Hello Crafty Friends, this is Maddie and let's get creative.
So I just wanted to share one more Valentine's video with you guys.
Um, sorry it's so late coming.
This is the trade spray that I put together.
And this little old fashioned car.
I'll have a little tutorial at the end about that if you're interested.
Just stay tuned.
Um, the little white part is just a dollar tree find.
Um, the little white house is from Ikea.
And the little love sign is from Dollar Tree as well.
And those little bundles of greenery.
I'm just going to show one right here.
So, it's actually a faux lamb deer.
So I'm hoping to do a short video about that.
Hopefully tomorrow I can get that out.
Um, and then I just bundled it with some dollars from Dollar Tree Greenery.
And then just made little tiny bundles.
To tuck into the tree just to give it some fullness and texture.
So those bundles at Dollar Tree are literally just called greenery.
I don't think they have a specific name.
Um, this little pink stone heart in the front, that's a Dollar Tree kit as well.
And I really love the faux grey look of the stone.
So there's a little tutorial on that at the end as well.
So if you're interested in that sort of thing.
Um, I've always loved little robots.
Like old fashioned robots.
So this is a cute one that I found with my friend when I was drifting.
So I was pretty happy to find that little sweetie.
Um, the little heart is from Dollar Tree.
The candle is from Dollar Tree.
The little moon is from Dollar Tree.
And then just those little greenery bundles.
And that little red sphere is from Dollar Tree as well.
Um, the little, um, hearts that you see on the middle.
Um, the middle level there.
That is, um, two hearts that I just put together.
So it would be double, like a double sided heart.
Or the same thing.
Um, there actually is pieces of stickers that copy that one from same place.
Um, a little gnome.
Um, I think it's from one of my previous Valentine's Day videos.
Um, the flowers are just from a local dollar store called Dollar Walmart.
Um, actually those little transies.
Those little violet sort of flowers.
Those are from IKEA.
Um, just some more Dollar Tree stuff.
Those little tools are, um, like bow tools of thread.
Um, they actually just, that's the way the embellishments box comes on in that Dollarama.
So I just thought they were so cute I just put them on their pages like that.
And that Story of Us book.
That is from Dollarama as well.
It's actually a helmet, um, helmet.
So that is pretty miniature.
This love sign is from Dollarama.
Um, the little boxes are from Dollar Tree.
The dinosaur is from Dollar Tree.
The little bear is from Dollar Tree.
And this little lunch box is from Dollar Tree.
It had a plastic handle.
So I just wrapped it with some cotton yarn.
Just to make it look funny.
And there's another one of my favorite little robots.
And my little Lego block is from Dollar Tree in the party section.
And this little sign is from Dollarama.
And the candle.
And the vase is from Dollar Tree.
And those other flowers on the top and to the right.
Those are the drift lines.
And then I'll just move on to the coffee bar that I set up.
So, um, this sign is actually the other side of the Frosty sign that I had done in a previous video.
So if you've watched that, um, you'll know that I lovingly refer to this sign as, um, Forty from Toy Story.
It started out as trash and man did it want to be trashed.
Um, so anyway, there's a long story with that sign.
There's a bit of it at the end of this video if you're interested.
So stay tuned.
Um, that little bear napkin holder was from my local, um, grocery store.
They have some home decor items.
So that was kind of a neat sign at the end of Christmas.
And the truck and the camper are just from Dollar Tree.
And then just some more of that greenery.
And then I found some neat little, um, colored marshmallows from Toy Story.
And some little cheaper bells they're called.
And that little red truck was a Christmas store find and then I just put some hearts inside of it.
And XOXO sign is from Dollar Tree.
That little woven heart box, that was a Christmas store find.
And a little purse from Travel Tree.
That's from Dollar Tree as well as the XOXO sign.
So it's just been really fun putting these together.
I just try and rebuild, um, different heights and different textures.
I find the greenery helps with that a lot.
The little cookies by the coffee maker from Ikea.
And man, are they good.
They're a favorite for sure.
Um, those mugs.
If you're a Star Wars fan you might recognize the wording on those.
The I love you and I know my husband and I are big Star Wars fans.
So that's kind of a little nod to that.
