The Easy Way To Create T-Shirt Designs - Canva and Adobe Illustrator - Text Based Designs - POD Etsy

What's up my name is Rich if you're new to the channel I make a full-time living selling t-shirts online and in this video right here I'm going to show you a few ways and how to make t-shirt designs. So before we get started we're still living in bizarre times at this point in time we're living in the coronavirus quarantine time maybe you're seeing this in the future if this video ages but in this moment we're living in some bizarre times. Anyways in the previous video I was talking about stocks and I don't have the highest level of expertise in that so I asked some of you guys for help and um buy when is it buy when or be when um I hope I'm pronouncing it right recommended the James Alcher podcast episode 558 and in that podcast it gave out some very great advice in regards to stocks at this very moment even if you're a beginner give that podcast a listen and it has some very valuable info. Anyways let's get into designing some t-shirts I'm going to show you two different ways one of them is using Adobe Illustrator and the other one is using Canva which is a website and also an app so you can use this mobile or on the desktop so whichever you prefer. The Canva account that I am on is the pro account it's I believe it's 13 or 14 bucks a month please use my affiliate link down below you can get a free trial for 30 days and I get a little bit of a kickback with no extra cost to you even if you just try the free trial so please give it a try. So if you have a small business and you can't quite afford a designer this tool this website it comes very handy because not only can you just design t-shirts but you can do stuff for Instagram posts, flyers, posters, social media presentations, infographics, Facebook covers on and on it is a very very useful tool and it will make you look a lot less plain. So you can also do logos and look at these logos too all you have to do is click on the logo that you want and change the text and these are some quality items and check out this social media graphic right here live laugh love it also has the video elements so that's a very nice extra touch. Anyways we're going to get straight into making some t-shirts so let me type in where is it right here create a design I'm just going to type in t-shirt and it's going to give you a whole list of designs templates that are catered to t-shirts so before we get a t-shirt design going let's get some inspiration let's head on to google like I said it's coronavirus time let's go ahead and read this right here first wash your hands make sure y'all washing your hands if y'all weren't washing it before y'all are nasty if y'all are a man and y'all use the restroom and y'all don't wash your hands y'all are nasty because I see y'all do it all the time and you don't know how many times I try not to be next time I'm just gonna freaking call you out because I'm so tired of it get your husbands get your boyfriends tell them to wash their hands when they leave the restroom elbow coughing to it I just dabbed I guess face don't touch it if I touch my face during this video let me know feet stay more than three feet apart feel sick stay home I feel pretty good I'm still staying home so do those five things all right um let's type in what holidays coming up what niche can we do let's see so mother's day is coming up so I just typed in mother's day shirt ideas I'm gonna click on images let's take a quick look so we got bless me mom you are the queen chaos coordinator that could possibly be trademarked at this time I'm not really sure but let's just keep looking mom is always right so so something like this you can do really targeted niche like some moms could be math teachers mom is always right they would like that let's keep looking I don't really see anything too crazy I'm just gonna do this right here for the heck of it tired as a mother so let's go ahead and head on back to canva and we're just gonna scroll down see what kind of designs that we like we're just gonna click let's click on this one right here so I'm gonna click on this background text tired ass and then I'm gonna click on this front text they mother check that out let's make this a little bit bigger so I can't really do it that way but what I can do is type it in there we have it it's really that simple if we don't really like that design we can just keep on moving forward I'm sorry I was really trying to read this I was reading that sofo morez but it says sophomores sofo morez let's keep going down look at this one right here um that won't necessarily work too much something like this simple always does the trick and click tired as a mother so we can do this all day long until we find something that we definitely like okay here we go let's do this one replace current oops tire as now let's let's delete that part we'll put as right here in the center as a then we're gonna do murder and what we want to do is center all of it so we're gonna hit ctrl a or command a if you're on mac click position we'll go hit middle and we're good to go doesn't look too centered so don't really trust that too much we're gonna move it up to the top as much as possible because when you upload this to a print on demand website you're gonna want it to be as close to the top as possible so that should be good this looks off-centered so what you can do is click ungroup and then move this individually let's change this color to pink