The legendary Michael Jordan is one of the most recognized and well-known athletes in the world
and one of the wealthiest. His net worth is expected to be around 1.9 billion dollars.
From endorsements and a stake in the Charlotte Hornets NBA franchise, he also owns several
pricey possessions including a golf course, a yacht, and a private jet. Pretty usual for a
MJ isn't your typical billionaire. He owns some truly bizarre and costly possessions that most
people could never hope to amass. These are the most ridiculous and foolishly expensive things
Michael Jordan has ever owned. Hey there, internet! Welcome to A Billion Luxuries.
This show will talk about all things luxury. We'll talk about the latest and greatest in fashion,
beauty, travel, lifestyle, and more. Whether you enjoy all things luxurious or want to live a bit
more extravagantly, don't miss out on all the exciting news from A Billion Luxuries.
Now let's get started! Cigarette addiction
What if I told you that Jordan had a ridiculously expensive addiction? He is spending tens of
thousands if not hundreds of thousands on it. Jordan is a cigarette enthusiast to an unhealthy
degree. In 2017, a Cigar Connoisseur interview with Jordan stated that smoking cigars had become
a custom before games by 1993. Jordan also revealed that his favorite cigar is a brand called Paris
Lucio, which costs between $14 and $24 each. If we suppose he's been smoking six of them every day
since retiring from the NBA, then Michael Jordan will spend between $550,000 and $940,000 on his
habit alone. That isn't all though because no ordinary cigar would tempt Jordan. He also has
his humidor, a specific area or cabinet where cigars are kept at a humidity level of 70%.
A decent quality humidor costs between $250 and $2,000 on average. However, Michael Jordan isn't
the type to settle for second best. If you thought that was not good, wait until you hear about
Jordan's other expensive hobby. Car collecting
Car collection Jordan has one of the rarest if not the most
valuable collections of vehicles in NBA history. In 1984, when Jordan started with NASA in the
United States, he bought his first sports car, a 1984 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.
After taking this thing for a spin, Jordan developed a need for speed. After this, he went
on a car buying binge. Among the gems he unearthed were three new Porsches and five Ferraris.
However, there is another treasure that Jordan values above all. He also owns a one-of-a-kind
2010 Bugatti Veyron Saint-Noir, which is worth more than all of his other cars combined. With
1,000 horsepower and 922 pound-feet of torque, this auto has a top speed of 252 miles per hour
and is highly unusual. I mean there are only 12 Saint-Noirs in the world. As a result, it's worth
around 2.2 million dollars. Nonetheless, let's be honest, 5 million dollars is a drop in the bucket
compared to Jordan's billions. Thus, let's look at the next item on the list, a golf course. MJ's is
so precious that even the poor aren't permitted to use it. In 2019, Jordan decided to build his
country club so that he could play with more prominent people. His passion for luxury led him
to acquire 226 acres in Florida and establish the most costly country club in the United States.
The Grove 13, also known as Slaughterhouse 13 from the bottom up, a 15,000 square foot clubhouse
with dining areas, lounges, and even a drone delivery service that delivers visitors beverages
right to them, is also available. They even have their cigar rollers at this golf course.
But that's not all. The course itself is beautiful and Jordan spared no expense in ensuring that.
The total cost of the golf course was 250 million dollars. Now, this seems like MJ spends lavishly
on himself. However, in the next item, he also invests in the community in the form of
medical clinics. Jordan was thinking of ways to contribute to his birthplace of Charlotte, North
Carolina in 2019. Since so many families were experiencing difficulties obtaining hospital
attention, he established two medical clinics. Low-income patients are the primary focus of
these clinics which include x-ray machines and physical therapy facilities. As of 2021, Jordan
had already spent 3.5 million dollars on constructing two medical buildings in Charlotte.
He subsequently announced that he would invest an additional 10 million dollars in establishing
two more. Two of these clinics were located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jordan has put at least
17 million dollars into these medical facilities. He's out on the road putting up racks in hospitals
which is wonderful. It's fantastic but keep in mind that his purchases will only increase from
here on out. Jordan's achievement with the next pick triggered a shift in sports history.
NASCAR Another one of Jordan's childhood
passions was watching NASCAR. Denny Hamlin was instrumental in Jordan's decision to form his own
NASCAR team, 23-11 Racing in 2020. With the support of the racing veteran, Baba Wallace was
then chosen to drive the number 23 car in the most significant acquisition in NASCAR history.
This is a big deal because Baba Wallace is the only full-time African-American driver in NASCAR.
With Jordan's support, he has a chance to achieve even greater things. So far, the team's best
result was a second-place finish at the 2021 Daytona 500. While Jordan's investment in NASCAR
is commendable, there's no denying that this is a costly pastime. To field a competitive team,
you must spend millions of dollars annually. But for Jordan, money is no object.
Personal Private Jet Although he had a lot on his plate and a significant amount of money at stake,
Jordan decided to spend more on a bespoke Gulfstream 550. There is room for up to 16
people with each of the three bedrooms having a private bathroom. It also has its internet service
provider in addition to its two restrooms. A few years after purchasing his G550, Jordan added an
elephant print paint job on it for an additional cost of more than $350,000. This brought the total
cost of the aircraft up to $61,850,000. Mansions This next purchase is still considered one of the
worst NBA investments in history. When Michael Jordan won the NBA Championship in 1991,
he wanted to build a mansion for himself outside of Chicago with his earnings.
Nobody has ever made a temple like this solely for Jordan before. It was also called the Taj
Mahal of Basketball Project. It cost about $29 million and had a standard-sized indoor basketball
court, a 9-foot replica of the Statue of Liberty, and six fireplaces. It could accommodate 23
automobiles in the garage. The guy who created it painted the Air Jordan logo on an NBA-sized
basketball court. Jordan himself spent approximately $29 million on this Chicago
home's additions. There you have it, the most insanely expensive things Michael Jordan owns.
From his charitable donations to his iconic legacy, Jordan has spent his money in a way that
befits his status as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. That's all for today. What do
you think of the purchases MJ made? Let us know in the comments below. If you enjoy this content,
