Oh and look, it gets even fancier.
Oh cool!
Look at the quality everything is.
It's not to sound snobby or anything.
A little gelato bar here.
I just want to say how out of place I feel right now.
Well that's crazy.
Yeah.
Wow.
Hey everybody!
Welcome to this video.
Today we are at a luxury mall.
Or it isn't necessarily what you might expect it to be.
Yeah.
This is the nicest mall that I've ever been to in my life.
And that seems to be the case with a lot of malls.
We chose this one to make this video in because it's the nicest mall here in Queretaro.
We want to just show you around to give you a feel a little bit of what it might be like
for you if you came to Queretaro, if you came to Antea on a Saturday afternoon, which is
what this is.
It's pretty nice.
So come with us.
So one thing that I have noticed about malls here compared to the U.S. is that people are
actually shopping here.
A lot of people are carrying around shopping bags and I guess if you're not paying attention
you probably wouldn't notice, but I've noticed at least that in the U.S. a lot of people
just go to the mall to hang out and they don't really buy anything.
In case you're wondering if there's any inconsistencies with our channel having a lot of minimalism
content and then doing this, we don't really come and shop that much, but there's a grocery
store that we might go to sometimes that we'll show you at some point in this video and it's
a good center point of a lot of different places in Queretaro, so don't call us out on that.
Another thing that we've noticed is that since malls in the U.S. are kind of dead, there's
a lot of people here.
There's a lot of people shopping and there's a lot of people like sitting down, just sitting around.
Honestly, this is what I remember malls feeling like in the U.S. when I was a child.
If you go to a mall now, it's very, very unlikely for it to be this popping and so much energy
and families and stuff.
Yes, very true.
So this mall has a lot of really cute sitting areas.
There's a lot of detail in the structure and the design of the mall.
So you can't go to a mall in Mexico without there being a Liverpool because Liverpool
is the department store of Mexico.
I would say it's on par with Macy's.
It's not the super high-end one, but it's also up there.
There's usually a security guard like this, pretty scary, with a huge machine gun, I guess
keeping us safe.
I loved this as a kid.
I always thought that the correct escalator etiquette was stand on the right and walk
on the left, but apparently everybody's supposed to stand for security reasons and escalators
weren't built for walking on.
And actually, if everybody stood, then everybody would move along way faster, especially for
really crowded escalators.
This is an outdoor mall, which is a pretty common theme.
Natural lighting is a very common theme in malls in Mexico, we've noticed.
So there's tons of plants, as you can see, everywhere in the middle.
And there's actually plants on the roof of all of these little shops that are set up.
This is the nicest Krispy Kreme that I've ever seen.
Used to be Sergio's guilty pleasure.
Not anymore.
Way over there you can see a department store called El Palacio de Hierro, which is the
other anchor store, or the second anchor store.
That's the higher end department store, that's where you find your high fashion stuff.
We don't spend a whole lot of time in there because, you know, what are we gonna do in
there?
But maybe we'll pop in for the purpose of this video and show you a little bit of what
they've got going on in there.
And just to get an idea of how big this mall is, it's three stories.
It goes all the way down there.
And then all the way that way.
Even past what you can see.
Yeah, and then it triangulates because there's a whole other section back there too.
It's kind of big.
So we're walking into the food court right now.
Do you know what kind of options are here?
Well, if you're vegan, you can get fries or a salad.
The food court is really pretty.
I don't think you can tell right here, but they have really nice furniture set up everywhere.
And there are some pretty high-end restaurants also that are located in the food court area,
like California Pizza Kitchen, P.F. Chang's.
Chili's.
Yeah, all the high-end stuff.
So over here, there's a Burger King, Sushi Place, Salads, Quiznos, Domino's, Subway,
Carl's Jr.
And Lara, I don't know how you pronounce that, but that's Michael Scott's favorite New York
style pizza.
Really?
Sergio told me to show these 18s because he said they're the nicest ones he's ever seen.
That actually does look kind of cool.
It looks like you're in a city.
But look at that view out there.
Oh, yeah.
Okay, anyways, this is where we're going now.
We took a little detour because we looked outside and saw a beautiful sunset.
Wow, look at the reflection on that building.
That's really cool.
It's so pretty.
Okay, that's a huge crate and barrel.
I know.
Hey, baby, you know what the most high-end thing here is?
Yeah.
Did I ruin it?
Yeah.
I don't see Balenciaga, I only see Finley and Burberry, so I'm going to get out of here.
I do have Aldo here, so shout out to Aldo.
Shout out, Aldo.
I just want to say how out of place I feel right now.
We really don't shop like ever anymore, so I'm not part of this world.
But I used to be, so it's kind of like nostalgic, but in a weird way.
It just reminds me of going shopping with my Nana when I was like buying my
food for Christmas and stuff like that.
Yeah, I don't want to talk about that too much, so let's get out of here.
This mall has...
It kind of feels like we're in a totally different mall right now just because it's so huge.
It just goes in every direction from here.
So what's next?
I think we are both ready to get out of here.
Yeah, I think we're gonna head to City Market, which is like the gourmet grocery store,
which is connected to the mall.
That's where we get a lot of our vegan groceries, so let's go.
Hey baby, what do we do on escalators?
We stand.
Good job, everybody.
So here is a Samsung like experience center.
I almost fell into this.
They have like virtual reality stuff going on.
I see that lady like moving around a little bit too much.
Well, that's crazy.
Oh, she's like on a roller coaster.
It's like a 4D virtual reality experience.
Cool.
