Hello, I'm Jennifer. In today's video you're going to come behind the scenes
and see how me and my team transform our store for the holidays.
So come along. We only have two days to transform the entire store so we start
listening to Scott's plan for day one. Then we start moving and rearranging the
furniture in the store to make room for six Christmas trees. Shells for
accessories and ribbon and space for ornaments and not to mention
all the greenery. While some of the team moves furniture
the other half begins unboxing and putting up all the trees.
Even our smallest team members help out. Now setting up trees is no small task.
Scott and I are both very particular about how to set up trees for them to
look their best. Each branch must be fluffed and
spread out to give the tree as much volume as possible.
Then of course it's time to add lights. Then my girls begin adding our designer
ribbon to the shelf stacking them perfectly for display.
There is just nothing like a good ribbon. Now that the trees are fluffed I can
begin decorating them. We will have a total of six trees in the
store so I have a lot of work to do. While I work on the trees a large
portion of the team starts unboxing ornaments.
This is such a fun job. It's like unwrapping Christmas presents and being
surprised at what's inside. I choose many design styles of
ornaments all different shapes and colors so I can design each tree with a
different style and offer my customers unique ornaments for their trees.
We try to keep the ornaments at the base of the trees that they match
so that means we fill dozens of baskets to the brim
with ornaments. My choice of ornaments usually fall into three categories
classic, traditional Christmas, glamorous, and woodsy.
Which is your favorite Christmas style? Let me know in the comments.
One of my favorite things we did this year is creating a mantle to display
garland. Scott found a local business that sold
these excellent beams that we actually used as an outdoor mantle on our own
back porch. He attached the supporting pipes to the
wall and he and Juan set the incredibly heavy beam on top.
I realized with all the trees I had to get done that it was time to get some
help so Alice, Jenna, and Bailey all got to work
helping me bring my designs to life. Then the rest of the team began pulling
all the greenery, stems, and different types of garlands
for display. Then it was time to pull accessories.
This might be my favorite part of the day. It is so
fun to see all the things I ordered back in January
finally in our hands. I get a lot of questions from you guys about the
business side of JD's and I thought while we're transforming the store for
the holidays I would tell you about one of our most
important business tools and that is Lightspeed.
Lightspeed is not only our point of sale system for JD's but it also helps us
to operate our business on many levels. When you have a growing
business and are trying to learn a new system
it can be overwhelming. Luckily Lightspeed is always there to answer questions and
walk you through any processes that you're still not
getting the hang of. This kind of customer service is so
important for a business and this is why we chose Lightspeed.
One of the most valuable tools Lightspeed offers is the ability to
analyze sales-based information. For example, when I go under the reports tab
Lightspeed told me how many fall candles we sold this season
and based on that number I realized the projection for Christmas candles
will be far greater than I anticipated so I quickly placed an additional order
for more Christmas candles. We read Lightspeed reports frequently to
keep us informed on our best sellers and shopping patterns so that we can better
provide products for our customers. Another great tool Lightspeed provides
is the capability to create profiles for our customers.
These profiles keep track of any information they provide us
as well as their past sales and special orders.
If the customer provides their email Lightspeed has a loyalty program that
allows you to send out newsletters. This is a huge way our business
encourages repeat visits and gives us the opportunity to create a
more personal connection with our customers.
If you're a business looking for a point-of-sale system
I highly recommend Lightspeed. We use it and it makes a difference.
And finally, we are finished. After a long two days of hard work
the store is ready for the Christmas season. Check it out!
The holidays at JD's is one of my very favorite times of the year. If you're
local or perhaps you're traveling through we
are located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and we would absolutely love it if you
stopped by. Thank you so much for watching. Be sure
to subscribe to my channel. Hit the bell it'll tell you when I have
a new video out and everybody stay safe and stay well.
