Estate sales, barn sales, and junk stores, nothing's off limits. Pickin's not just for the
boys anymore. We're Laura and Selena, two best friends with two very different styles, but one
passion. We want to inspire you to find your own unique style through secondhand finds.
Join us as we hit the road for undiscovered treasures on The Recycled Life. I'm so excited
about this Goodwill specifically because this is where I just found my Lisa Larson cat that you
guys saw in the last episode. That was only about a week and a half ago, so I'm like, fingers crossed,
maybe they did a second donation and I'm gonna find the whole collection. Wish us luck today.
Oh, I love these baskets. These are the best with the wheels, so you can like be hands-free and
leave it in the aisle while you look for treasures. I love it. I already spotted a couple goodies.
So these are both not old pieces, but they're so pretty. Aren't they pretty? Yeah, and you can make
something with the new jewelry kit stuff we got. Yeah, they both look like they're kind of vintage.
This one's $3.99, this one's $3.99 too. You have to get really close, get your face up to the glass
so you'd see all the good ones. One of the first places I always go is to the furniture because I
always feel like the smalls you really have to dig through and they take a lot of time,
but if you go to the furniture someone can just snatch up a chair really quick, so you don't want
to miss out. So let's go, come on. We're on our way to furniture so we don't miss out on anything.
And Selena, look, she already has stuff in the cart. She was literally just grabbing stuff off the
shelves as we were going. I always look through the art because you never know. Usually it's not
not so good, but you never know if you're going to find something amazing like an original
signed piece. So take the minute to look. Always worth a chance. Got some princesses.
I love watercolors. This is a signed one. I'm not going to get it, but that is pretty.
Textiles. I got sidetracked already from the furniture. Those are really pretty. Those are
gorgeous. These are going in the cart, $4.99. Hand woven love. We're getting some color today
already. We should have got a proper cart. I know, I don't, you wanted to grab the little one. I know.
So no furniture today, but that's okay because that gives us more room to like pack the car
full of 100 smalls. So I always go to the end caps and look really hard because people will
tuck things away in the back. But part of why the end caps are so great is a lot of times,
that's where they put the brand new stuff. So no one else has had a chance to get it yet.
But it's also a lot of people walk up and down the aisles and they change their mind about an item
and they'll put it back. And this is kind of the most convenient, easiest place to put it back
without having to go back to the aisle they got it from. So pro tip, always look really hard on
the end caps because things will get tucked back in there. So if I had my own clothing line,
it would be called Glitter Girl. Isn't this perfect? Oh my gosh, what is this? It's my color
and no one likes a shady beach. This is like everything. How much is this? Oh, and it's
Target. So it's probably new and it's $4.99. This kind of needs to go in the cart, right?
Like everything for summer. This is a really beautiful mid-century lamp. Look at the colors
on it. They're kind of this like taupe-y purple-y plum. It's really rare. Usually a lot of the
mid-century pieces are going to be vibrant colors. Oranges and greens and you know drippy lava glaze.
So this is a really classic classy. I feel like this could go into like a contemporary home and
it wouldn't even look that mid-century. Looks like it's already time for a cart upgrade.
I don't know what I was thinking getting the little cart for the both of us because
I knew we'd fill it up quick but now we were ready. We were ready. Okay, now we can go shopping.
Let's go. I love this drinkware how tall they are but they're just a little bit too like orange-y
brown for the brown ones that I have. They won't quite match. That's too bad because I need martini
cups. Not that I even drink martinis at home, do you? I never do. Oh, I see something right behind
you. Look at the cart behind you. That painting. I turned around and it's already gone so now we
got to go find that painting. Okay, I think she already put it away in the painting aisle so
ah let's go. Where is it? Where is it? Oh, small painting. I see it. This is cool. Look at the
colors in it. Look at this. It says happy birthday Kay. Love you mom 1973. Oh, I really like the
colors in this. This is a really good one. Again, not a Boston Terrier but these are really cute.
It's $2.99. Okay, so I always check the candles because last summer I found a Diptyque candle
and if you know about Diptyque you know that they're $60 candles and I found one here for
only $1.99 so I always check for very fancy candles when I come to Goodwill.
How about this? How much? $2.99. Pretty little candle holder. Check out this kitty.