and then we're also going to change this block to pink oh no we want the block please so it's kind of hard to click on the block because the text is in a way so what do you want to do shrink down the text for a quick second click on the block click on the color click pink and then we're going to resize the text right back there we go and what we're going to do is delete the background that means we need this text to be black and there we have it i really don't like how solid this is me just being perfection i don't like how solid that black is in comparison to the pink so i'm just going to make it maybe gray that's better for me so now at this point in time right here is when you need the pro account when you click download you're going to need a png and you're going to need a transparent background because you don't want that white background to print on a shirt whenever you upload it to a print on demand website let's say if you had a black shirt and you saved as a jpeg it's going to have the background included and it's going to include a white box you want the png transparent background so you do need the pro account to save it in that format however i'm pretty sure you can save it as a jpeg and there's probably you can google jpeg to png transparent background free and there should be a converter somewhere i'll try to give that a look and i'll post in the comments down below so that is how you do a t-shirt design with canva for free and like i said there's plenty of other things you can use it for um just in general so um that's canva the next one that i use is my most favorite favorite favorite ever i use this for everything this is how i make my youtube intros this is how i get my stock sounds this is how i get my stock video is how i get a lot of elements it's called elements by envato elements.envato.com um i pay 200 a year for it i believe what's that come down to like 13 somewhere between 13 20 bucks a month uh thing like 15 i don't know i suck at math but it's worth every single penny at some time ago i realized i would never be the greatest designer ever so i need a little push i need some aid i need some help in it so this is what helps me out and this is how i get some cool fonts this is how i get some cool logos um let's open this up right here you can download this change the fonts you can use this for a gaming t-shirt like it says or you can use this as a mascot for like a dodgeball team volleyball team anything uh the list goes on let's keep on giving it a look let's look at volleyball team logos there you have it we have some graphic templates don't see any volleyballs but check out these fonts though it's awesome and also in the last video somebody asked me how do i make the font with these cool little swashes and cool little alternate texts and uh glyphs and whatnot so i'm going to show you that as well look how cool that is so i'm going like back and forth now i'm back at the volleyball team logos here's one right here raptors volleyball here's a soccer team here's a volleyball team all you have to do is download it and you can change the text it is awesome i promise you especially if you're just starting off with graphic design it's going to take a little bit of time to learn not only would this give you a step ahead but it'll also help you in learning because whenever you download a file you kind of break it down you can kind of understand somebody else's process in making that design so that is one way to learn just think about when you first start learning music it's easier for you to play somebody else's song than to make up your own then eventually over time the more you learn from this song and that song you end up being able to make your own song easier so this is a great way to learn design as well so let's go ahead and download this font right here because this font is pretty cool so i have that font downloaded since we did some mother's day t-shirt inspiration we're gonna go ahead and look at some father's day t-shirt ideas and then we're gonna make something with the font that we just downloaded let's give that a quick look happy first father's day dads with beards are better um let's see what else i have it here i'll call him dad i'll retire hunt fish pray repeat that's pretty cool let's do let's go ahead and do this one dads with beards are better um let's do that one that one has instead of a beard which it kind of makes sense but at the same time not really so let's type in dads let's type in axwell which is the font we just downloaded 10 i made it 10 inches wide so we have that open if you wanted to see how i did the glyphs in the last one in adobe illustrator all you have to do is select the letter and if it has additional glyphs it'll pop up down below um in alternate style so if i click this one it's going to give me a different type of a or if you want you can exit out that entire thing click on type and click on glyphs and then you can see the entire font in every single letter that you typically would not see if you just typed it in so if i click on this right here and i just all i have to do is just click on a letter that i want to see up and over here let's see what we want so all i have to do is click on like a letter that i want to see um maybe i'll double click that one now it's giving me a if i want to scroll down and see if they have any different type of s's um this font doesn't have as many alternate texas but let's go ahead and go to the previous one i used yeah this is