Join Present Play today! → https://theparentingjunkie.com/presentplaymembership The Parenting Junkie shares parenting help for parents who are exhausted, overwhelmed and struggling. From parenting toddlers to parenting teens, each stage has its own unique challenges between parents and kids. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to good parenting. Whether you're single parenting, currently helicopter parents, in parenting counseling or brand new parents, we all have our own struggles we want to overcome with our children. Now, there is no shortage of parenting class options, parenting resources or parenting advice out there. But how do you know which parenting tips to apply and put into action? The art of parenting is wildly unique and complex, but by the end of this video you will know what to do to create a relationship with your child based on respectful and positive parenting. It's time to stop consuming the vast amount of information available for parents and start creating the family life you desire.
In today's final challenge, I want you to make a pledge,
a promise to yourself to become a creator, not a consumer.
Just like me, you too are plugged into a device
that gives you the opinion of a billion people
at any given moment.
The trouble is, when we become passive consumers
of what other people are feeding us,
we give away our powers, our creative powers,
over the narrative of our lives.
Today, I wanna challenge you to make a mental decision
about your identity, a pledge, if you will,
and to sign a contract with yourself
that you will no longer allow other people's stories,
dogmas, philosophies, ideas, and dictates
to become your own inner voice,
to override your own ideas and stories,
to control how you feel about you and your life,
unless you give them consent to,
unless you handpick them as people who uplift you
and empower you, as ideas that make you stronger.
So for example, you won't allow that person
that you're stalking on Instagram
to make you feel like a rubbish parent by comparison,
because you'll understand that you're no longer
gonna be comparing your backstage to their front stage,
or your resources to theirs.
Or you won't allow that article you read
on the importance of special time, or co-sleeping,
or whatever it is, to make you feel lesser than
or not good enough, because you'll remember
that we all do the best we can with what we have,
and we all have unique needs and resources
and challenges and kids.
You'll remind yourself that you get to decide
which parenting philosophies resonate and work
for you and your family.
You won't let that comment from your neighbor
rub you the wrong way, because you'll remind yourself
that you get to decide which voices to listen to,
that you don't consume other people's opinions,
you create opinions of your own.
Today, I want you to pledge to yourself
that you are on a mission to create family bliss,
moment by moment, that you are a creator
and no longer just a consumer.
My guess is that you already know what to do.
You've read the articles and seen the videos
about how to help siblings with rivalry,
or how to take charge of your own mindset,
or even how to design your home.
But there's a powerful difference between
knowing the things and doing the things.
Am I right?
How many of us have seen hundreds and thousands
of memes, articles, comments, ideas, videos, podcasts
that tell us how to live our best life,
how to be the parent we wanna be,
and create the home and family life we wanna create,
but then we do nothing about it.
It stays in the realm of things we know.
Let's compare this to someone who knows
what they need to do to get healthy.
They know what they need to eat,
they know what they need to do at the gym,
they know they need to sleep and drink water,
but they don't do it.
That's a consumer, that's someone who is just
accepting passive information, but not taking action
and creating the results they wanna see in their life.
And that person is not gonna see those results,
even though they know all the things.
So today, I wanna challenge you to stop being
a consumer of other people's ideas
of how you should live your best life.
Sure, take the information, get the inspiration,
but don't stop there.
Look, truth time, I am a performance coach for parents,
and I measure the success of my work
in other people's real life results.
If I just inspire you and give you ideas,
I've failed, honestly.
My job is to get you to take action
on the things that will create family bliss for your family.
It's to get you to see real results.
If I don't help you create real results in your life,
then I've failed at my work.
Inspiring you is not enough.
I need to get you to take effective action
and really see the transformations
that you're craving in your real life.
So let me give you some examples
of what it means to be a creator rather than a consumer.
When you log into social media,
come with the intent of being a creator,
not just a consumer.
Adding and contributing something positive,
uplifting, inspiring, or helpful
to the platform that you're engaging with,
rather than simply consuming passively.
Or perhaps in your home,
rather than being a passive consumer
where you just buy a bunch of stuff
and then you're overwhelmed by clutter,
by hand-me-downs, by buildup,
by default situations or default furniture
that you've just happened to have.
You become a creator who mindfully designs
play zones and spaces that really support your children
and the stage that they're in.
How about becoming a creator of your time and your flow?
Have you considered that time is something
that we create, we craft?
And rather than just going through the day haphazardly
and letting things happen to us,
we can become intentional creators
that create the experiences we want throughout our day.
You can become a creator
of the type of parent you wanna be.
Rather than consuming all of the books
and articles and podcasts and just getting stuck there,
you actually move into changing your words,
your communication skills, your behaviors,
your schedules, your rules at home
in order to adapt and become and create
the type of parenting and the type of relationship you want.
And become the creator of all the relationships you have.
Create the type of family experience
you want to be a part of,
the type of family experience that lights you up,
that was what you signed up for to begin with,
the reason that you founded your family.
Don't just sit there passively and say,
well, my kid just doesn't play
or my kid is super clingy or my marriage is super tense.
There are things that we can do about it.
Become a creator.
Create family bliss.
Creating bliss is possible even in the darkest of times.
Focusing on the joy, the connection, the love
that characterizes those blissful moments
scattered throughout our day,
this is exactly what families need right now,
more than ever.
It's what we always need
and that's what we do in present play.
We are creators.
We don't just accept the hardships,
the default stress passively and helplessly.
We actively shape our family's lives
into what we want it to be.
We create space, flow, experiences,
peace, presence and wisdom.
Present play is performance coaching for visionary parents.
You have a vision for your family,
whether you know it consciously or not.
You're on some kind of mission.
Present play is designed to help you
create bliss every single month.
You're already the founder of your family unit.
Now it's time for you to become the CEO.
CEOs are visionaries
and it's time for you to hold that vision for your family.
So take the pledge with me now
to move from just consuming to also being creators,
to create family bliss.
And if you wanna take this further,
I warmly invite you to join present play.
