Hello YouTube fam! Welcome or welcome back to my channel. If you're new here, my name is Tina and
I make videos on lifestyle, home, and DIY projects every single week. If you're watching this video
as it goes live, I just want to say happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. And for today's
video, we're doing some boho-inspired DIY decor from the dollar store. I love making these videos
because I can show you guys how to make affordable decor, especially for the spring and summertime.
These projects are all super simple and I think that they came out so
cute, so I hope that you guys like them. And before we jump in, don't forget to like and
subscribe to this channel. We are getting super close to 100,000 subscribers. We might actually
hit it as this video goes live, so I'm just so grateful for your support. And of course, I want
to celebrate and give back to you guys, so make sure that you tune into Thursday's video because
I have something special planned. And without further ado, let's jump into the first project.
Hello from voiceover Tina. Starting off our first DIY, I'm using a planter pot from the
dollar store and I'm actually just going to remove the tray on the bottom and just work
with the pot for now. We're also going to use these half dot stickers from Dollar Tree and
these actually come on a strip and I don't want the strip part to show in the pot, so the first
thing I'm doing is just going to remove all the dots from the sticky part. Now using some super
glue ulcer from Dollar Tree, I'm going to glue these on in a polka dot pattern to start. So to
do this, I'm creating vertical rows of three and then a vertical row of two and I'm going to
alternate this pattern all the way around the pot. And these totally don't need to be perfectly
spaced. You can totally just eyeball it like I am here. And at first I tried using tweezers to place
them, but honestly it was trickier to do that, so I found that pressing it with my fingers did just
the trick. Just be careful and don't get glue onto your hands. This process can get pretty
repetitive, so feel free to put on your favorite show. While I was working on this project, I was
actually watching New Girl and I started the show again and it honestly has to be one of my favorite
shows ever. They are having a 10-year reunion this year, which is so crazy to me because I started
watching the show in college and I love it just as much now as I did when I first started the show
10 years ago. And I also want to thank you guys for sending me your TV recommendations in my last
DIY video. I love hearing what you guys are into and I'm totally going to check out some of those
recommendations. Okay, now that our pot is covered, I'm actually going to go ahead and fill in some of
those gaps and we're going to create a diamond design. So I'm adding in two more dots in between
two of the dots diagonal to each other and this is going to serve as a great guide to create
straight lines for our diamond shape. I'm repeating this around the whole pot and there are three
diamonds in total. Now I'm using a terracotta spray paint and this is one of my favorites. I'm
just going to give this two even coats and as you're doing this, you definitely want to flip
it over in between the coats just to ensure that you're getting every single angle, especially
since there are 3D elements from the dots, it's a little bit trickier to cover.
And also with the tray from earlier, I'm going to give this a couple of coats of white spray paint.
Alright, so now that our pot is dry, I'm just going to use a white acrylic paint and I'm painting our
dots white. Doing this is really going to emphasize the design that we created earlier and I did about
two coats of this to get complete coverage. I really love the finish of the terracotta spray
paint so we're going to go ahead and give this two coats of this clear matte spray paint for
extra protection. And the last thing we need to do is just pop on that bottom tray and our new
planter is ready to go. Spring and summer are the perfect time to add to your planter collection.
I absolutely love how we transformed this plain pot into an elevated design pot and the bold
contrast between the white and the terracotta color really stand out and with this technique,
you can create any design that you would like and it only costs us a couple of bucks to do.
For our next DIY, I'm using one of these wire wreaths from Dollar Tree and the first thing I'm
doing is just cutting it so that we only have one third section of it. And originally, I wanted to
use one of the larger wreaths at Dollar Tree for this wall hanging but they didn't have them in
stock. I still wanted to show you guys this project in a smaller scale but I think both
versions would look great. And also please be cautious and wear goggles especially when you're
cutting wires. All the small pieces of metal are going to fly everywhere so I made sure that my
eyes were protected at this step. Then I went ahead and took some sandpaper to smooth out the
edges as best as I could. So this part is optional but I wanted it to arch more so I bent it inwards
but I will warn you guys not to bend it too much otherwise it might snap. So now I'm taking it
outside and I'm going to use this gorgeous spray paint in metallic champagne bronze and I'm going
to give this two coats and I will make the disclaimer that I use spray paint for all three
of these projects but that's because I got in new colors and I really wanted to try them out and I
think this one is actually the perfect brass color. After that's all dried, I took some chunky knit
yarn and I'm going to cut off three pieces of it. Then I'm going to split each one in half so that
we have two strands on each piece and from there I'm creating a cow hitch knot along the bottom
of this arch. So I'm going to go ahead and feed it through the front and then pull the ends through
the loop to create our knot. So I'm doing three knots on each side of the arch and I'm also going
to go ahead and just split the strands apart and you'll notice that the yarn is wavy and I think
this looks super cute. After they're all on there, they're going to look a bit like a rainbow and I'm
going to go ahead and just cut off the ends so that they are more even but I didn't want them
to be perfectly straight across for a bit of an organic look. And lastly, I created a loop on the
with some twine and our wall hanging is done. This wall hanging is so boho and modern at the
same time. I think the softness of the yarn looks so beautiful against that prassy metal finish.
This piece would look so amazing in a gallery wall or super cute in a kid's bedroom and best
of all, it only took us a couple of steps to create such a beautiful DIY piece.
For this last project, I'm using this little round vase from Dollar Tree and they usually
come in a clear glass but I actually spray painted it previously for another DIY. I thought
it was time to level it up so the first thing I'm doing is adding some grip to the surface with
sandpaper. Then I'm taking these marbles also from Dollar Tree and I'm gonna sort through them so that
all the marbles are about the same shape and are round. These all vary in shape and size but I
noticed some of them were a bit larger and oval in shape so the more uniform they are, the better
but most of these are probably not going to be perfectly round. For this design, I'm creating a
vertical line pattern with the marbles so I'm going to go ahead and just glue them in a straight
up and down line with some Gorilla Hot Glue. About five marbles fit on each one of these rows and I'm
going to make sure that I hold it down and press it in place before moving on to the next one.
For the next row, I'm going to leave a bit of space in between each one and I'm really just
eyeballing it and using my finger as a spacer and I'm going to repeat this process around the entire
vase. Bubble planters and vases are super trendy right now so this is a fun and easy way to get
the look without breaking the bank. And as you're doing this, try and get rid of those little glue
gun webs as best as you can and if you find that you have a lot of them, you can also use a hairdryer
to melt them all away. Alright so now that all of our little bubbles are in this vase, I'm using
Peony Pink by Rust-Oleum for the slightest touch of pink to this vase. This is a glass finish which
is perfect for this project and I had to give it multiple coats to ensure that it was even all the
way through and for this one, you definitely want to flip it multiple times just so that you can get
all the different angles and crevices so that it is evenly covered. And lastly, I'm using a glossy
clear top coat to protect our color and that's all there is to this project. You guys, I'm loving this
bubble trend and how this vase turned out. You can totally try this project on any size and shape
vase that you want and you can also customize the colors to your own personal style. I think this
adds such a fun whimsical boho touch to any floral arrangement or you can also use it as a planter.
So those are all the projects from today's video. I hope that you guys liked them all and if you had
a favorite, let me know in the comments down below. I think the planter definitely has to be my
favorite. I'm on such a plant kick right now. I can't stop buying them and I probably won't stop
buying them but I would love to hear your thoughts down below. If you recreate any of the projects
from today's video, make sure they tag me on Instagram and also give me a follow because I
post on there every single day. And of course, I want to share some of your recreations on the
