OFF GRID Cabin Update Ice Fishing

Hi everyone and welcome back to another video. In this video I make some significant progress on the washroom at the cabin and then we went ice fishing so I hope you enjoy watching. If you missed my last video at the cabin then this is what it currently looks like. We finished framing the walls for the washroom but in this video we end up finishing the wall panels and putting the vanity in. We also did the wiring so I can install an outlet and a light because right now there's no window in the washroom so it'll be pretty dark in there. The cabin is fully off-grid so it'll be powered by solar. The toilet that I'm installing is a composting toilet. I'll go into more detail on that in the future when I actually finish assembling and fully installing it. Honestly. Cut. No audio. You want a music? Another music video. I thought you used so much music in your videos. Yeah. The silence. It's the third time with this one minnow. Yeah. That's cool. Good minnow management. Yes. Good job mom. Saving our resources. And the third time's gonna be the charm. Oh my god. Oh I got it. Pull it out. Okay grab it up and then you can decide whether to leave it down. Yeah you have one. All the fish are away from this hole now. That's a pretty one too. No. What do you think Sean? It's small but whatever. Depends whether I'm gonna get help cleaning these things or not. Knife down like this. Down but you're not cutting all the way through. The bone, the spine is halfway through the fish right? So you want to go down just till you feel the bone. Angle it more so you're getting the spine. Start slowly working down. You can feel it on the spine. That's a male. I'm gonna flip it over and do the same thing. So straight down here? No get behind the fin. Yep. Straight down here? Yep. Again don't cut through the spine. Yeah that's semen. That's what my dad said it's a boy fish. Yeah yeah it's a lot. So smelt fishing which we used to do on like some gold. You catch them. That's a big one of smelt would be the size of these birds. They're even smaller and you catch them in nets and you catch them by the hundreds. So you sit there all literally all night. It is very tasty fish. More music. Now it smells like curry and they're like not sure what to do. You don't want the big one on there because it's got bone in it. That's why you fish for small things. If you want to eat self-sufficiently and be self-reliant you target the species you're allowed to eat a ton of or keep a ton of. So our ice fishing was fairly successful. We didn't end up catching any big fish but we got tons of small perch. Although it's unfortunate that we didn't get any big fish it did make it more enjoyable because we were constantly catching fish instead of just sitting around all day and waiting and maybe only getting one or two. So we did have a really good time but yeah unfortunately they are very small.
