MY REALLY REALLY LONG NAILS
Why the heck am I wearing these freaking long false nails?
So the last you saw of my nails, I was cutting off my beautiful long natural nails.
Yes, I had to say goodbye to them.
Go watch the video if you'd like to know why.
It was basically because of uni, but I explain everything in the video.
So I will leave a card right up here so you can watch that.
I'm basically going to be showing you these massively long false nails today
and letting you know why I decided to put them on.
I also just want to say thank you so, so much for all the wonderfully supportive comments
in my cutting off my nails video.
I honestly thought people were going to leave nasty comments on that video.
I don't know why.
I just thought they were.
But I got so many lovely comments.
Just really like thoughtful comments like,
oh, we'll miss your nails.
They still look beautiful, la la la.
So thank you so much.
It seems like such a silly thing, like cutting my nails.
Why is that?
Why does that matter?
But I was so surprised.
So thank you for your lovely kind words.
So, yes, I've got these massive long nails on.
It is the Christmas holidays.
I've had three weeks off before I go back to uni.
So I thought, why not put on some nails?
I mean, it's the festive season.
It's Christmas, New Year's.
So I have been wearing some very long ones.
A few people have been very confused because I've been posting pictures of myself
on my Instagram with these long false nails.
And people think that they're still my real nails, which is good.
I guess they look kind of real.
But yes, these are not real.
You can see my real nails underneath.
I know this is not the desired look when you are wearing fake nails.
You want to not be able to see your real nail,
but I just can't bring myself to cut them all the way down.
So yes, you can see my nails underneath.
But I did paint all of it red so that it wasn't so noticeable
because if I didn't paint it red,
you can see it a lot clearer because you can just see my nail.
So from far away, you kind of can't notice.
So that's a little trick.
If you can't bring yourself to cut your real nails underneath your false ones,
paint the undersides red and it does kind of disguise it a little bit.
Not completely, but from far away, it does the job.
And they kind of look like Christian Louboutin nails.
For Christmas, I had on these red ones,
which are the ones that a lot of you saw on my Instagram.
I painted these myself.
They came clear and I have painted them, put the glitter on all myself.
Oh, I also just want to say before I go into the details,
I usually am not really into putting fake nails on
because I think it's so, so damaging for your nails.
Like the glue.
This is my third set of fake nails, one after the other.
So bad.
After this, after these come off,
I am not putting any more fake nails on regardless of if I had uni or not
because they need to heal.
The last ones on that I had for Christmas,
the last time I took these off,
I didn't soak them for long enough and it kind of took off some of my real nail.
You should see what my nails look like underneath these.
They look awful.
I'm not too worried about it though
because I know that in my second term of uni,
they are going to be bare.
I'm just going to let them grow out.
My nails are pretty strong and healthy.
They grow pretty quick.
So I'm not like, it's not the end of the world.
I know they'll just grow out.
I know that's not the best for someone who's, you know,
into natural nails,
but you know, sometimes these things just happen.
In all the drugstores, all the shops on the high street,
I could not find any nails this long
and people just don't seem to sell them.
The longest ones I could find in Primark or Superdrug
were just not long enough.
So I turned to the internet, went on eBay
and I found these super long ones.
They're also really hard to find
because you can find like long nail tips
for when you put acrylics over them,
but it's really hard to find long stick-on ones.
These were the longest I could find.
I will leave a link in the description
if you'd like to purchase any of these.
I'm not being sponsored, obviously.
I just found these on eBay
and you just get a load of different,
obviously different sizes.
You match them up to your nail.
I did file down the corners of some of them
to help them fit better.
They're actually a little bit longer
than my natural nails were
and they're squared.
They were kind of difficult to get used to at first,
but because I've had long natural nails
for like three years,
I kind of got used to it pretty quick
because I'm just used to holding things,
opening things,
using my hands in a way that would protect my nails,
I guess you could say.
I did not use the glue they came with.
I used the Primark glue from the Primark fake nails,
which is surprisingly really, really good.
