We all have our daily habits and routines. In the morning we get up, take a shower,
wash our teeth and have breakfast. But the daily routines in the coldest place on earth
is something different. It's Sunday morning and it's a day for a shower in the Yakut village.
The shower in Yakut village is quite different. People here don't have water showers because
pipes freezes during cold and long winters. So taking a shower might turn into the adventure.
Vitaly is chopping the wood for his bath house. Look how much wood he needs just for one shower.
This is because the temperature needs to be over 100 degrees in the steam room.
It takes around 5 hours of heating. That's why people here are only able to shower once a week.
Now it's time to heat the bath house by filling the stove with wood.
After the fire is on and the door is closed, now it's time to find water for a shower.
Vitaly harvested the ice from the lake. The ice in the Yakut village is mainly used as a drinking
and shower water. Since the ice is not enough for a whole winter, Vasily is collecting the snow from
his yard to use it for a shower. After five hours when the bath house is heated to the right
temperature, it's finally ready for showering. The temperature inside the bath house is around
100 degrees. It's incredibly hot but very satisfying, especially when it's minus 50 degrees
outside. The heat and humidity of a steam room help to relax, boost your immune system,
release tension and also it helps to burn up to 300 calories without having done anything else.
He will spend about 20 to 30 minutes in the bath house. When Vitaly finished his showering,
he hurries back home straight to bed and sleep like a baby. How about you guys? What are your
showering habits? Let me know in the comments. And thanks for watching! Have a nice day! Bye!