Shopping in malls here in Mexico is definitely a lot more popular than in the U.S.
Because I think in the U.S., shopping online has totally dominated malls.
I guess a lot of malls are going out of business.
Because of like Amazon.
Amazon in Mexico isn't really that established yet.
There's not like a ton.
You can't just order anything.
I saw a statistic yesterday.
I don't know the exact number, but there's a really big number of the population in Mexico
that doesn't trust e-commerce yet.
So buying online with credit cards.
Right now, malls are like huge here.
Honestly, I don't think it's sustainable.
I don't know why they're building so many malls.
Because eventually, the same thing that happened in the U.S. is gonna happen here.
And I think it's just a ticking time bomb.
One thing that's especially cool about this mall for a lot of people, maybe not for us,
is that what I think is the nicest or like most exclusive nightclub in Querétaro
is actually in this mall.
It's way over there.
We're not going to show you that today because we would like nothing less than going to the club.
But this music right here is enough for us right now.
I've never been to a mall with a nightclub besides this one.
I didn't even know that that was a thing.
Or with a grocery store.
Isn't that kind of weird too?
I think so.
That's weird too.
Everything that's here is really nice and I think that's why it works.
Because it falls under the theme of like where it feels kind of luxurious anyway.
Like it's a grocery store but I mean it's not Walmart, you know what I'm saying?
And it's a nightclub but it's like, you know, pretty bougie.
We got movie tickets for Dumbo and if you haven't seen that video,
we will be showing it to you here.
And um...
That was our last video.
That was the last video we uploaded, yeah.
We just walked into H&M because we have a little bit of time to kill.
I kind of feel like we've just outgrown stores like this a lot.
That feels good, doesn't it?
To know that like it kind of feels like we're progressing a little bit.
Even though we both still have pieces from stores like this in our wardrobe.
Plug our minimalist wardrobe videos that we've made previously.
We come in here like every time we come to the mall and I never find anything.
And I'm noticing more and more now how like low quality everything is.
It's not to sound snobby or anything.
We're really trying to implement minimalism into our lives.
And to do that, you have to be really purposeful with everything you buy.
It seems a little bit silly to be purposeful with items that are just not the best quality possible.
I think it makes most sense to us to spend a little bit more money on less items
than to buy a whole lot of items that are cheap.
I think this is the nicest grocery store I've ever been to if I haven't said that already.
Like the video.
This is also the nicest grocery store you've ever seen because I feel like this is hard to beat.
We haven't even gotten to the really fancy part yet.
Yeah, hummus.
But we don't buy this anymore.
You want to tell them why?
We make our own hummus now.
So...
You're being modest.
You make your own hummus now and it's delicious.
So much freaking wine.
I honestly don't know anything about wine but it looks really fancy.
Oh and look, it gets even fancier.
Oh cool, there's like a little tobacco section in case you like tobacco.
And the wine behind this door which I don't know what that means either
but I assume it's more expensive back there.
Is there anything fancier than the Eiffel Tower?
City Market doesn't seem to think so.
Superfood section.
Let us know if you know what ceremonial grade is when we're referring to matcha
because this girl is way too like stuck up about her matcha.
I will take nothing less than the ceremonial grace.
Oh god.
It looks really nice but it's your very typical grocery items like some chips, snacks.
Half of the grocery store is like groceries, like aisles of groceries
and then the other half of the grocery store is like sushi bar, cafe, tortilleria, bakery.
It's really fancy over there.
For now, it's just Snickers and such.
And look, what we showed you before was just the wine section.
Here is the liquor section.
A little gelato bar here.
Gelato and some of them are vegan which...
Which one's the vegan one?
This one right here, this cacao one.
Looks amazing.
All right and here's a cafe.
Definitely, definitely the nicest cafe for a supermarket.
I mean, are you kidding me?
I'm kind of surprised how many people are just here chilling at the cafe in the supermarket.
This is the tapa bar.
This is where you get your tapas.
Alta Reposteria, so high bakery.
So that one was kind of like desserts, pastries type of things.
This is more baked goods, like more bread like things.
So it's a panaderia.
There's like the meat section but we're not going to talk about that.
They have a designated tortilla section.
There you have your tortilla chips, your tostadas,
your amazing tortillas staying warm down there.
This is a perk of Mexico.
Another perk of Mexico is fresh tortilla chips, like actual tortilla chips.
It's corn.
They'll sell these at Kroger and Walmart.
Okay, that is the end of this grocery store and it's the end of our video.
I hope you enjoyed it.
What do you think about this mall and this grocery store?
Do you think it's especially nice or are we just kind of like exaggerating?
What do you think?
I don't think we are.
It's just kind of hard to show.
The experience that you have when you're here, you know what I mean?
What defines luxury for me is the details of things and it's hard to show details.
Yeah.
And also I think the main point in making this type of videos for us is to show that
Mexico isn't necessarily what it's painted out to be, you know?
And you can have, you know, different types of experiences here.
By the way, speaking of details, I just noticed that
the background of each like department right here is different.
Like the wallpaper or it's not even just wallpaper.
That's how detailed it is.
Like right here is different here.
It's so cool.
It's the little details.
Then you pan up and you have like this gold tile.
The ceiling is beautiful.
And the floors are so nice and shiny.
And there's like, it changes.
It's a real full experience.
This is in your neighborhood grocery store.
And then here, here's the sushi bar with a little aquarium in the middle.
Super nice.
So anyway, if you like the video, please give it a like and subscribe to us if you haven't already.
And I guess we will see you in the next one.
Bye.
