What is going on, everybody? Welcome back to the channel. Welcome back to the vlog. It's another
beautiful Monday morning here in New York City. I'm currently on my way to work, obviously because
it's Monday. I am currently on vascular surgery yet again. As you can see, a common trend.
Finished out a month of residency on vascular surgery in North Carolina, followed by a first
week of fellowship here on vascular surgery. Sorry, I'm out of breath. It's a long hill I'm
walking on. And this is my second week now in vascular surgery. So I tried to make a vlog last
week, but it was crazy hectic. You know, I wasn't getting out of the hospital until super late.
And I tried, but I failed miserably. So I had to cut it short, and I just scrapped the whole
thing because it wasn't going anywhere. Kind of like a lot of these vlogs. But you guys seem to
like them, so I'm going to keep doing them. All right, anyways, I'm going to work right now.
I'll check in in a little bit once I get settled in. We have four cases on the schedule today,
so hopefully no add-ons. Well, if we do get an add-on, it doesn't really matter. Also,
check this out for a sec. Hold on. I keep getting interrupted by a million things. How about this?
A little Ferrari sitting right there. Hmm. I like that. I think that's a 488.
Or a 458. Someone in the comments told me if that's a 488 or a 458, because I can't tell
if they're at the top. Anyways. All right, guys. I'll check in with you in a little bit,
and I'll try to keep this vlog going this week.
All right. I just took the city bike home from work. I was, like, sprinting. I don't know why
I was pedaling so fast. Anyways, I had a pretty good day at work today. Did a whole bunch of
vascular cases. Did an AB graft, a D-plot, which is basically when you have an AB arteriovenous
fistula in your upper extremity, and it gets thrombosed off for a million different reasons.
It always happens. Had to D-plot it. Next, I did two AB fistulas. So, arteriovenous fistula is
also for dialysis work. They were having some issues in dialysis. Had to balloon open some
areas of narrowing along those. And after that, we just placed a tunnel dialysis catheter in someone.
So, basically, it was just a huge dialysis day. We were supposed to do a lower extremity
anterodrome, but for some reason, I think the patient ate breakfast or something, so we had
to cancel the whole case, which is great because it's 6 o'clock now on all those cases. That's
the one it took. So, if I had to do that lower extremity, who knows? I may not get home till,
like, 8 or 9 p.m. tonight. So, overall, it wasn't a bad day. I'll try to see. So, the whole point of
I'm doing these vlogs more and more because I think I'm going to start, like, showing some of
the images that I do these procedures on and kind of walk you guys through it. I have to talk to a
few more people at my new hospital because I'm new here, so I don't really know the whole situation
on how that works and all that stuff. But, all right. I have a couple of packages, which I'm
pretty excited about. I think they may pertain to my desk, but we'll see. So, I'm gonna get those
right now. All right. So, I know you guys can probably barely see me. Let's see if I can switch
to the other side. Hold on. Maybe this might be better. I'm not sure if it's bright enough, but,
or maybe if I stand by the light. So, it is about 10 30 at night right now. Adriana worked a crazy
12 p.m. to 10 p.m. shift tonight, so I decided, even though I'm super tired and I was in bed,
I'll just go over to her job and walk her home. I don't know. Why not, you know?
It's actually pretty nice out right now. I haven't been out this late on a weekday
in a long time, and it's quite peaceful in the city, especially during these weird times.
And I know I keep going in and out of darkness over here, but yeah, it's kind of peaceful
walking on the streets this late at night. It's a little hot, but it's not crazy hot.
Like, I hate sweating. I already showered, and I don't want to start sweating again, but
whatever. And you see my little Picmonic shirt here? I'm gonna do a video with them soon. I was
just talking with them tonight via email, so stay tuned for that video. And yeah, let's go find
the wife. It is now Tuesday morning. Another beautiful day. I tried to get a good night's
sleep last night, but as you know, I ended up walking and drowning to work and stayed up a
little too late. I think I've been telling myself I'm going to go to bed at, like, 9 p.m. for the
past 10 days, and I've failed every single time. So I'm just going to be, like, perpetually tired.
