Sydney Michelle McLaughlin is the current world record holder in the 400 women’s metres hurdles with a time of 51.90 seconds set. She won the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships in the 400 m hurdles.

McLaughlin holds a number of age group world bests and won the Gatorade National Girls Athlete of the Year trophy for both 2015–16 and 2016–17. She placed third in the 400 metres hurdles at the 2016 United States Olympic Trials, qualifying for the 2016 Summer Olympics. McLaughlin has a personal best of 50.07 in the 400m. She broke the world record in the 400 hurdles on June 27, 2021 with a time of 51.90, the first woman ever to break 52 seconds in the event.

Dalilah Muhammad
Dalilah Muhammad is an American track and field athlete who specializes in the 400 meters hurdles. A 2016 Rio Olympics champion[2] and 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medalist, she won a gold medal at the 2019 World Championships, setting the former world record with a time of 52.16 seconds. Muhammad is only the second female 400 m hurdler in history, after Sally Gunnell, to have won the Olympic, World titles and broken the world record. In 2019, she added a gold in the 4×400 m relay, having won silver medals in her signature event at the 2013 and 2017 World Championships.
