Part 1 of our house build vlogs is finally here!! This has been a really big, dragged out, stressful journey and we don't dive too much into that side of it as we want to show you the exciting stuff but if you have any questions just leave them below and we can answer them in the next vlog. I'm so excited to share and hope you enjoy 💕
Hello everyone and welcome to my first house vlog. Oh my God. So if you're new to my channel,
my name is Tanika. I recently got married and during that time we decided to look at purchasing
land and start building a house, which let me tell you now, was not the best for my stress levels,
but here we are. So Clinton and I actually purchased this land last year in August.
It is now July, so it's almost been a year and things are finally starting. It's been a long
journey and a very, very stressful one. I'm actually just going over to the land now to
show my family because the slap went down during the week and the frames went up. Like what the
hell? So much happened in just a few days, which is very new for this process. Usually nothing
happens. I haven't filmed any footage prior to this about the process of actually purchasing
the land and designing the house. If you do have any questions, just leave them down below and I
can definitely answer them in the next vlog. I feel like this is the fun part though, watching
it get built and seeing everything come together. It's super exciting. So we've got our guttering
and our fascia. I think it's what it's called. Our timber poles went up, which is nice,
and things are just looking a bit more tidier in here. So in love with this. It's going to
look so bloody good. We actually realised we made a mistake in our planning and see this here.
We thought that our back doors would join together like they do in our rental. We missed
the wall in the plan. Oopsie. But it's quite supportive because we've got the raked ceiling,
so it needs to be there. We did enquire about changing it, but it was like eight grand.
So this is the kitchen area. We'll have an island bench here, a window backsplash.
Then here we've got our pantry. We're not doing a butler's pantry, but we're having a walk-in one.
We love looking at our neighbours too, seeing like how their houses are going. Come over into
our bedroom, peek in there. Oh, what's going on? And then I've got a walk-in wardrobe over here.
I've told Clinton that he has to keep it tidy or he's being shunned to a different wardrobe in the
house. We've just come out to the house and our roof is on, which is so exciting. I think that's
all the changes that have been made. Oh my goodness. Oh, this whole vlog is just going to
be me going, oh my God, this is so exciting. But it is. I'm just paying a quick visit to the house
because all of our windows got delivered. This one here, this really big one, is our kitchen
splashback. It's so big. That'll be the one that goes just here. Like it doesn't look as big there
as it does there. Not sure when they're being installed though. They said they just have to
wait for a carpenter, so we'll see. But things are moving along slowly. That's all right. They're
moving. That's all good. All right. It's the 12th of September and we've just come out to the house.
All the windows have been put in and there's some doors on. Oh my God. We've got the garage door.
Lovely. The windows are in. Our bath has been framed up. We've got these for the cavity sliders,
like the framing for that. The big window. Oh my God. Our back doors and our big splashback window.
They've done a few little extra things like this framing up here. Are you happy with it?
Yeah, it's awesome. It's the 21st of September and I've just come out to the house with my sister
to have a little look. They have started the walls. So the roof is all up.
Do you love it? I love it.
And then they've started, well actually they finished our bathroom.
So we've got a little toilet behind here, a shower ledge with double showers. They've also done
this bathroom here, the laundry and some bedrooms. So this actually feels like a real house. Oh my
God. All right. We're out at the house and the walls have been put up. So we've got our media
room. We got Kiki and Tiff Tiff. It looks so much bigger. This is what I'm excited about. My
walk-in wardrobe. Oh, this is just so exciting. And this is the pantry.
You get a walk-in pantry. Like what the hell? We've come to visit the house. We're having our
first official meal. Sausage rolls. We're actually locked out. All the, um, the walls have been done.
So we've kind of locked it up, but we're going to find a way to get in because I want to look
at the roof in there. And we have a fence up on this side because our neighbors have moved in.
Just unlocking the doors. Our bricks are here. Wow. Let's see this roof finished. Oh my God.
All right. We are visiting the house. It's the 24th of October. Clinton has been out here a few
times this week, but the cabinetry is here. Oh my God. A kitchen.
So we did drawers here because I love the deep drawers. They were like an extra,
I think it's a joke, three or $400 per set, but they look good. All right. And then for our
cupboards, we just put a little lip underneath it. So they just pull open the ones we have in
our rental or push. And Oh my God, that's so annoying. Everyone pulls them. It's just a mess.
So this is the kitchen. And then if we go into our bedroom, they've done the vanity.
So we get a side beach, which I'm so excited about. They've done the waterproofing.
They've put all the trim everywhere and they've put doors on.
This is our media room and we've got double sliding doors. How grand
they're a little less squeaky at the moment, but the laundry
in the spare bathroom, not really sure what's next. Our neighbor is only a few steps ahead of
us and she's got all her tiles down. So hopefully that's next. We still didn't have a date.
For moving in, we're just seeing what happens because our contract is meant to end like 8th
of December and that's just over a month away. Yeah. Six weeks. And this is the current state.
So who knows? Also, I forgot to say that the bricks are wrong. I've actually done a lot.
I haven't been out here for two weeks. So they've put all the bricks on the house,
which it's going to be rendered anyway. So it doesn't really matter.
We've got bricks. So it's the 7th of November and we invited the family to all come out and look at
the house. And in the two weeks that we haven't been out here all the one week, they put door
handles on and it's all locked up. So we're all just standing out the front. And I thought we
want to sleep in. Well, then that's your loss because you'll miss the greatest present.
Good morning. We are going furniture shopping today, which I am really excited about Clinton.
Not so much, but that's all right. He just has to agree. And then we need to get so much like we are
doing the whole house. First step or first purchase will be a dining table,
new lounge. We really love the lounge that we have, but it won't fit in our new space,
which is annoying. Need washing machine, dryer, which Clinton's very excited to get a dryer
because I haven't let him have one. What else did I say was on our list? Oh yeah. A bed,
like a whole bedroom suite because the bed that we have at the moment, I've had since I was like
17 and the slats on it are really weird. They're like on a bend and they would always drop out.
And so Clinton put a ratchet strap around it and it's been held together with a ratchet strap for
what do you reckon? Eight years. So yeah, very excited. Well, I'm very excited. The mattress.
That's good. I want to turn. So we like this one, but we need a shorter chase and longer here.
But this is so comfortable and it's nice and deep.
We also like this one, but now after sitting on the deep lounge, we're like,
this just isn't the same as it. Oh yeah. You need your feet. All right. We're in next Scarley. Now
we're just admiring. We don't really like leather couches, but it looks so nice.
And then this funky green chair. I love how it feels.
I will be just stroking a chair. So let me go and find Clinton.
There he is. So we really like this lounge at Nick Scarley and it's on sale
for 1690 four seater. We want to add a chase to it. So it's like this
extra $1,300 just for the chase.
Right. We've just swung by the house because one of our friends has a key because he's the plumber
and the tiles are done in the bathroom. Oh my God. Sorry. Okay. Let me zoom out a bit.
We've done a textured tile and it's in the Herringbone, I don't know, pattern layer. I
don't know what it's called. And then a lighter gray tile for the rest of the bathroom.
And then on this side, our toilet will be behind this wall.
Oh my God. Oh my God. So yeah, we did a lighter tile in here and then a little bit darker in the
