Hi guys today, I'm going to do a double flip cup and my theme today is summer because today is summer
It's going to be hot here today. I'm I'm doing this painting in the morning
I want to do this before it gets warm. I have an open-air workshop studio
It's not air-conditioned, and I noticed there is an effect on the paint when the temperature is high
So let me show you what I'm going to do
I have my normal 12 by 12 canvas here, and I'm going to create two separate dirty pours
When the weather's warm, I usually add a few drops more of water to thin it down
I notice in warm weather it'll thicken up quick
It'll develop a skin over the paint more quickly. I
Keep it covered with plastic until I'm ready to use it
So I just uncovered these and I'm going to create a pour of different blues first
And if you want to know what colors I'm using I have them in the description below. I'm using some different paint brands today
So I have three different blues
And
This set of blues is going to get some white in it. I
Have I put a few drops of silicone in each color?
But I don't put silicone in the white. It's just my method of working
The white tends to sink to the bottom
with a pour
But it still has an effect okay, there's the blue. This is a 10 ounce cup
I just did it about halfway because I'm going to do
Two of these so I don't need to fill it up. This will be plenty of paint for half half the canvas
Okay now I'm going to create my second dirty pour I have a gold here. I'm thinking of
water and earth
Ground and sky something like that. I like the combination of warm and cool
This is a nice
chocolate brown
And
With this one. I'm going to add a little bit of black
I'm going to get too carried away with the black. Let me see do I have enough now, okay? There's
That should be enough
So now I'm going to set this canvas off to the side just for a second
wipe
Splashes off I have a piece of cardboard that I'm sitting on my yogurt cups here
And I'm going to set
The two pours right here, and this is how you do a flip if you haven't seen this before
You can do it with one cup, but I'm gonna
Do this with two today
Put my hand up here
And the reason I have the cardboard lifted off the table is so I can get my hand underneath easily. I'm gonna flip it
Don't need cardboard anymore
Make sure my canvas is sitting there don't need to wait a long time now here we go
You
Spread this is a version of my
double dirty landscape pour which I've done a couple of videos of it's keeping these
colors separated and it kind of creates a
Horizon line which is why I call it a landscape
tilt this around see it's
What I'm doing is I want to reach the edges with it, but don't want to lose too much
I like this black right here, so
I'm gonna let it tilt, but try not to lose it
See tilt to get the edge and then go back
Get it. I'm gonna keep turning this so you can see it
Now the only thing left I have to do is to reach this corner. It's not covered
Let's see my paints already starting to get a little sluggish because it's warm
So you got to keep your temperatures in mind. There's so many variables
climate humidity temperatures
Okay, so I got coverage now. I just want to look at my horizon line and see what I want to do
to make it interesting
I'm gonna. I want this black to come back, so I'm gonna
Tilt until I see something
Interesting as far as the this landscape line
So there's some there's some interesting things going on here on both notes a lot of times
When you do two separate colors one will become more interesting than the other I like both here
I like these browns and golds, and I like the blue very interesting
This is kind of neat the way it's this brown set has come over here
So I'm gonna I'm gonna kind of let
Let these be equal partners here in this I don't see any reason to
Let one run off more than the other. I like what's happening. This has a watery look
This has an earthy look
There's silicone in here, I'm not going to use the torch today, I
only do it if there's
Not enough cell action, but if it's if it's if I'm getting cell action on its own without the torch
Then I don't use the torch
So I've got a nice variety here
So there's my summer painting and again
If you have hot temperatures just just keep in mind that you might need to add a little bit more water to your paint
Stir it right before you use it because if it's sitting there very long. It'll develop a skin over it
So there's my painting, and I will show the dried version on Instagram
And I hope this helps you with some ideas happy summer and happy pouring and have fun. We'll see you next time
