Tornado Ghost Towns. (And why some are not) Worst Tornadoes in History.

Ghost Towns because of historically significant Tornadoes: Manchester, South Dakota Parrish, Illinois and Melva, MO. A Tornado History documentary, about three towns that no longer exist because of powerful tornadoes. Also featured, the CRAZY coincidence of Codell, Kansas and May 20th. As well as Joplin, Missouri's bounce back from one of the worst tornadoes in history.

Correction: Grace Ingalls-Wilder was incorrect, it's Grace Ingalls-Dow

Covered here are the Tri-State tornado / 1925 Tornado. That destroyed Parrish, IL
The Melva, Missouri (Ghost Town) Tornado that a short lived town never recovered from.
The Manchester South Dakota F4 Tornado that Tim Samaras and Reed Timmer both documented in 2003. Manchester became a ghost town.
The incredible coincidence of the "Cyclone Day" Tornadoes of May 20, 1916, May 20, 1917, and May 20, 1918 That hit Codell Kansas.
The Joplin Tornado of 2011, an EF5 monster that may very well prove to be the worst or one of the worst tornadoes of the 21st century by $$ and human toll. Joplin's scars continue to heal.

Tornadoes have turned several American towns into "Ghost Towns" due to several reasons, some because of the sheer power and size of the tornado, and others due to poor economic performance. What does it take to make a "Tornado Ghost Town" versus why towns and cities survive in spite of some of the worst tornadoes in history?
