Hello everybody, I'm Jennifer Davenport. Our store JD's is growing and expanding and I cannot wait to tell you all about it so stay tuned. So the first thing I want to share with you is so exciting after five years and two expansions JD's is moving. Yeah it's pretty exciting. We've been there five years and we knew after the second expansion that it wasn't going to last. We didn't have enough room for our design center, for your office, other offices, not to mention storage and inventory. So we've been watching and waiting and we have found what we think is the perfect place for JD's. Yeah so this building was previously a restaurant so it was going to need a lot of internal demolition as well as a ton of white paint both inside and out. So this is where Scott's expertise comes into play. He has spent hours and hours planning out the layout of the new store as well as staying there for several weeks doing some construction and overseeing the contractors. It's been a good time and the new store will satisfy everything we need to have more room for a retail space for sure but also gave us an expanded room for the design center and then for Jennifer's office where she does consultations and we were able to give her an exterior window which was a big a big need for her office. So the new location is right in the center of town. Scott is super excited because Home Depot is right across the street. The girls and I are excited because Starbucks is right around the corner and Target is across the street but we're really also hoping to get a lot more traffic to the store. It's a good location and we wanted to have a little fun with the reveal to our staff so we one day blindfolded them, put them in the car, actually we put them in the car and blindfolded them and drove to the new store for a big fun reveal. It was a fun day. So we're going to be announcing the grand opening soon. You guys follow us on social media on Instagram. Follow the store at JD's All About Home. So we're also going to have the date of when our grand opening is. So the story of JD's is really a special story. I've been designing part-time but in 2008 I decided to go full-time. The kids were getting much older and didn't need me as much but the problem was when I was looking for certain things for clients I couldn't find it in Murfreesboro at any stores. They didn't have the style I was looking for so I was driving to Franklin. I was driving to Nashville and that's how the story began. And really the store was going to be a supplemental piece to the design business. We found a little little spot in a strip mall very close to our house and very close to the interstate. What we didn't plan though is that we opened that store on a Saturday and the very next Thursday my 30-year career in telecom came to an end when I was let go in a reduction of force which turned out to be a providential blessing for us because we've been busy with the store every day since then and never looked back and it's been an awesome thing. The store's expanded twice in that little space and took over the space next door. Jennifer just has had the magic touch of what product lines and what things to keep in the store and we've just been so blessed and so thankful at how great it's gone in that little space. Once we knew it was time to expand the store next to us he moved so we were able to take that space over but Scott had to put two different huge openings so he began his demolition doing that but with the help of family we also laid our own flooring which I never want to do that for the rest of my life and he put new lighting in and created the ambiance that I really wanted the store to have. What else we gained was I got an office and then we got an area in the back for the design center that really allowed us to focus on helping clients with just design. We spent the next years meeting new customers building relationships and actually building a lot of friendships with our customers and it was extremely humbling how the community supported us as a local business and a family-owned business. We truly have been blessed by that and I want to go on record as saying thank you to everybody who's been a part of it. So by 2020 we came to terms with the fact we had to find a place and we did. We are so thankful that we have found this new location that will provide all the things that we need to make it a wonderful experience for our customers to come and shop and at the same time house all the other things we need as far as inventory and loading dock and just it's a much better place for JD's in our long-term future. We're really excited about it. So the third thing I wanted to chat with you about is be sure to follow us on our upcoming social media posts as well as our YouTube channel. If you love to watch the design process before and after a little behind the scenes you're really going to want to watch us for this and we're going to have some new things about the new store. A lot of DIY stuff that Jennifer does on her YouTube channel is going to show up in the new store as well. She's going to several projects that will make our store have that Jennifer character and we've also in the new store been able to set aside a special room just for YouTube recordings and DIY projects and all those kinds of fun things.
