Hi, I'm Rose with Family Recipes Unfolded. Today we'll be joining my Aunt Alex back home in Geneva,
Illinois from where I am, Berlin, Germany over Zoom to make my Grandma Muriel's famous strawberry
rhubarb pie recipe. Let's get started. Hi, I'm Rose and I am on a Zoom call for Family Recipes
Unfolded with my lovely Aunt Alex who is wearing a beautiful piggly shirt and ready to make some
pies. I don't know what I'm doing and I'm excited to learn from you over Zoom.
You can never have too much pie. You can never have too much pie. Okay, so quite a lot of flour
here. So about that much, right? Yep. Perfect, okay. Great. Okay, now the easiest thing, Rose,
is to do it in small pieces like either spoon it in or whatever but do it in smaller pieces to start
with. Here's my hand. I know. No, don't worry, they'll get dirtier. Got the water and the egg
in there. Now you need a tablespoon, I would say, but you've got 15 milliliters, one five,
of white vinegar. White vinegar, okay. So what you want to do, we're going to let it rest for
a little bit while we make the filling. Okay. What you want to do is split it in two.
The dough, because we're only going to use half of it. They're cute. They're cute. Yeah.
Our little pie doughs. I love them. How many strawberries are we talking about? All right, so
if for my pie, I do about three cups of rhubarb and three cups of strawberries,
which is 700 milliliters of each. Get it. So what you want to do is just you have, you rinsed it
already, you rinse it off, cut off both ends so you have the icky part gone. Right. And then we're
going to chop it in about a half inch size, like the width of your finger. Okay. Okay, perfect.
Oh yeah, the leaves are poisonous. Yeah, you never want the leaf of a rhubarb plant. It's
poisonous. The easiest way to get your dough into the pie dish is you fold your dough in half. Okay.
Take one of your longest pieces. Okay. And lay it across the middle of your pie. Okay.
Wow, that's beautiful. Pie is egg white and shiny. So now your last step is, and you can't see it,
but all right, here's my pie again, right? It's so beautiful. So now what you want to do is you
just want to sprinkle the top with a little bit of sugar. Oh, this is also satisfying. Probably
going to be an hour. An hour total. So tell me again, 200 for how long? 15 to 20 minutes. And
then 175 for the other 35 to 40. Right. Exactly. And it might even take longer. Watch your crust.
But at the same time, call me in an hour and a half because I want to see yours.
Okay. I will show you my pie. Thank you. This was so fun.
