It was really weird last night going to bed because we went to sleep at like nine
o'clock and it was still sunny out.
The sunsets at like nine 30 and then almost in August it was really weird.
Plus it was light out at like before five o'clock,
which is what time I got up today.
It's now almost eight and we are going for breakfast.
I got to get a shot of that. Get hematized.
Having breakfast at the Brasserie. Nice mix. I did the same thing you did.
I got that. I definitely feel outclassed at this place for sure.
This definitely isn't our people.
Back out into the world and onto our outlander tour.
Here's our vans.
As much as it's an outlander tour to really understand how big that impact was
as a result of the Jacobite rebellion,
we need an overview of Scotland,
how it came to be and the challenges it's faced during that time.
So there's going to be extra history throughout the day as well,
just as an overview as much as possible.
So if you've seen the movie Braveheart as well,
we're going to be looking into the Scottish Wars of Independence and so on later
on. But most importantly,
Fáilte Gu Alba, Fáilte Gu Alba.
Welcome to Scotland and welcome to my hometown,
the city of Edinburgh. You're all very fortunate.
Both my parents were teachers, so I was brought up to speak nice and clearly.
However, I know people in this city and I don't understand a word they say on the
phone. Up to the left, lining up the Royal Mile is the Old Town.
This is the New Town.
Now the New Town is older than the United States of America,
but we still call it the New Town.
This was deliberate architecture to give a sense of society and stature.
There are lots of these pillars throughout the New Town.
And as a result, Edinburgh got yet another name,
Athens often.
Okay.
This is because the good old government in Westminster likes to take money off
of people and introduced window tax.
And if you have too much light coming into your property,
you were taxed more for it.
Let me get your picture over here on the stairs, babe. Okay. I got it.
A little bit more in the building.
You want the building, huh?
I gotcha. I gotcha.
I'm not going to make it as a professional photographer.
This guy's just going all in. I love it.
The master of the very wide shot strikes again.
It just keeps going. I don't think you can go out that door.
There's a giant cliff right outside of it.
Traps were trapped in the castle. They can't quite see the whole way down.
The most epic spiral staircase. Well,
this is neat. Here's what it used to look like, buddy.
I wasn't in this.
That's what I pictured like in the movie,
when it's all populated with people.
I have like a platform right in the center here.
And then I feel like dad and Dougal were over here and watching it
happen.
This guy's got a full on movie production.
What is that thing? It's like a horn is out there.
I don't know. I see it though.
You're crazy. We got to get up there though. We got to find a way.
This is tougher hiking than the thing we did yesterday.
Oh, to light it.
Do you think they were this short that they could just walk in here normally?
Oh goodness. It just goes right out through there.
Think about all the people that is never once here.
That have come and gone, but this place is still standing.
Did they ever think that 400 years later,
there'd just be people walking around out here on a tourism thing,
taking pictures and selfies and stuff like that.
This is like a perfect little playhouse for Clark man in here.
Yeah. You're up here.
The bottom of what Clark and I were just in an addition in 1693.
Yeah. They put that on so they could keep people out.
Our country wasn't even country yet. Nope. Yet.
They're here. They're here defending themselves.
We're about to climb the central tower, the main mast or prison tower.
Room with a view. Did we make it?
This is a great lookout spot. Oh, this takes you out to the pier.
Oh, he's excited. Blackness Bay. This is a great destination.
I'm glad we stopped here.
I'm going to be stopping in a quaint little town called Linlithgow.
Enter the palace is actually closed off to public due to fallen masonry.
This is a 14th century ruin building.
However, you can enter through the gates,
walk around the grounds and get photographs.
And there's a beautiful lake down by the palace as well.
Well, it's cute little town.
We're getting our steps and our climbing in this trip.
Oh yeah. You want to get my camera? I'll take some pictures.
It's already wound.
So you just look through that little view thing and then you take a picture of
whatever you want to see. You just press that button down,
but don't press it until you're ready to take your shot. Okay.
This button right here when you're looking in there and there you go,
you took a picture. Now when you're done taking a picture,
you want to rewind that. Okay. So you go like that. Can you do that?
So why did it this way? See like that.
When that's all wound up, when it stops moving,
that means you're ready for another photo and we now have a 24 shots left on
here. I got that turret thing in the background. That's great. Thank you.
I've completely forgotten to take my pictures. This is lovely down here.
Your pigeons in there. You have a swan down there.
First thing he thinks of. It's impressive. Oh yeah,
that'd be a great spot right here off the side of here.
And you can go ice skating out there as well. Wow.