Anyways, we have a vascular surgery conference this morning in which they present some
interesting cases, and then we have three lagged today, or lower extremity angiograms,
possible interventions, and we'll see how those go shortly. And just finished my first case of
the day. It was a very successful lower extremity angiogram in stenting. This poor patient had
completely polluted SFA. We dropped three stints in that bad boy, and the flow, I tell you, was so
beautiful when we finished. It was just, it was something of beauty. It was art, I tell you. So
just finished that. About to do a fistula study right now, and we'll catch in whenever I have a
So I started this whole thing where I was trying to be, like, super...
Sorry, I was in the shot. They're taking photos back here. Must be fellow Instagramers.
Anyways, so super, super crazy day today. I've learned that here it's just, like,
crazy all day long, and we're just crushing cases, seeing patients, moving patients in and out of
rooms, and it's just kind of, like, non-stop. And today was no different, obviously.
Had a couple of good cases today, some good embolizations, which a lot of people ask me what
embolizations are, and basically that's when we bring a small, small catheter all the way down
to the vessel that's bleeding, usually arterial, or an artery somewhere in the pelvis or the body
that's bleeding, and we inject an embolization material once we're down there. We usually use,
like, glue. Yes, glue. Coil, which is like a platinum coil that plugs up the vessel,
or a number of different other things we can use as well, but this time we chose to use glue,
so we get down to the vessel, catheterize it once we see it's bleeding, and we mix up a glue
with basically a radiopaper oil and glue, like, literally glue you can get at the hardware store.
Not Elmer's glue, but a little more expensive and pricey. Mix that stuff together, we inject it in
the vessel, and it kind of seals it off and stops bleeding, so not too bad once you get in there and
find the right vessel. That's the hardest part. So I'm going home now. I'm starving and tired,
I'm about to eat so much. I'm super excited. I finished work, and I have a huge package
waiting for me at home, so let's see what's inside. Did I just work 12 hours? Am I sweaty
as all get out from biking all the way home? Yes. Do I normally take a shower right now?
Yes, but I've got a very important unboxing to do for you today. Probably the most excited I've
been about opening a box in as long as I can remember, so let's go. Some of you may remember
what this is. Also, I mean, I look terrible right now. This is what I look like after work,
but again, I just don't care. Yes, this is my first ever MacBook Pro. We are about to step up
our game, everybody, because now we have fast editing software. This thing's pumped out to the
max, whatever that means. I just upgraded everything I possibly could, so let's go ahead and open it.
I love Apple's unboxing. Oh, yes. Yes, yes, yes. Oh, my God. Yes. This lift tab right here.
Oh, it's just so beautiful. It matches my scrubs. I mean, I didn't even plan this.
The space gray, space gray fig scrubs. I mean, you can't get any better than this. This thing
is so beautiful, I don't even want to, like, touch it, but I do. So let's open it. All right,
this is, like, a little too much, right? It's already turning on. This thing, this thing is
impeccable. So I'm about to set this up. So basically, not much comes in this box besides
a little instructions, a power box, power cable, and I think that's it. And what you guys don't
know is that this is the final piece to the puzzle of my desk setup, which is just over there.
Anyways, my desk over there is actually basically done now. This is the last thing that was holding
me up. So expect a desk setup video. I spent way too much money on it, but it's coming soon,
and maybe you guys can pick out a thing or two you like from that desk setup, but it's
pretty legit. It's probably the best desk setup I've ever had. Well, it is, and it's the first
I've, like, actually researched and, like, got everything up to speed on. So super excited to
show you guys that. Anyways, that officially concludes this video. I hope you all liked this
day-in-the-life vlog style in New York City. Let me know in the comments below what you think.
Let me know if I should get a cover for this MacBook or just go
straight up. No cover and risk damaging it. Make sure you smash that like,
subscribe, and follow me on Instagram if you don't already. Otherwise, I'll see you all on the next
video.