the one i used in the last video oh okay so this is that font i never changed it to axwell okay i never changed the font to axwell i got confused for a quick second so i'm on the same font that i used in that last video so here's the d right here i clicked it selected if you can see i have the additional glyphs down below or you can just use this entire window of glyphs so you can see which one you want to select as you can see there's multiple different types of d's that i can click on so i'm going to click on that one and that one is pretty neat because i love it when a swash goes over the text and gives it that extra creative feel so that is pretty neat and we're just going to hit escape real quick i'm going to exit out of this and now i'm just going to do the rest of the text what was it again dads are something with beards dads with beards are better so now i'm just going to click t again type woof down here i'm going to go down to my inches make it maybe like seven inches i don't really like that too much now i'm using two different fonts because axwell is coming up now i'm just going to go with the original one sakana sakana sakana don't know how to say it but here we are with as you can see it already changed to t and h because sometimes they already have symbols that matches two letters and whatnot so now i'm going to resize it this is a quick tip make sure you're always holding shift and illustrator you don't want font that looks like that and i see a lot of people do this whenever they first start off this is a very immature move because you can't read that it's distorted so whenever you resize something make sure you're always holding shift oops oops hit escape dads with beards see we can turn this d into something okay now we're gonna make the width a little bit smaller okay so i'm slightly irritated because i can't get everything to fit how i wanted to within this period right now um i probably could if i gave it like another 10 minutes or so but it's starting to get me a little bit irritated but let me go ahead and show you a little bit more of the website so now i just typed in beard and now we can add even more elements if you wanted to i could download this picture right here of this beard guy um download this whole entire set right here if i wanted to i could just download this and change the text of that to dads with beards are better um the list goes on the possibility is practically endless and this is a pretty handy website to use man it is worth every single dollar i am telling y'all especially just the fonts alone make up for all of it because i'm used to just keep buying fonts from creative market but it starts to add up but let me show you two fonts that are very very popular and that will be it for the video so if you want to make just a very text based t-shirt the most popular font in this whole entire t-shirt world is babas new if that's how you say it um a lot of people use this for their youtube thumbnails a lot of people use this for t-shirts it's just the most popular font ever like check out how clean it is so if you're really just looking for a text t-shirt use this font right here it's always going to be a winner now there's this other script font very very popular as well you can get it on creative market please use my link down below if you're looking to purchase it because i'm pretty sure you've seen this font plenty of times the font is medina script this is it right here very very very popular font those are two very popular fonts medina script and babas new so i hope that helped you don't have to be the best designer in the whole entire world to sell t-shirts all right but i hope this just gives you a little bit more of a creative edge to help you out anyways um with these bizarre times going on i think i'm also gonna add in some videos of how i made money in the past where i was more hands-on like when i was in college i used to be able to book a wedding videography gig at least once or twice every single month so i'm gonna show you how i got leads on that you don't even have to be the best videographer in the world just like graphic design i'm not the best graphic designer in the world i know just enough to get some sales in the same thing for wedding videography i used to be able to get a whole bunch of gigs i'm also gonna make a full-on heat transfer vinyl course and i'm gonna upload that to udemy and i'm gonna have that for free just for a couple weeks just for y'all so just in case you want to start a heat transfer vinyl business it is a very easy way to pick up some extra money you don't even need a vinyl cutter and you don't even need that much design skills you can literally just buy a $200 cheap heat press and make your way up just by using heat transfers but if you're subscribed i'll let you know when i post that up and i'll have it for free for just a couple of weeks just for y'all and maybe i'll even touch on my graphic design past and how i was able to make a full-time income while i was in high school and right prior to college and in college so i might even touch in on that just so anybody who's having a hard time making some income right now so hopefully i can make some videos that will help y'all take y'all's business to the next level um as soon as this whole quarantine thing is over so that way you can just keep your mind going and stay productive so i hope you enjoyed this video and once again my name is rich please comment like subscribe and i'll see you next time
