Boat racing skippers participate in the Sammamish Slough Outboard Classic at Lake...HD Stock Footage
They call it the crookedest race in the world and it's all above board. The race, the boats are all
outboard. From Lake Washington at Seattle through the twists and turns of the Samish Slough,
skilled racing skippers plan at their sea-going fronts for 13 and a half perilous miles.
Crooked is one word for it and fast is another. With spray flying astern and with the wakes of
other craft to contend with, it can be a slough of despair at times, an aquatic steeplechase.
The course goes through cattails, farmland, and a variety of local flora and fauna,
none of which a guy has time to fully catalog. He's too busy. Outboard, out of bounds. What
happens? Some spectators are so cowed by the goofy goings-on that they take it on the lam.
Watch, it's time to slough down.
