Saint-Laurent is a French luxury fashion house currently under the creative direction of Anthony
Vaccarello who appointed Blackpink's Rosé as Global Ambassador making her the first global
ambassador in 59 years as well as muse for YSL Beauty. Vocalist Rosé is a creative spirit who
is best known for her unique vocal timbre receiving not only praise for her distinct
signature voice but also her dynamic looks and style that hold a cool yet graceful essence.
She is a perfect fit due to her musical talents and traits along with her chic image
which suits the aesthetic of the fashion house holding raw elegance and refinement.
Saint-Laurent has a history of working with many musicians and having muses contribute
greatly to the house. Rosé keeps the Parisian flair infused with rock and roll edge aesthetic
of the brand intact and brings her personality to the fashion house. As ambassador, she can be seen
in music videos, performances, editorials, appearances, everyday looks, and brand campaigns
wearing YSL clothing that suits her preference for chic laid-back looks while maintaining a bit
of edge or uniquely modern traits. When asked about her relationship to fashion and the brand,
in an interview with Vogue she stated,
I think fashion reflects a lot of my personality. If you look into the way I wore this and what
made me wear that, you will learn what the process of my brain is like. YSL has the best
casual but classic and vintage styled items so it really bounces out with my own styling.
The stylist of Blackpink feels that Rosé's look has a street style lenient of cool due to her
pursuits in youthful style that is a bit mischievous. Many times Rosé's style takes
inspiration from the various genres of music that she dabbles in herself giving her a wide
range of styles that are bold with strong and cool charisma which inspires many that look up
to her. With this cool aesthetic, appearance, and style with strong personality she perfectly
captures what it means to be a YSL woman through her personal fashion as she can usually be seen
in outfits that combine a Parisian elegance with a rock-infused essence that is balanced
out with a softer bohemian vibe within her personal style. The brand is one of elegance,
complexity, rebellion, and freedom founded by Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bourget
who contributed greatly to the fashion industry through their differing approach to fashion.
His fresh perspective offered the importance of not only elegance but also comfort for women
that is conveyed in the groundbreaking designs of the house which Rosé expresses and aids in
carrying on the legacy of. She does so as brand ambassador which is defined as a person who is
formally recognized and employed by the brand as a representative to raise brand awareness
and promote products. Often they are the face commonly associated with the fashion house
as they will embody the identity of the brand through their own appearance,
demeanor, and values. I speak on this more in the first video of the Blackpink and High Fashion
Brand Ambassadorship series which focuses on Lisa's style and the fashion house Celine.
With top searches, influence, and large following, Rosé also brings high fashion to the public
and is able to express herself as well as the aesthetic supplements her creative endeavors
and music through her clothing. The founder of this fashion house was an arts enthusiast who
stressed the importance of not only just wearing clothing but to be an individual explaining
clothes must be subordinated to the personality of a woman and not vice versa. This is exactly how
Rosé interacts with clothing and utilizes her style through YSL's chic meets bohemian rock
aesthetic. For instance, in her new music video, on the ground alongside many other glamorous
ensembles that capture her spirit as an artist, Rosé is seen in an Alex Perry strapless hot pink
gown paired off with a leather biker jacket from YSL finished off with baseline trader boots.
A vigorous look that holds a heavy yet strong vibe with a softer essence to go with the glamorous,
rebellious, and poetic imagery of the song's visuals. Rosé offers a differing sensibility
as a vocalist which makes her work very idiosyncratic much like the current YSL creative
director Anthony Vaccarello who is a Belgian fashion designer. He is well known for sophisticated
tributes, sensitivity within his work, and his liberated, empowering, contemporary perspective
that he brings to the fashion house. Anthony Vaccarello appointed Rosé to the house.
The relationship between the vocalist and the brand was officially solidified in her debut
for YSL 32 the Fall 2020 campaign where she is in a short film by the prestigious photographer
David Sims and the staple intimate black and white imagery of the house. In it,
she perfectly captures the spirit of the brand while retaining her personal style.
She can be seen in a black mini dress dancing to the track Shut Me Down by Roland S. Howard
and other photography of the same series. She is sporting a leopard print blouse,
black slim fitted trousers, a croc leather belt, and a snake lock bangle.
Rosé can also be seen in another film shot by David Sims.
