At about 5:00 p.m. on the Oct 25th 2022, a fire broke out in the basement of "Today's Mall" at 37-08 Main Street in Flushing. Thick smoke was emitted.

Many fire trucks arrived at the scene, and firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. No one was injured and only one business was affected. After firefighters sprayed the fire, the basement was flooded and needed to be cleaned.

According to employees, the accident was caused by a short circuit in a business in the basement. Fortunately, the accident happened during the day and was discovered in time. If it happened after closing at night, the consequences would be disastrous.

This year, Flushing Downtown can be described as a year of "fire disaster". Two major fires broke out. The East Mall and Tung Ren Tang Medicine Store in Main Street were completely destroyed by the fifth and second-level fires in March and September of this year ; New Century Mall was affected by the fire in the East Mall, so far it has not been able to open.
