We are sailing out of Cowles Harbor on the Isle of Wight.
And there it is over there.
Nice strong headwind.
Sails are up.
The motor ran for a few minutes enough to get me out of the harbor.
Going to be a lot of tacking today.
So let's figure out one first so we can kind of figure out the angles.
Really good sailing out here today.
The water is like super flat and we got 18 knots of wind.
Heeled over about 45 degrees.
It's awesome.
The current was in my favor the whole trip and it made my tacking angles really nice.
So we got in pretty good for having the headwinds the whole way.
Here we are at the marina.
I actually called ahead and I got slip number H7.
It's H2 just now.
Look at that thing.
You can imagine sailing around the world in that single-handed in the Southern Ocean.
Non-stop. Alone.
This morning we're headed to the boat show.
We're going to look at some boats and maybe we can smooze some free stuff.
These electric hydrofoils look super fun.
I want to try one one day.
Just checking out the small inflatables.
I don't think these are as good as my inflatable boat Lingenberry.
They have lots of electric outboard options coming out now.
So that's pretty neat.
Look at the new electric outboard options.
This might be good for the dinghy.
There's a folding kayak.
Pretty neat.
It's like a signboard.
These tandem islands are pretty rad.
It would be cool to do an adventure trip in Florida with one.
It's a boat car.
I really like this dragon folding trimaran.
I bet it goes pretty fast.
I could go trimaran.
Crazy bow design.
Genoa.
We've got textile doors.
That's an interesting idea.
For berths.
So I guess you can sleep better on a heel.
Or more pipe berths I guess.
Very interesting.
What have we got here?
We've got the new robot.
That's a boat hook.
What do you need it for?
I've got the top.
Yeah, not bad.
Floats, a brush, a net, a camera, and lights.
I've got the GoPro adapter.
Where can people find these?
That's CV Progress.
Thank you very much.
A small generator.
I thought this furling boom system on the X-Yacht was pretty cool.
After using the furling mast, it seems like a neat idea to have.
Here we've got another trimaran.
This one also folds up for a trailer.
Or marina slip.
What's the model?
Astus 22.
Very cool.
Let's see what a new one looks like.
2.9.
That's awesome.
Beautiful.
Holy smokes.
It's bigger than my whole boat.
OK, this is probably the best boat of the show.
Got the boats, you know.
These Spirit yachts have a different look than a lot of the ones at the boat show.
This is a little different.
It's all electric.
No generator.
1.6 million for 44 feet.
But I like it.
I'm considering a life raft.
I've never had one before.
But I figure two ocean crossings maybe is time.
This might have been good on the Hobie Cat.
Wouldn't want to spend a lot of time in there.
Just got back from the boat show.
Been going through all my swag.
Mark watched my videos.
He works at Gill.
He hooked me up with a bunch of samples with lots of sailing jackets.
We're ready for winter now.
Maybe some more polar adventures in the future.
I'd love to go to Antarctica.
That's on my list.
I don't know.
There's lots to do.
I got some warm clothes on.
I'll stay warm now.
We also got these watch keeping alarms.
You plug it in and it sets a timer for however long.
It keeps you so you don't fall asleep when you're on watch.
Or let's say you can sleep for a certain amount and wake up.
I'll experiment with those and see how they work.
I got this interesting boat hook that unrolls.
This is cool for a small boat or dinghy.
The boat hook can be an awkward shape.
I got this one strapped to my ceiling.
Here it goes.
Thanks for watching.
I had fun at the boat show checking out the boats and gear.
Talking with people.
In the next video I'll be sailing around the Needles.
I'm working my way over towards Amsterdam.
I'll see you guys then.