This is so cute. I know it's new. Yes, it's Threshold Target but oh my gosh, they did a
good job on that one. I like the shape and the pattern but alas, no Target today. Oh, check this
one out. Definitely getting that. I'm over all the smalls now. Okay, I want to go to dresses
first because I saw some like really great colored maxis and things that like caught my eye as we
were walking through so we need to go right now. Get this junk out of my way. Let's go.
This purse caught my eye when we first came in. I was like oh Michael Kors but it's like
an X whatever that is. Is it like a knockoff? Yeah. I wouldn't know either but it's like pastels and
stuff. What are we gonna find? I also love a good jumpsuit too so I always keep an eye out for those.
Can I just say that angle? Your lion bag is really amazing. Cool.
Selena got that for five dollars in case you missed our last episode and saw. Too bad this
isn't my size because I love the print. I guess you could belt it, huh, but it's still like a lot
of fabric. Yeah, then it would look very 70s if you put like a big chunky bell. Yeah, it's cute.
Oh, I have a big chunky 70s bell. Oh my gosh, look at this 80s moment here. This is somebody's
dream 80s prom dress. Oh my gosh, look at the little tasselies on the side from the sleeves.
That's really cute. This looks like somebody's homemade vintage dress. I don't really care for
this kind of fabric but the color is really. The color is great and the cut's kind of pretty too.
Yeah. Gosh, I want to try this. This is from Target. Our Goodwills get a lot of brand new
stuff from Target which is why if we want something we always look here first because it's
so much less expensive. So anyways, I'm going to try this jumpsuit on because like I said,
I love a jumpsuit and this is like a really great neutral. It's that lightweight chambray
and it's only $7.99 so I'm going to put this in the cart too. One of my favorite things to do is
to shop for things off season. I always come to the coat section even if it's 100 degrees outside
because most people are donating their coats when it's hot out and they go, I'm not going to use
this. I might as well donate it. So it's a really good time to find vintage coats and this is one
I just found here and I actually think I'm going to get this for myself because I love a good old
leather coat. Very 70s. The color on this one's great. I love the length of it, how it doesn't
go all the way down to my ankles so it's not going to get wet if I'm out traipsing around in the rain.
Wait, I'm going to do my runway. Are you ready for this? Runway? Okay, we're just going to do
her version of our runway. I really think there's no reason to buy anything new because there are
so many fun styles and patterns in here and different things that can be very on trend for
the summer season. So look here, thrift it first. Oh my gosh, this is very 90s like slip dress trend
that's in right now. Like that very like flowy fabric with the floral. I kind of want to try
this. I'm kind of into like mod dresses right now and it's like very bold with the long sleeves.
That's so cool. There's literally like another aisle over here. Lace. You know what? When you're
thrifting for clothing it's really important to actually look through all the different sizes
because things can get shuffled around or especially if it's vintage like a size large
is not technically like a modern day size large. Always worth it to look every single aisle. Would
you just die if you saw me wear this color because it's so close to pink but I actually like it.
I might try that on. I think it's really pretty. It's Jessica Simpson and it's a large
and so she always makes her larges like for curvy girls so I think it might actually fit me.
Ten dollar Jessica Simpson dress for the win. Loving the color. This is perfect for summer
and this is the necklace that I got there as well and I really like this you know pastel
coral color with the turquoise. This isn't an actual vintage piece but for $3.99 I love the
layered look. I love tassels. I thought it was a good deal. Okay um wanna hit hats, scarves,
and shoes. Yes let's go and maybe a maxi skirt along the way. What is this one? Fabric feels
very fancy. Oh my gosh the max studio with the tags on it. Brand new with tags from Macy's.
A max studio skirt. Ooh belts. We have to look at belts because the vintage dress I got looks
like it might be a little bit big but if I belted it with something then it would give like a nice
kind of like tailored look to it. Oh my gosh I think I donated this belt. Like I'm pretty sure
it was mine once. That's what's funny if you like thrift locally you see like the stuff that you've
donated like come back around again. I love it. What do we think of like this maroon belt paired
with this or should I go should I go like tone on tone like that or should I go more leathery?
Try both. What about even I was just gonna say what about the green one?
You know the girl inside me wants to go for this one but you know I got Laura with me toning it
down. Are we going into shoes you guys? I used to never look here. I don't know why. I was just
missing out on so much. I never knew that you could like find a really cool designer shoe and
a lot of them are actually brand new that are like store donations. Those are so vintage. Look at
these with the gold heel on. It's like a metal and this is like a pony hair. Sam Fork from Palm
Springs. They're so cute. Very cute. Are they too small for you? Yeah they're way too small. How
much are they? I might get them for me. $6.99. But they're half off. Is this the color of the day?
