The Nazca lines are one of the most intriguing mysteries of ancient Peru Thousands of geometric shapes trapezoids lines stripes and spirals have been drawn on the desert surface for unknown purposes Many are familiar with the outlines of the most famous large drawings a spider a condor a monkey The question that has always puzzled archaeologists as well as anyone interested in the history of South America Who drew these figures When For what purpose And why were they made with such precision The first reports from the lines came from Peruvian military and civilian pilots who They flew over the area in the 1920s Located in southern Peru on the Nazca plateau the Nazca lines are geoglyphs giant drawings and figures painted on the desert surface about two millennia ago It mainly consists of regular geometric shapes lines and trapezoids but among them There are about 30 drawings depicting plants animals or abstract figures The geoglyphs cover an area of more than a thousand square kilometers Almost all perfectly executed drawings can only be seen from a great height But some primitive images mostly human drawings can be seen on the slopes They are believed to have been created between 500 B C and 600 A D This is how the Nazca geoglyphs are dated by archaeologists historians and mathematicians who have studied them carefully for decades But few people know about the existence of another type of giant drawings The first of them opened from a tourist plane in the 1990s It is located between the Nazca plateau and the city of Palpa and is known as Estrella Now we fly over it The drawing is completely different from traditional Nazca geoglyphs It is a geometric construction consisting of circles squares and points That's what it looks like from the surface of the earth Rows of neglected stones Lines drawn with a foot or a stick Individual stones or piles of stones You can see the old rotting poles that may have been used by the builders This drawing is one of the largest found in the Nazca region 20 meters It was absolutely impossible to understand what was being drawn on the floor In academic science the drawing is not taken seriously Considering it a fake for tourists This is completely natural although some researchers suggest the drawing has a much deeper meaning In the end it turned out this is not the only image of its kind There is another similar pattern on the edge of the plateau that is already marked on the maps It is often called a mandala By analogy with the famous ancient Indian drawings Typical images of Hindu and Buddhist cultures Its size is about 120 meters It differs from a star in details Part of it is applied on a very uneven terrain and part of it is applied at the bottom of the gorge At the same time the proportions are well maintained and look perfect from above The drawing has many details and its construction is very complex Not far from the mandala is another interesting and incomprehensible drawing It connects two opposite sides of the gorge There are small stars at the ends and a large star with 16 rays in the middle Remember this because we will meet again with something similar In 2010 from a plane we managed to find several similar images in the Palpa area These are complex large-scale drawings They are not visible on satellite maps and are almost impossible to see from an airplane The high-resolution photos helped us find them Now we see part of the grid drawing A similar grid with a more complex pattern is located several hundred meters away We flew over the crossroads drawing from a bird's eye view This is perhaps the most complex and the most detailed drawing of this plateau Its center is clearly visible Eight overlapping circles The diameter of the central part is 35 meters The size of the drawing itself is about 200 Another drawing we call circles located next to the crossroads The center of the drawing is clearly visible as overlapping circles The circles also appear as if they were strung along a diameter Here is a very interesting and mysterious feature These circles in the center are surrounded by rows of stones And on this side the circles are made with a barely perceptible line of dots Where the circles are clearly visible The builders used stones from the desert surface There are few stones on this side They were removed before during the construction of large lines And therefore here the circles are drawn with a dotted line With one foot or a stick What makes this part of the drawing practically invisible from a small height This is a very important detail We see that here were built large abstract geometrically regular figures which are completely impossible to see and understand Not only on the surface of the earth but also for an observer from the air That is the most important thing here was to maintain the accuracy of all e proportions of these huge images Perhaps when it was fresh all the details were visible or perhaps they were illuminated in some way Who For what purpose did these figures make these numbers These questions are very difficult to answer A greater exploration of the Nazca region continues to bring New discoveries that raise even more questions Many of these figures have already been written about in articles and some are shown in the video but recently new details have been discovered An example of this is a simpler star-like drawing On a natural or perhaps artificial mound the central stone is clearly visible It is surrounded by eight stones in a circle Eight radios extend quite a bit They are limited only by the terrain Within a 100-meter radius the