KYOTO JAPAN　2011年4月5日撮影。日本の桜の名所のひとつで京都観光では、桜の名所が人気。名所としては平安神宮外苑をはじめ、豊臣秀吉が晩年に花見を行った醍醐寺が有名。ほかに清水寺、嵐山や京都御苑が知られる。一般の寺院でも桜が植えられているところが多く、とくにシダレザクラの名所としては平安神宮、天龍寺、二条城、常照皇寺などに、2011年のJR東海のCMに登場した東寺のシダレザクラも知られる。また、円山公園のシダレザクラは近年、花の勢いが無くしており、観るのが忍びない。散策しながら楽しめる場所としては、約1.5キロの疎水べりの「哲学の道」や「半木の道」などがお勧め。また、嵐山まで走る電車の「嵐電」の車窓から眺める桜トンネルは、夜にはライトアップされ、車内も照明が落とされ、幻想的な夜桜が眺められます。
