If we weren't already living in Roma Norte and looking for somewhere to live in Mexico City, this would be it.
Colonia Juárez.
Of course, we're starting our day with coffee.
There are so many amazing coffee shops in Mexico City.
I'm in trouble finding one.
Today, we're starting our day off at one of our favorite bagels.
Let's go.
Our food just got here.
I got a Everything Bagel with vegan cream cheese.
Sergio got a Beyond Bagel.
On an Everything Bagel.
So freaking yummy.
These bagels are New York style.
The best bagels we found in Mexico City.
They're so good.
Oh, you're so fluffy and sweet.
In case you can't tell, Bagels Le Pou is a pretty special place to us because we actually started buying her bagels before this restaurant opened.
I would order bagels on WhatsApp to pick up the next day at her house and they have always been delicious.
So we've seen like the genesis of this restaurant happen.
We've really befriended the owner who you're going to meet in just a second.
I think what makes it really special is how much a perfectionist she is.
Like I said, we used to pick them up from her house.
So she literally started making these in her kitchen at home.
And now she is at this beautiful place at this iconic area, Juarez.
And it's been a hit.
It's been covered in different media and people are always here.
She runs out of bagels almost every single day, even though she makes as many as she possibly can.
Definitely, for a lot of reasons, Bagels Le Pou is a place you should go.
Hi, I'm Farrah.
I am the owner and the baker here at Bagels Le Pou.
Well, we started as really just bagels, but we're really like a New York, London deli bakery.
So we make bagels, cream cheeses, fillings and everything.
And we do bakes that are from the US and also from the UK.
So we are located in La Colonia Juarez.
We're actually just two blocks from Reforma 222 on Abre 52.
And we are open Tuesday through Friday 8 till 5 and on the weekends 9 till 6.
Our tummies are so full now, so happy.
We got some bagels to go for tomorrow to have at home.
Farrah is the sweetest.
We highly, highly recommend going there.
If you're visiting the Juarez area and honestly even going out of your way to go there.
I promise it's worth it.
We've had bagels from so many places in the US as well.
And they are just the freaking best.
So definitely go support her.
Although the neighborhoods of Polanco and Condesa get all of the credit for having all
the best boutique options and fashion options.
I honestly think that Juarez has even better boutiques that represent local Mexican designers.
Let's go check them out.
So one of the things that makes Juarez a really interesting and exciting neighborhood is that
it is still up and coming and with this building you can see how it's obviously super beautiful
but it's under repair.
It definitely needs a lot more repairing done.
It's behind barbed wire, but it's in the midst of these beautiful buildings that have already
been restored.
And yeah, I'm really excited to see what Juarez can become in the next 20 years.
Speaking of beautiful buildings that have been repaired, next to it is this amazingly
beautiful French mansion that has a bunch of different little boutiques and shops inside
of them.
So what's really, really cool about this mansion is that, I mean, obviously it used to be a
house and they've repurposed it into what it is now with all these stores.
Like even in the basement down here is a store and I don't know, it's just, it's really special.
It's really cool.
Yes, well, the brand is called Mesuel Manila.
We are a Mexican brand.
Everything is designed and manufactured here in Mexico City.
The concept of the store is that all the clothes are unisex.
It's basically clothes for everyone.
We use very wide cuts.
The idea is that the clothes are very comfortable too and that it's made to last.
The designer's name is Rosana Diaz.
She's also Mexican.
In fact, she's originally from Veracruz, but the brand has developed here in Mexico City
mainly.
Well, the street is called Abre.
This street, from time to time, became a kind of fashion district in Mexico City.
There are many brands around here.
Also the street of Marsella, which is another street that is on this side, has many Mexican
fashion brands.
If you're in Mexico City and you want pieces to make your house into a home with really
unique places, Utilitario Mexicano is a really good place to do that.
For example, little things like this.
I mean, there's nowhere else you're going to find such random little things like this.
So you just come in here with an open mind and see where things will fit and place into
your home and you'll have some really cool, unique places that scream Mexico City.
That was the store we've been wanting to check out for a while.
We bought some gin that I have been wanting to try for a long time as well from a local
gin, what do you call alcohol makers?
Distillery.
A local gin distillery.
So yeah, super cute gin, very excited to try it.
That store was super cute, very conceptual, very little Jesus vibe, Sergio said.
Although the streets in Juarez have European city names, we are in Plaza Washington.
The reason we're here is because of this coffee shop called Cicatriz, which actually is a
really cool place, very trendy, very popular.
And right beside it is another restaurant called Luz Blues, which is also a boutique,
which has really nice things.
So definitely something to check out if you're in Juarez.
In the same plaza as Cicatriz is Querencia, which is another shop that has things like
plants, other little knickknacks that are cute.
So one of the better places to go to in Mexico City, if that's what you're looking for.
Juarez is a neighborhood that for a lot of reasons I would say is the most diverse in
Mexico City.
For one thing, a lot of embassies are really near to Juarez.
So obviously that brings a lot of people from around the world.
It's also a huge business district for Mexico City.
Paseo de la Reforma is really close by.
So there are all the skyscrapers and all of the headquarters that are in that area.
Besides that, it is also considered to be the gay district of Mexico City.
And with it being one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, you also get a lot of variety
in the architecture and the types of people that come here.
It's socioeconomically diverse.
And also one way that it's different to a place like Roma or Condesa is that it's not
just like local coffee shops and local restaurants.
While it does have that, you can also find big commercial companies like Shake Shack,
McDonald's and all the Starbucks and all those types of businesses.
It's very diverse in that aspect as well.