stones are arranged in a regular pattern The beams were made without a strict distance between the stones Here is a similar drawing made in the same way The figure of the pilot is clearly visible on the scale A small circle bordered by stones is visible but let's discuss this further ahead That's what it looks like from the ground Central stone and diverging rays These are the simplest drawings of this kind Here is an entire group of figures drawn very close to each other This is a more complex drawing it has many more details This is what its internal structure looks like The sights corners and lines are visible around the large circle Unfortunately the drawing is covered in sand A lot was lost and it is no longer possible to make a detailed drawing Look there is a drawing very similar to the mandala that I showed before That's what their center looks like from the ground The lines are very similar to the traditional Nazca lines The following figure shows concentric circles Figures of this type have approximately the same dimensions These are concentric circles with diameters of 28 56 and 112 meters We can see that the center is drawn on the top of a small hill and the circles themselves follow the uneven terrain A solo 100 meters away there is exactly the same pattern Here is its center the first circle the second And we see where the largest circle is applied It is completely incomprehensible why it was necessary to draw circles In such a complex relief if there is enough uniform space nearby From above the circles don't look perfect but it depends on the angle from which the drone's camera is shooting If we look from a very high altitude the circles will appear correct For example now the drone is hanging over a section of the arch And the arc will appear perfectly uniform If were to pass exactly over this site we would also see soft outlines It is unknown what tasks the builders completed here Another similar drawing Here part of the arch runs through a quite deep ravine and a very steep slope Look again there is enough flat free space The distortions of a large circle passing through the bottom of the ravine The lines are clearly visible which is due to the drone's camera angle I found six similar patterns four of which were applied to complex reliefs Last year when I gave a report on the Nazca lines I showed this diagram It shows approximately the locations of the star figures In satellite maps such images are practically invisible And therefore they came to an agreement through very indirect and imperceptible signs They have suggested that some of the stars might be connected by stone lines And this year in February I managed to take a trip and try to find drawings in this place I had to search in complete darkness Yes almost nothing is visible on satellite maps so it's likely you won't find anything on site and the trip will be in vain From the city of Nazca it was necessary to go quite a distance It was necessary to cross the entire Nazca plateau along the Pan American Highway and for a while head toward the ocean You also had to cross the river At this time of year the river flowed swiftly and it was not always possible to navigate I often had to take difficult roads and walk a lot For the first time I managed to navigate the river and immediately reach the right place It was completely unknown whether anything would be found or not But not far from the entrance to the gorge there were piles of stones and arches made of rows of stones Following the terrain's elevation it became clear that the journey was not in vain An absolutely amazing image unfolded from the drone We see a figure that resembles an eight-pointed star Then a complex system of circles The intricate internal structure of the geoglyph has many different elements Crosses points lines corners Several separate circles and a star-shaped structure are visible at the top of the hill This is an entire group of unknown stars The geoglyph is partially covered in sand and damaged by the road So let's look at it in the drawing The solid thick lines are rows of stones Thin solid lines are lines drawn by a stick or a foot Dots are piles of separate stones Dashed lines are virtual lines on which stones are placed regularly The eight-pointed star and the large circle form a single system The right circles and the upper star were probably applied separately Interestingly the two circles on the right are approximately the same size pending and proportions of the circles of the tourist star that was shown to the Beginning of the report and is located tens of kilometers from this place That is the authors are the same and the construction of these figures pursued a specific goal Another very important detail The thick gray line is the center line of the stacks Stones that run along the gorge and connect all the stars into unlikely that the drawings rotate by one and a half to two degrees relative to each other Many stars that we have seen and will see have minor inaccuracies This is largely due to the carelessness and imperfection of the builders' tools But it is very possible that sometimes the builders introduced deliberately some asymmetry The number 3 is similar to the image shown earlier A star connecting a ray to the opposite side of the canyon There is a circle on the line divided into 16 parts And this is what the other slope looks like A stick is clearly visible in the star which was probably used in the construction or use of this geoglyph The drawing shows that the axis passes through a circle This next geoglyph is number 4 It looks different from