The Primark fake nails are usually like a quid,
like one pound,
which is so, so cheap,
but the glue is really good.
A friend of mine was like,
oh yeah, I put some fake nails on
and it like lasted for a whole festival
and so I was like, oh cool.
I'm gonna go buy some Primark nails
and yes, they have lasted a very long time,
but I did do a few little nail hacks
to keep them on longer,
like scoring the underside of the fake nail
before putting it on really helps
or has seemed to help for me.
They literally have not come off.
The Primark ones that I was wearing,
one popped off on my little finger after like a week
and that was it before I took them off.
The red ones I had on,
none of them popped off at all
for about, how long did I have those on?
Maybe like a week and a half, two weeks
and then these I've had on since New Year's Eve,
half a week.
The easiest thing to do with these
is to paint them before you put them on,
let them dry overnight
and then put them on the next morning
and then obviously I didn't have to like go around
like waiting for them to dry.
This is what they look like.
They do kind of look quite real.
Like, I mean, my cuticle's kind of growing out a little bit,
but I mean, I fit them pretty well.
You can't really see my natural nail obviously
unless I turn them over.
I really like these fake nails.
I just used this strange sort of holographic,
I did two coats of this
and then I put a coat,
two coats of this Adesi New York Glitter Nail Polish in Carnival.
I usually would never put like four coats of nail polish
on my natural nails,
but because these are fake,
because I wouldn't have to take it off,
I would just take the nails off,
I went ahead and put a load of glitter on there.
The red that I use underneath is this Revlon Cherries in the Snow.
This, ladies and gentlemen,
is the best nail polish I have ever tried so far in my life.
I think I have found like the best nail polish.
Like I honestly, this is so good.
I don't know how much it is
because it came with like a pedicure set,
but I think it's pretty expensive because it's Revlon,
but I will probably be buying this brand again,
even though it's probably quite a lot of money.
This is the colour that I painted the red nails for Christmas.
You would not believe how smoothly this applied
and how quickly it dried.
One coat, one coat.
Look how opaque it is.
You don't even need a second coat with this.
One coat and it looks like your nails are just perfect.
I don't know.
I'm definitely going to buy more of these Revlon.
I have a feeling they're going to be like 15 quid a bottle
or something like that,
but maybe once in a while I'll treat myself.
Obviously, it's just a bit of fun.
It's not something I would do all the time
because my nails are wrecked underneath.
I'm not really sure if the right way to take off fake nails,
but I think you're meant to just sort of soak them in hot water
or just use like nail polish remover to like,
I don't know.
I don't actually know how you meant to take them off,
but I sort of, I soak them and then I slowly,
I basically get my nail underneath one of the corners
and I just sort of rock back and forward
until it sort of loosens, but I don't like rip it.
I don't force it.
I just go in at the sides
and like sort of rock back and forth.
Either way, it is going to wreck your nails.
The glue is going to take up layers of your nail.
It's not pretty.
It's not nice.
So yeah, after these, I'm going to have to let them rest.
A few of you actually said that I should start doing
like a nail journey of like growing them back.
So I think after I've taken these off
and started uni again,
I'm going to do like a time-lapse maybe
or something like that of them growing
or what I'm doing to get them healthy again.
Although really, I just do what I do all the time,
which is basically what you see in my nail care routines.
I will put my nail care routine right up here
if you want to see it from when I had long nails,
but that's basically still the same thing I would do
regardless of if I had long nails or not.
My next holiday is in April.
I don't really know if I'm going to put long nails on again.
I will be taking my driving lessons
and my driving test in April.
So I don't really want them to hinder me too much.
So I might have to not wear these again for a while.
So this might be the last time you see these long nails.
So that is it.
I hope you've enjoyed this video
and maybe learned a little bit more about fake nails.
Not that there's much to learn about them,
but you know, you might have been interested
in why I chose to put these on
and where I got them, la-dee-da.
Thank you so, so much for watching, guys.
Happy New Year.
I hope you're going to have a great 2017
and I will see you soon in my next video.
Bye!
