Hi everyone, it's Michelle from Bella Ranch DIY and welcome back to my channel.
I have a super cute Halloween DIY and you are going to love it. So you ready? Let's go.
Our first DIY is a colorful spider pumpkin. We're going to start this spooky Halloween
project by painting a bunch of little black spiders. So put the five colors that you would
like to paint these spiders onto a palette paper and the palette paper that I love it's like a
book of almost like wax paper so you could always use wax paper. So I put the spiders on top of some
parchment paper so it wouldn't get on my table and I just started painting each one of the spiders.
In between each color I would clean the brush and if you just dab it and squish it out on a napkin
it gets all the paint out so you can just go to the next color. So I just put this all on one
piece of parchment paper like I said because it make it made it easier to paint them instead of
just sporadically putting them in one spot. And it already looks kind of cool because of the rainbow
effect that's on there. And we're going to let that dry and we're going to put two to three coats. I
did two coats and I think that was perfect. I did have a couple touch-ups on a few. Then I'm going
to take a white pumpkin and I'm going to add some white paint on it. And you're wondering why are
adding white paint on a white pumpkin when it's already white? It's because I wanted to have more
texture. You could spray paint it if you want but I'm all about using what I already have and not
have to go buy some new spray paint. Then I took the stem and I painted it gold. You could use some
gold leafing if you wanted to if you have that around. And what I did also was I made the shape
of the way a stem would look so it has like little scalloped edges that are kind of random on the
gold. So start by putting a little dab of glue. You don't need a lot because you only need one
little part of the spider to adhere to your pumpkin. And just put them in all different directions
and in different spots on your pumpkin. And it's a super cute project and it's a great project that
you do with your kids too. So keep adding glue and keep adding your spiders and just keep going
until you have used all the little spiders that you have. This would also look cute on a black
pumpkin or a pink pumpkin. Next I took some Mod Podge and it was a shiny clear coat which dries
super fast. And look how cute this turned out and look how great it looks in my front entrance of my
house. Next project is a boho skull. We're going to start this project with five skulls from the
dollar store. Take your sharpie and make a circle at the top of the skull and then we're going to
get some kind of a knife. I'm using an X-Acto knife but it's one that you use to carve wood.
So you want something that's strong to be super careful when you're doing this. And I noticed it
worked really well when I turned it to the side and kind of used it as a saw. And you're going to
take that out and we're going to do that to all of the skulls. Then we're going to take an assortment
of colors and you saw that I had the colors in kind of a pink rainbow starting with a cream color
first. Now we're going to paint each skull in a different color of the palette that you chose
and we're going to need two coats for this. And I started with my first color and then I just
continued on with the palette that I chose. And what I did in between each coat is I took the
skull and I put it outside and it dried really quickly that way. And it really only took two
coats. You don't need three coats. And this project is a really cool project because if you're somebody
who wants to decorate for Halloween but you're not into like all the spooky stuff, this is your
project. Next we're going to seal the skulls and I used a Mod Podge sealer which was a matte finish.
You can use a shiny finish if you want. And you're going to spray a thin coat of the sealer on each
skull. And the reason I like using this Mod Podge version is because it dries super quick. This
Halloween DIY decor project is already turning out so cute and I love the palette choice that I used.
Now we're going to take some faux flowers or some different pieces that you find and we're going to
add those in the top of the skull. And we're going to keep doing this until you get the little bouquet
that you like. And I like how it kind of hangs over and it's very eclectic and very boho.
So in order to make your floral arrangement more stable in the hole that you've created,
you're going to have to use something to stabilize it. So what I did was I took a paper bag and I
crumpled up a little piece and I put it in the back of the hole to kind of make a wedge to hold
it more secure. Now you could just make the hole smaller but I just made it a little bigger because
I wanted to make my arrangement more full on the top of the skull. I have to say this turned out
super cute and I think it's a great alternative if you don't want spooky Halloween decorations.
And remember this is about your designs. So if you have a different palette in your house,
like blues, it would look fantastic. And if you're somebody who does not like to decorate
for Halloween because you're not into all the spooky stuff, this DIY was definitely for you.
And really you could just make one as opposed to just five of the skulls to put as a centerpiece
for your table. Next DIY is an abstract painted pumpkin. This is one of the easiest projects today.
You're going to take some colors and put them on a palette paper and we are going to make an
abstract painting on a pumpkin. And this is not a real pumpkin, it's a fake pumpkin.
We're using some acrylic paint and we're going to start with some different colors
and we're going to just start layering the colors. Just go for it. Just pick all the colors,
layer on top. They're going to mix together and if you don't like it you can cover it up with
another color. And white is your friend on here because you can just blend the white in there
to make a whole different color. See how I'm making this lighter pink at the bottom?
It looks really cool. And just keep going all the way around and you'll see right here I added a lot
more white on here and then I added more color on top with the orange and the blue. And then I
kept grabbing paint and layering more and more. And the key here is also don't use water with this.
You really just want to use the actual acrylic paint otherwise it'll kind of drip. I wanted a
little more texture so I grabbed some white and I made some little teardrops over that little blue
section. And then I added some gold paint. Next I took the stem, painted it white, and then put
gold on top. I also made a little tiny pumpkin to match. I mean what a cute addition for Halloween.
It looks like an abstract painting. I love this one. I think that one was my favorite. I hope you
guys love today's Halloween decor DIYs. I think this is such a great alternative for everybody
who doesn't want to decorate for Halloween with their traditional scary stuff. This is totally
boho chic and I think it would go well with anybody's home decor. So I want to know what
you guys think. Be sure to comment, let me know, and until next time, happy DIYing!