So this place here, is that a Buffalo chicken?
I got a grilled chicken Caesar wrap. Clark man got himself a little burger.
Oh, a little veggie too. Good lunch. Cafe bar,
1807. I really like how the place is that for rent. It says to let
don't run. We made it back.
So I hope you're all feeling refreshed.
We're heading West and of course our target is Castle.
Dune Castle is its real name.
You might also recognize it if you are a game of Thrones fan,
because it played Winterfell in the pilot episode in season one.
He drank so much he was steaming, reeking, hanging, making out with Morgan and
Blutard. Then all Scots words for drunk,
just depending on what level and what state you are, he was all of them.
Here we go. Dune Castle coming up on the right hand side.
And then if you look to the left, you'll see I'm not lying. River teeth.
I don't have the Scottish spit to do it. Oh, I got to clean my lens off.
Archer three o'clock.
You think so? Okay, we'll see.
Oh goodness. It's the mark of a double Clark man. That's legit.
I put in a new number for Minecraft. One, two, three, four.
Oh, that's neat.
They give us all this history and these audio guides.
And at the time it would have been like really big deals. Right.
But now it's like, we don't even remember these people.
We don't know who these people are.
And it just shows you just like how small you are in like history.
Even these historical people, like all the people that lived here and,
and died here.
Everyone like minors, these royals and stuff.
But then it's like you just hear how they treated people and wanted to keep
power.
But my thing more is like just how small life is. Even if even a big one.
Yeah. Even a big one. Like it was small really.
And now we just come here and we take photos and we look around at the castle
and go on outlander tours.
And I appreciate everything. This whole experience has just been incredible.
It has been, it's been pretty neat.
I love checking out these castles and the tours. Well, hello there.
I think this is where they keep their cars parked. Look at that shot.
You have fun there.
It's getting at the gift shop.
I want to get those nights so bad, but I realized they had no articulation.
What have I done to you boys?
What I'm about to tell you doesn't just bear an impact into Scotland,
but it had ripple effects and bears an impact in the United States of America
and across the world. The two sides collide.
Government forces open fire.
Jacobite army dropped like flies out of the sky spreading across the
battlefield.
The government forces cavalry see an opportunity to the south of the
battlefield. They gallop round and they breach a farm wall.
They outflank the Jacobites.
Bonnie Prince Charlie sitting on his horse is about to charge in and help his
men, but he stopped.
Razzabonnie Prince was laid off that battlefield.
The Jacobite army,
including my very own ancestors were near on annihilated.
If you feel like you need a stiff drink after that recantation of history,
there's the pub on the right hand side.
You can drown your sorrows there with a wee brandy if you wish to do so.
Here is Outraged pretends to faint just over on the left hand side there and
Jamie comes and saves the little boy and all is well.
Wonder what these people think about all these people coming into their town
like this. Probably happy to bring money in. I missed it by two seconds.
The bell tower went off up there to signal four o'clock.
Clark was tempted by this slide that's over here.
He's going to see if it was slidey. Did it work?
What's the phrase to come back down? What do you like better?
Castles or playground equipment? Castles.
Nice.
Biscuit cafe.
Chocolate and peanut butter, buddy.
Hey, our table is just waiting for us here.
Let's do a taste test.
Try that one. This one needs something to wash it down. That one is perfection.
How do you rate that one? 10 out of 10. That's a dipping one right there.
It's a dipping dot. Yup.
Oh, it's like Christmas. It's like Christmas in my mouth.
Biscuit cafe is no joke here. Then we'll come back.
And Coleris. Oh, there you go.
If you ever make your way to Coleris, that's where we're at.
You could sit right here and have a little bit of this, a little bit of that.
A little bit of apricot juice. A little bit of coffee. I'm better now.
They walked us down to this place.
I was paying no attention to how we got there or whatever.
And then he let us go off on our own. We did.
And now we have no idea where we're going,
but we think we're going the right way and it's down here and to the right to
find our van, which happens to be leaving in 10 minutes.
We'll see.
I think it's down here to the right. That scared me a little bit.
I was like, no. And then it was a different guy.
This looks familiar to you. Like our vehicles right over there.
I thought you were talking about on the side of the road, like there, there.
No, I told you it's up here to the right. It's right there.
He's trying to make excuses. I didn't know you were talking about a van or a road.
We were standing right there. You ate a biscuit right down here.
Draw a picture of your face here. Like my little Pac-Man.
Is that a fun day doing all that stuff? Are you, are you whooped?
I try to go home.