all the previous ones It seems we see an entire system of symbols that have a defined and important meaning Judging by the quality of its execution the drawing shows a plus sign made of two rotated squares It recalls the central part of the mandala For simplicity we call it a sprout It is notable how the axial lines interact with the geoglyphs The circle is almost tangent to it It starts from the edge of the tip This is glyph number 5 Bud and circles The central line is clearly visible extending to glyph 4 It has just been examined Here is a narrow part of the gorge making a small zigzag Stars so to speak refers to all the turns of the axis The following is an unusual group consisting of a bud and triangles The triangles indicate the slopes of the canyon The following geoglyph is a bud and triangles pointing along the gorge toward its open end Interestingly the triangles indicate the turns and the narrow part of the gorge As if it were specifically for the plane This is very noticeable from a drone Here is a sketch of the fifth and sixth geoglyph The adjustment of the angles of the geoglyphs and the axials is clearly visible The seventh drawing is notable because the bud is so to speak superimposed over the triangles Next are several geoglyphs similar to each other The number 10 is a simple sprout that marks the axial break These notable findings may provide clues about when these stars were built The number 8 has many footprints Some belong to modern motorcycles such as the ninth geoglyph route But many of the paths seemed irregular and could not belong to modern transportation It turned out that through this gorge It was an old colonial-era cliff path Throughout the gorge large fragments of colonial-era pottery could be found crafted with the help of a potter's wheel It is also noticeable that these footprints exceed the geoglyphs damaging them That is perhaps the geoglyphs were made before the Spanish conquest This also indicates the fact that in the geoglyphs themselves sometimes there were elaborate ceramics made without a potter's wheel at is before the Spanish conquest It could be possible to determine a more precise date through radiocarbon analysis of the partially decayed sticks which are often found in the stars We aimed our drone over the central line You can clearly see how it was done piles of stones and short lines This is the seventeenth star It is different from its predecessors It has an irregular structure many incomprehensible details Here there is a schematic drawing of it It is connected by a straight line with several figures implying a general plan That is Perhaps we will see a huge group of stars more than a kilometer in size It is crossed by several diameters in which small lines are visible at they pass through This diameter is captured from the surface and this is what it looks like from the ground Stones on the slope A row of stones that passes through the center of the geoglyph which by the way seems very incomprehensible and careless from the ground Additionally The line passes through the center and extends to the opposite slope and even slightly enters the plateau This is the end of the entire group of stars After 18 no axial geoglyphs or any other type were found but this area It requires more studies It should be added that stars can be seen in other places One of them is located not far from the Star Gorge but it is not connected to the central line with the group and is not included the general combination of stars It is not visible on satellite maps and is probably almost impossible to see from an airplane It was found By accident This was the hardest star to find on this trip Also after processing the video it became clear that this is just a part A larger image Here is another part of the image that unfortunately did not appear in the video It can be observed that there is some negligence In the drawing but there is no doubt that the builders had a plan a specific project that is they knew exactly what they were drawing and why You can see many brands and other small details around the image The drawing like many others is applied over the old The Nazca lines From the figure axes emerge that probably also end in other figures Some diameters They go far enough hundreds of meters maybe kilometers And it would be perfectly natural to talk about its authors and their purpose But this will be part of another study and the reason for this is as follows Also there is an entire group A whole layer of findings that are directly related to the geoglyphs we saw and therefore many new questions arise In the diagram You can see a dark square between the numbers 3 and 4 This one is also a large image It also has an axial line passing through it but it is not included In our star review because this drawing belongs to another type of mysterious geoglyphs These include these strange drawings as well as geometric images that apply to the ancient Nazca geoglyphs and so to speak interact with them Eve No details of the star we saw and one can assume that given the late age from the star compared to the lines of Nazca the stars were a continuation of the construction of geoglyphs their development were applied Possibly from the Wari culture era until the Spanish conquest of the central part of South America Anthropologists and ethnologists Archaeologists study these areas thoroughly and that is why there are many theories about the purpose of the Nazca lines Some They suggest that these are traces of a fertility cult others say that giant drawings were built for the celestialgods There are
