I Moved to New York! 🚕 | Empty NYC Apartment Tour

Hi, I'm K Troi. Welcome back to my channel and obviously from the title of this video, I have moved to New York and I'm currently in my new apartment. It has been just about a week since I moved into this new apartment with my husband and I have documented this past week and wanted to share it with you. Exactly a week ago from today, we drove 10 hours from Ann Arbor, Michigan to New York. I've been in Ann Arbor for the past three years and my husband has been in New York and we've been long distance for like half of our relationship and now we're finally together in the same city and in our new apartment. In this vlog, you'll see an empty apartment tour but I'll definitely be filming an official apartment tour in the future once we've settled in and decorated properly and all of that. So let's go back about six days to when we got the keys to our apartment and moved in. Look at those ceilings. Welcome to our new apartment. Dang, my husband is actually back at his old apartment because he still has the lease for a few weeks. He's taking a little nap because he did all of the driving yesterday. It was a 10-hour drive. He drove the whole way. We woke up again early this morning to get all of our stuff moved in and had a couple of friends help so thank you Rebecca and Sharon for helping us. We've just got a lot of stuff here so I am working on putting some stuff away. I've got some laundry going with our bed sheets and I am getting the dishwasher loaded with our new plates and stuff. I just want to give them all a good wash. I'm still in the process of loading this up so I just want to load this and that so that that can be going while I'm cleaning. I'm obviously going to do like an official apartment tour but I'll very quickly give you a tour right now as it is just so you can see and see the progress. This is the front door and as soon as you walk in you have the kitchen here on your left. There's a nice window which I love because some kitchens in New York are just closed off and dark so I love that there's a window there. You've got the fridge, the stove, lots of storage up above, the sink here, the dishwasher which I just showed you. On this side is a closet. I won't open it because I've got some stuff in the way like my scooter. If we keep walking, this counter is like an island that you could sit at as well if you get some stools. Turning to the right now, got the in-unit washer dryer which was one of my main requirements for our apartment and then we've got the bathroom, pretty standard bathroom. I've noticed that so many New York bathrooms don't have a lot of counter space but I guess the sink is quite large and there is storage in this little medicine cabinet here. We've got the shower and bathtub. Now stepping out of the bathroom, here is the living room and the best part about this apartment I think are these really tall ceilings with Florida ceiling windows. So much light and all of the stuff here and then going this way into the bedroom. We don't have our bed frame yet but our mattress got delivered so that's just on the floor and then we've got a closet here with quite a lot of closet space kind of goes back there and then there's the other half. So I'm going to just continue cleaning and organizing. I also bought a bunch of cleaning supplies so that once things are a bit more out of the way I can clean the floors and the surfaces and all of that so I will check in with you probably later tonight and see how much I've gotten done. Hello it is Wednesday and I did not check in yesterday with you because I was just super exhausted. I have been making some more progress today. It might not look like it because the apartment is still a mess but some progress definitely has been made. I actually went grocery shopping today so got a few things for the fridge and the pantry priorities and put away some dishes and stuff. Now I do want to get some shelf organizers so all of that will have to be later but for now at least things are starting to be placed throughout the apartment. We also bought these chairs that we found on Facebook Marketplace. It was $2 for 50 and they're these swiveling bar stools or counter stools so perfect for you know eating a meal or eating breakfast here. It is now Thursday and sometime in the afternoon. It's very very dreary today as you can see but I am going to start getting some dinner ready and I'm gonna actually use my new pots and pans that I got. I posted about these on Instagram but these are Carraway. This is a Carraway Dutch oven and then that's a fry pan. I'm just melting some butter here because I'm going to make some potatoes in the Dutch oven. I found a super easy recipe so I'll link that in the description box and then in the fry pan I'm gonna make some stovetop chicken thighs. I don't cook meat very often so I'm not 100% confident in this dish but I think they're done. I did cut it open a little bit at like the thickest part of this chicken thigh and it looked like the juices are clear and it's a little bit pink but chicken thigh is supposed to be slightly pink and that's okay. And then here we've got the potatoes going. I turned up the heat a little bit so I can try to get like a little bit of a sear or roast I don't know what you would call it on them but they're pretty much done. And this is my first time cooking with this because I got it before I moved and then I wanted to save it for once I got to the new place and I am loving them. I'm trying to see the handles of the Dutch oven do get a little hot but the lid is fine too and this lid also fits onto this pan which is super cool so it's multi-purpose there. I am actually back to work today and then off again next week so I can continue settling in but I've not really set up my desk yet as you can see I'm sitting on one of the bar stools and then my computer is resting on top of my printer because this is too high for the table so hopefully this will work for today and then I can get it set up before I go back to work at the end of next week.