So one really cool thing about Juarez, it's a good place to be if you are coming to visit
because it is positioned right in the center of all the touristy things like Chapultepec
and Roma, Condesa.
Downtown is really close by and it's also really easy to get around in public transportation.
So if you are coming to visit Mexico City, you should 100% consider Juarez as a place
to base yourself to get around the city much easier.
We have come to Cafe Min, which is an iconic place to have brunch on the weekends.
It's a stunningly beautiful building with amazing vibes and lots of options to choose
from for drinking, coffee or lunch type of sandwiches and soups.
So I got a Mezcal Tonic and Tana got an Aperol Smoothie.
My Aperol is very yummy.
We also ordered an Americano, which is so good and Sergio got a vegan little muffin,
which unfortunately seems to be the only vegan pastry that they have here, which I would
hardly consider a pastry, but they have much better looking non-vegan ones if you are not
vegan.
So Cafe Min is a place that you can come to if you want to experience that European laid
back cafe culture where you are just kind of sitting there for what is seemingly too
long.
You are just sitting there talking, having a drink.
It's a really comfortable place to sit and chill and talk and have a cup of coffee,
have a drink and just enjoy the general ambience of Juarez and the cafe.
And right now we're sitting on the patio, which is beautiful, but also inside it's actually
really, really pretty as well.
So definitely a very cute place to come and comfortably have a talk with your loved one
or some friends.
Completely different vibe.
You won't even believe me unless you know it, that we are in the same neighborhood.
We have literally walked like two blocks from where all of those boutiques were and it completely
changed.
There is this live music, there are bars, there's fast food restaurants, a lot of people
walking around.
Today is the Superbowl when we were filming this, so you can see like all of that.
But yeah, it's just a totally, totally different vibe.
Again, as I had mentioned previously, Juarez is a very diverse neighborhood.
So Juarez was actually one of the first neighborhoods that had electricity in the city.
So naturally it became the hotspot for nightlife and it still remains that way to this day.
This area feels completely different.
I don't really understand the vibe, so we're going to move on to the Korean slash Asian
area.
Is it specifically Korean?
There's Japanese stuff too, but it's like Korea.
Okay.
We're going to move on to the Asian area, which is often referred to as Little Seoul.
We have made it into the gay area of the neighborhood and this is where you can find lots of friends
who ride flags everywhere and gay bars.
So if that is what you were looking for, Dona Rosa is the place to go.
Lots of nightlife, lots of bars, good vibes.
We are specifically on the road, I think it's called Amberes and you can start to hear the
music.
It's Sunday today.
You wouldn't expect there to be that much ambience, but there definitely still is.
There are a few things that I enjoy more than shopping at Asian grocery stores and this
one is one of my favorites.
K-pop playing on the screen.
This one is called Aejeon and they have my favorite vegan ramen that I've been able to
find here.
Mochi.
Mochi is my favorite, but it's never ever vegan, sadly.
All of the soju, the BTS cold brew.
So much ramen.
And on this side as well.
We're at another Asian grocery store called Asian Market, aka OK Marked, and it's a little
bit bigger.
They have some other stuff.
So let's go ahead and check it out.
This ramen, I've been looking for everywhere because I watched Mr. Me Ashton on YouTube.
She's Korean and she suggests this ramen.
She says it's very good and it's vegan.
I didn't realize it's so big, it goes all the way back and they have produce.
No way.
Wow.
Have you ever seen a more generic looking Chinese restaurant than this?
It's called El Dragon.
The Dragon.
In case Asian supermarkets and restaurants weren't enough, there's even an Asian beauty
skincare store that we're going to go into and get some face masks because you know Asians
are known for their amazing skin.
Just behind us, there is Plaza del Angel, which is kind of like a high end antique market.
You can get like the really, really good stuff there.
It's really expensive, so we don't have anything from there.
But if that is your type of budget and you're looking for antique stuff for your home, definitely
check out Plaza del Angel.
One huge part of Juarez that we have completely neglected is how it is considered to be like
a business district.
Right behind us, there is a WeWork in case you are coming to Mexico City and you would
like a place to do remote work or like co-working, WeWork is right behind us.
It's huge.
And there's actually two here in Juarez, which shows how Juarez is such a place for people
to do business.
And yeah, I mean, this is just one example, obviously there are a bunch of offices all
over the neighborhood.
I know we've mentioned that in this area of Juarez, near like Marbella and Abre, that's
kind of starting to become sort of like a design boutique area.
And it definitely is.
But it's also a really good place to go find really cool and really good restaurants.
Some of the more iconic ones besides Bagel to the Pool is Café Nin, Masala y Maíz,
and Elena.
So those are ones that you'll see and you should check out because they are very, very
famous for how good they are.
And of course, those are just like the more famous ones here in this area of Juarez.
But Juarez all over has a lot of great places to check out.
We are on Reforma now, which is kind of the end of what divides Juarez from the next neighborhood.
So technically it is still a part of it, I guess.
We actually have an entire video about Reforma specifically already.
So we will put it on the screen here for you to go check out.
But yeah, this is where you can come see the Angel of Independence.
And it's just a little more like commercial high-end.
Yeah, Reforma is like full of high-end hotels and lots of headquarters for businesses.
So very corporate-like.
This is the road where you'll find the St. Regis, the Ritz-Carlton, Sofitel.
Just really nice hotels with great views of Reforma.
It's very, very pretty.
In conclusion, Juarez is a very special neighborhood in Central Mexico City that you should 100% check out.
We'll link in the description a playlist of all of the neighborhood tours that we've done in Mexico City.
And we would like for you to leave a comment of which neighborhood in Mexico City is your favorite.
With that being said, we are going to wrap up this video.
Bye!
Let's go inside.
