Before I came here when I was 15 years old,
I only thought about myself.
But after I moved here, I started to think about my customers,
the girls I used to hang out with,
and the country I live in.
I think I can see a lot of things around me.
I can see the world.
I'm Fukunai from Miyagawa. I'm 18 years old.
My name is Shigemori, and I'm in love with Maiko.
I've always wanted to come to Kyoto,
but I've also been fascinated by Japanese traditional entertainment.
I saw a documentary about Maiko,
and I thought,
there's such a beautiful Maiko in Kyoto.
If I can get used to it, I'd like to do it,
and I'd like to learn a lot of languages.
Maiko usually practice in the afternoon,
but they usually start practicing at 10 or 11,
so they usually get up around 9 in the morning.
After that, they put on their kimono,
and go to a place called Kagurenjo,
where they practice.
After that, they go to a place called Kagurenjo,
I get my hair done by a hairdresser.
I get my hair done once a week.
I can do it all in about 40 minutes.
The kids who just started sleeping with Maiko
don't get their hair done in the beginning,
so I get my hair done by a hairdresser,
or by a Maiko in my room.
Then I study and practice.
Drawing on my face is art,
and it's like drawing a picture on my face,
so I want to draw it beautifully.
So I practiced a lot.
I love drawing, so it's fun.
When I look at it, it makes me feel good,
and I'm interested in it.
For example, how I drew this picture,
or how to blur it,
I don't like Maiko,
so I have to draw it in a cute way.
If I draw my eyebrows in a straight line,
it doesn't look cute,
so I draw it in a round moon shape.
I draw my eyebrows a little smaller,
and I blur it with pink.
I'm going to put this on a man's shoulder.
The obi is about 6 or 7 meters long,
so I have to tie it at the back,
but I can't tie it unless I have the strength of a man.
I tie it like this,
and I have to lift this long obi up
to make something.
The kimono I wear on New Year's Day is heavy,
but it's more than 10 kg,
so I can go to the party at 6 o'clock.
From now on,
I will work until about 12 o'clock.
First of all,
I want to make various people happy.
I had a customer who came from abroad,
and she said,
she cried a lot when she saw me
wearing this kimono.
I said,
I'm glad I was born.
I'm really happy. Thank you.
At that time,
I'm glad I met Mayuko.
I can make various people smile,
so I'm glad.
It's going to be tough,
but reality is different from what I think.
I have to be prepared for various things.
If you want to be yourself,
you have to go straight through that feeling
and be confident in something.
I think it's better to do it.
I think it's good.
My goal is to become a geiko.
I'll do my best for the next three and a half years.