And those little trendy violet flowers in there, those are from Ikea as well.
They came in a little set of three.
So I'm thinking those will be good to have all season and maybe even in December as well.
So this is that little old fashioned car.
It was actually a souvenir from Cuba that my dad brought back for my son.
And it's so cute.
There was so much going into building it.
I just always thought it was so cute.
So I'm just giving it a new life.
And painting it pink.
So I just did the tires with some black.
And then I just wanted to highlight a bit.
Like draw some attention to the details in it.
So I just took a little bit of a darker pink and watered it down a little bit.
And then just painted into the details.
Like just to bring out the definition of everything.
To keep it from looking so flat.
And I just wiped away that excess.
If you'll notice, this car doesn't have a windshield.
It has like two little holes drilled in it.
And I think it was to look like eyes.
Like the cars from the movie Cars maybe.
It's just so cute.
It's so creative down there what they build for souvenirs.
So then once I got it all painted, I wanted to add some parts to the top.
So I had a bunch of different sets.
I can't remember where they came from.
It's a couple different sets.
I think some are from Dollarama and some might be from Dollar Tree.
I think the shiny ones might be from Dollar Tree.
And then I just hot glued them all.
So I actually stuck them together.
They're stickers.
So I stuck two together so that they'd be double sided.
And then just arranged them on top of the cars.
It's too cute just to look like it's all stacked up with parts they love.
So I didn't want it to be permanently attached to the car.
I'm just kind of balancing for now.
But then I decided that it needed a little bit more than just a balancing car.
So I actually opted to run a strip of double sided tape just down the middle of the car.
Because I'm thinking that maybe for Mother's Day or in spring I might put flowers on it instead of the heart.
But they'll use it on their figures.
So I just ran a strip of double sided tape and it held up pretty good.
It kept the hearts in place.
I mean they're pretty light.
They're just foam.
So it wasn't under too much stress.
So the double sided tape worked good.
And hopefully I can figure something out with some flowers down the road as well.
So next up is that little stone, gold stone heart kit from Dollar Tree.
I just thought they were so cute.
I think it's just a gray plaster with a white wash over top.
So I just did the center of the heart with some pink paint.
And it really soaked in.
Because I think it is plaster so it really soaked up the paint.
It took like three coats.
But I was just using Dollar Store paint so you don't get the best coverage of that.
To begin with I should have maybe used some better paint.
Yeah I think it's two, maybe even four coats by the time it's done.
But at least it dries quick because it absorbs into the plaster and then it dries fairly quick.
So I didn't have to worry about being too neat.
Just because I had a plan to go over it with a white wash as well.
To kind of make it match with the stone and blend in.
I felt like the paint was drying almost as fast as I think it is.
And then I'll show here.
So I just went in with some white chalk paint.
And just a bristly brush so I could get down into those little crevices.
And just put the paint all in between the paint and the stone.
And then I couldn't find a rag so I just used a Kleenex.
Like a fairly good quality Kleenex.
And it seems to work okay because then you don't have to do very much with that little bit.
So I just patted away the extra and let all the white stay in those little crevices.
Just like what they had done previous when they manufactured it.
And I thought it turned out really cute.
So here is Orky the sign that was damaged.
And it was going to be headed for the trash and I tried to rescue it.
And it was quite the process with the frame.
Anyway I found this cute design on Etsy that I just wanted to copy.
So I transferred that down to the board.
Just with some chalk pastel on the back and then just traced it out.
So I'm trying out those paint pens that you can get at Dollar Tree.
And they worked pretty well for a Dollar Tree product.
I was quite impressed with how they worked very well.
So I was really struggling with this sign just because of the frame.
And what I had been through with the laminate peeling off of it.
And I wasn't sure I was going to be able to salvage it.
And then once I started painting this I had the idea of mixing all the colors that I used for Valentine.
Trying the purple, the red, and a darker purple.
And it just was not coming together.
I felt like it looked just too dizzy.
So here I thought I could fill in with those paints.
They're like a thicker paint pen.
I think they call them poster paint pens at Dollar Tree.
And they were horrible with the bristled bristles.
So anyway I went over everything in red.
And I'm much happier with it.
And that wraps up the video.
So thank you so much for watching.