It's blue. Yeah we just found our first blue color of the day. Totally gonna resell those. Amazing.
I bet you that's anything this bag is Betsy Johnson. It is. It's Betsy Johnson. She always
gets it right. Look at this one. This one's very Laura. Caryland USA. Look at that. It's like the
ostrich embossed leather. That's a nice bag. Laura's distracted. She just spotted a killing pillow.
$4.99. With this. Yep. I got distracted. I spotted something pretty.
Gorgeous. That is very pretty. Oh I love the colors. I know. While Laura's getting
distracted looking at pillows I was accessorizing one of my outfits and I found this really pretty
peach colored scarf and she's actually going to be surprised that this pick for a bag
to go with the chambray jumpsuit. But it's very Laura but it's kind of like me too because it's
like girly. It looks almost like lace but it's macrame. So in the cart. The jumpsuit is brand
new from Target. Still has the tags on it and it's $7.99. $4.99 macrame handbag. My wedge shoes are
only $6.99 and this scarf is brand new at $7.99. I love this like pop of peach for spring. It's a
really cute easy summer outfit. Okay I told you these pants are gonna be tight. I'm like sucking
it in. This hat. This color like this oxblood burgundy is always like super in for fall so I
love to keep an eye out for it and everybody loves like a nice floppy hat. I feel like that kind of
completes the look. Okay I think I'm gonna steal Selena's hat if she doesn't get it because look
how cute this color is. I like it though. I like a good floppy hat too. I am now reporting to you
live from our local Goodwill. I had to bring it in this dress. This is like very 80s reporter
and then she goes and has a martini afterwards. I love it. I love the shoulder pads, this neckline
and like the color blocking at the bottom is everything. Okay that was a bad idea.
I was even supportive of that. I thought this had such high health so it's like
Can you do a twirl for me Selena? You still want a twirl? A sad twirl.
You guys we got a whole cart full of treasures between the two of us. Right now we're headed
to go check out. Selena always makes fun of me because everything I get matches but I think it
means that I have my style defined. My pillow apparently matches my coat. Does it match the
hat too? I got an entire cart full for $88 which might sound like a lot to spend at a thrift store
but to be honest just this jacket alone is worth $100 if I was keeping it for myself.
It might even be worth $150. Should I explain my voice real quick? I've been really sick lately
hence the voice. I did not start smoking but there's a silver lining to everything and this
girl pointed it out. What'd you tell me on the phone the other day? Yeah we were having a business
conference call and I was like you kind of sound like Emma Stone. Emma Stone, I got red hair and
now I have Emma Stone's voice so this is this is good. There's a silver lining to being sick.
Going first thing in the morning when they open the doors is the best because you get like the
VIP shopping, cherry picking, meat on the bone. I don't know any more terms. I can't say that one.
Isn't there a bird? The early bird gets the worm. Yeah. Yeah that's why we like going when it opens
because the early bird gets the worm. This store was super awesome and employees were really
friendly and put up with all of our silliness. Yeah we're like dinging the you know the buzzer
in the back to open up the dressing rooms. They're very patient. This is probably our favorite
Goodwill. Yeah. Yeah out of all the Goodwills I think this is one of our favorite ones. They have
really nice staff. Today was really hard to stay together because when Selena and I go and we're
not filming, which is like all the time, we immediately split. We get in the store and we're
like we kind of both peek at the jewelry and then I go to housewares and she goes to clothing and
accessories so this was really hard for us to stay together and like film each other. I'm used
to hitting like five, six, seven Goodwills in a day. Like I don't mess around so it's sometimes I
have to slow down my pace a little bit for her. I was enjoying myself as a leisurely hunt. It was
fun and we found some really pretty things. Let us know if you'd like to see another Thrift With Us

with us on Instagram so don't forget to tag us and follow along. Thank you so much R. Adams Thrift
for sharing your awesome free mid-century desk you got on Craigslist. What a deal. Epic. There's nothing
better than free. I mean that is the best price. The best. And way to go Emma. She scored four
mid-century chairs at her local thrift store for only 40 bucks. That's amazing. That's ten
dollars a chair for solid wood chairs that could last an entire lifetime. That's a deal. Super cool.
Good job Emma. Don't forget to follow us on Instagram so we can keep sharing all of your
awesome finds.
