Hi everyone it's Jeanette here from Enthusiastic Gardener. I am
at a secret location which is actually my school
and school's closed at the moment but I'm in today and I just thought
let's go out by the beautiful pond because as you know I won't be here
for very much longer so I need to appreciate
the lovely surroundings that I've had the privilege of working in for the past
13 and a half years. Today I have a very special
video for you because we're having a garden tour and the garden tour
is by none other than my beautiful sister-in-law
Anne-Marie and Anne-Marie and I have known each other
for absolutely years. She is Richard's younger sister.
Richard has an older brother called Neil and
we want Neil to give us a garden tour if you're watching Neil.
Neil has just got heavily into gardening and just had his garden design so
hopefully he can show us that sometime or at least
some pictures. So he's the old brother then
Richard has a twin brother called Robert so then there's Richard and Robert
and then they the three of them have a younger sister
called Anne-Marie and I met Anne-Marie when she was 11
and I was 14 so we've known each other an awful long time,
really really long time. We've been very good friends all that time although I
have not seen her for a long time because she does not
live anywhere near me anymore. She used to be in the army
first of all she went in the army and she did loads of exciting things and
traveled around. She lived in Germany in Dusseldorf for a couple of years
then she was stationed in Ashford in Kent so she lived there and in a
beautiful village called Appledore. She had a chocolate box house and she
did exciting things for the army and she taught
the army cadets on their training and they would do things like
they do adventure things and they do abseiling down
water towers and they do shooting and she trained them and did all that.
Then she decided she would move all the way
up to the other end of the whole country
which is to Shetland and Shetland Isles if you don't know
is the very very northerly island way past Scotland in fact it's so far
north that the nearest city is not even in
Scotland it's in Bergen Norway which is about
200 miles away and Edinburgh and Glasgow are around
300 miles away so that's how far away she was
and her nearest shots were 26 miles away so it's just
absolutely so far. We did go and visit though
so I'm pleased to say I have been to Shetland.
So then she met her husband Alan and they now live in Perthshire on
mainland Scotland and they have a beautiful daughter Izzy
who is of course my niece and Izzy is absolutely horse and pony mad
as is Annemarie they go riding and Izzy is also a member of the Pegasus
Faulting Club and that's basically gymnastics on horseback she is
absolutely fantastic and they travel the country and they
enter competitions and they win and she is amazing
but they decided they wanted to move Alan
wanted to live in a house that he could walk
in the garden all the way around the house so now they live in a tiny little
village called Logerate and there are only 95 people
in her village and the neighbouring villages which are called
Strath Tay and Ballinluig. I'm probably saying completely wrong
and it sits on the southern highlands and it has the rivers Tay
and the river Tummel running right through it. They wanted to rescue
ponies so that's another reason why they moved to this beautiful new house
and they now have two ponies and they rent the paddock
just by their house and they have a a beautiful pony called Lottie and
another little miniature Shetland pony called Mischief.
They only moved there in December so they've only had this spring
and this summer to do anything. I'll tell you if that was my garden
the sky's the limit what you could do in this garden it's absolutely
beautiful and the view is breathtaking so let's go over to Annemarie now
and have a look at her beautiful garden.
So this is a wee tour of our garden. We've been here since December and it
was very overgrown when we got here. This is the lower level at the back of
the house and we have two more levels which I'll
show you later. Now we're just coming around to the
front of the house. Do you a long view from here it's an
awful lot in the garden that's been planted up but it's just grown so
there's so much in it and here we are at the front of the
house. I'm just going to spin around so you can see
the view from the front of the house and this is
our view, pretty special. Okay this is one of our spots first
thing and we're admiring the view and now
we go around the corner here we've got hazelnut, two hazelnut
bushes. I have remembered to take my washing in this time
Jeanette and then we go up the steps and my husband has just put down ant
powder everywhere which has spoilt the view unfortunately on the floor.
So this gets the sun in the morning and it's a bit shadier in the evening
and we've just been working on this border here
because this is very overgrown but we've got
red currants, over the back we've got black currants
if you can see there's gooseberries and very poorly raspberries as well which
isn't coming along too well. Now I'm not going
to go down the other side from here but you can actually get down
that side but that's our rubbish end and you won't want to see that.
So we'll just head back down to the front go around the other side
again. We are heading back around the front
to look at the view because it is good. This bed we did
was extremely overgrown so we've put some new ones in there
and taken some old ones out and we've also got
raspberries right at them, not raspberries sorry, we got gooseberries
right at the back which are really ripe and sweet
and red. You can see them there. So let's head up to the top getting a
sense of the height now. This is the first level and this is my
morning coffee spot so you get an even better view.
And now we can go up the top level see if we can get a bird of prey in.
I think we'll just finish up here with a quick look at the lovely lavender.
Isn't that just fabulous? I could not believe
the gorgeous view and Anne-Marie has always liked
the country life and that sort of thing. So she's happy and Izzy's happy she can
deal with her ponies and Alan's happy he can walk all the
way around the garden. So everyone is happy and I hope that we
can go and visit Richard and I soon. That would be lovely. So anyway I hope
you enjoyed that video. I think it's a gorgeous gorgeous garden
and thank you for watching. I'm Jeanette, I am The Enthusiastic Gardener.
Take care and I will see you again soon. Thanks for watching.
Bye.
