researched I realised that they do actually get quite big.
And some are quite thuggish.
So they do take over.
But you can keep them under control and that is what I would do.
Hopefully keep them under control.
Because I believe that their roots travel.
Anyway, I've got three of this version.
Which is called Lady Pink.
Very pretty.
Let me tell you the details.
Yes, they're not so fond of full sun.
They prefer part sun, part shade.
Which is great.
And they should flower round until the first frosts.
They're perennials. They die back every year.
I have three of these.
And then I have one.
Bear with me.
Yes, and this one is called a Fantasy Jasmine.
To be honest, they look exactly the same.
Fantasy Jasmine.
It says 16 inches high to 14 inches wide.
They like a moist but well-drained soil.
Beautiful purple pink blooms on compact plants.
Blooms from high summer through until autumn.
Believe it or not, I do have spaces for these.
And I do have gaps.
So I'm going to repeat plant with these.
I was going to put three in one spot.
But I do realise they do get quite bushy.
So I am going to split them up into four separate plants.
And I'm going to dot them about for a bit of repeat planting.
Which I think will look nice.
Because if they are really late bloomers, then I will have dotted flowers everywhere.
So I'm going to go round and dig the holes.
Richard is round the corner.
Just up the step ladder.
Taming the honeysuckle which has grown wildly up the wall.
It's doing well. I even had a flower.
My first ever flower.
So he's round there doing that.
So let's go watch him do that while I dig the holes.
Because that is not the most exciting thing for you to watch.
Me digging holes. You have seen me dig holes before.
Dig myself into many a hole.
Let me leave you with Richard.
And I will see you in a moment.
Another job for me.
To get my drill out.
It's not easy being the handyman of the garden.
Do you want some water?
Here you go.
Lucy is so funny.
She always wants the water out of the tap.
Any water anywhere she loves.
So no way we could have a pond.
She would be in the pond.
So I'm going to get them planted now.
As I said it is very windy today but it's very warm.
So it's lovely to be out here.
It does feel autumnal although I'm not saying the word autumnal yet.
I'm not saying the A word.
It is still August.
We still have, well I think autumn officially starts on the 22nd of September.
So we still have three weeks at least.
And I'm not saying the A word anymore.
Until then.
But actually I do like autumn.
I've said it.
I do like autumn.
It's one of my favourite seasons.
In fact all seasons are my favourites.
I like them all.
And everything looks so different every season.
And that is what I like about gardening.
It does not stay static.
It's always changing.
Anyway, I digress as usual.
I've dug the holes and I will add some slow release fertiliser to each one.
And I will add some multi-purpose compost as well.
So let's get on with it.
And it's already started so glad I did that.
I'll just show you quickly.
So we have one which should go up to about that high with beautiful pink flowers.
Then further along this way we have the second one.
Is this one and this one.
And so they should grow this high with the beautiful pink flowers.
And this little step should just alter the height slightly.
So hopefully that will look really nice.
So it is now raining.
I will quickly water them in anyway even though it is raining.
There they are.
And that is the other one back there.
Yes it's now raining and so I need to go in.
I've got all the jobs done and glad to have got the honeysuckle tied up as well.
Especially because it's so windy.
Thank you so much for watching.
I'm Jeanette.
I am The Enthusiastic Gardener.
Have fun in your gardens and take care and we'll see you soon.
Bye.