For the newly launched Selfarina bag, a classic satchel bag with a front flap and pivoting metal
closure. She wears a beige leather bag slung effortlessly over her shoulder that was dubbed
the must-have accessory of the season. Rosé is known for her interest and taste in handbags
from a young age who is now constantly seen with YSL bags which has caused a staggering increase
of 1,168% of online store searches after her campaign. Recently in 2020, she carried on the
effortless theme of the campaign shot by Grey Sorrenti for this campaign. She wears a double
denim look as well as another outfit with a blouse, mini shorts, and thigh-high boots paired
off with a statement belt. Following this, in 2021, she officially became the newest face
of YSL Beauty making her not only a fashion muse, but a beauty muse for the brand as well.
This announcement was within a video on Vogue Korea, YSL's new beauty muse, Rosé's new digital
pictorial release. Please meet her flawless skin and unrivaled aura made complete with YSL Beauty's
first couture marble pact. In this promotional piece, she is in an all-black look with gold
accents to coordinate with the luxurious look of the YSL Beauty aesthetic. Influence is a crucial
skill and talent as a global brand ambassador which Rosé has mastered that has made her work
with YSL incredibly far-reaching and accessible to those who enjoy her music and beyond. For
instance, Rosé has broken records on social media for being one of the most followed K-pop idols.
Rosé is one to share her personal style within her Instagram posts as well as a look behind the
of her work in fashion and of course her music such as preparing for performances along with
numerous magazine and editorial looks. Giving fans a look into her own creative projects,
Rosé contributes to YSL not only through her personal fashion, but also through her influence.
An example of this is how the singer invited, at the time, her 33.2 million Instagram followers
to go watch the YSL Summer 2021 Collection which ended up garnering 120.8 million views
according to the fashion house records. Rosé not only does work for the brands,
but makes appearances at fashion shows. On the 24th of September 2019, the vocalist made her
first appearance for YSL Spring 2020 Ready to Wear. The collection was a reiteration of classic
brand offerings such as Lesmoking and Russian-themed prints executed within a 1976
street and rockwear-esque look that Vocorello adapted into a more delicate type of offering
through his fine and elegant sensibility. The collection holds an easy romanticism of style
that is unique to the brand. Rosé was seated front row alongside other artists such as actors and
musicians. The collection's atmosphere was suitable for the artist due to the sensation
of the city and concert-inspired atmosphere, which can be referenced in Rosé's visuals.
Her outfit matched the occasion, a classic Lesmoking-style jacket with a matching black
YSL bag and heels. To attend her second show, Fall 2020 Ready to Wear, Rosé again wore a head-to-toe
YSL look featuring a velvet blazer, a button-white dress shirt, micro-tuxedo shorts,
knee-high brown boots, and a cross-body bag. This look is styled and referenced from the
previous show she attended. The new collection practiced restrained elegance while remaining
bold through a riff of empowering designs that hold sex appeal with a focus on endorsing women's
rights to express themselves. After viewing this collection, Rosé would go on to wear
garments from it on multiple occasions such as promotional appearances and editorial work.
Rosé made an appearance in the October 2019 issue of Days with a showcase of her ambassadorship
that features three different types of cover for Rosé. In an interview for this publication,
she stated,
YSL has powerful feelings. The silhouette is very nice, neat, and angular, a sharp outfit
rather than a bold one. She made another solo appearance in Days with a more laid-back style
featuring chic staple offerings of the brand as a softer vibe with a bit of edge that Rosé is
often seen in along with the sharper outfits. For W Korea April 2020, again in collaboration
with the fashion house, Rosé did a more personal shoot in one look she is sporting a single-breasted
jacket and velvet and silk high-rise syrup leggings and jersey, Cassandra platform sandals
in patent leather with a black monogram. In another look, she is wearing the classic
teddy jacket with an embroidered YSL logo design on the back, tailored mini-shorts,
and high boots. On another shoot in the black-and-white portraiture
themes of YSL, Rosé modeled the clothing for Elle Korea July 2020 posing very elegantly
and going for a more polished look, showing the versatility of her looks,
personality, and creativity as an artist and global brand ambassador.
Often on group shoots, Rosé wears YSL as the other members wear pieces from their
fashion house with group shots in cover along with personal shots of each of the members' looks.
In a promotional appearance for the Blackpink Full Album Comeback press conference along with
the rest of the members in 24-365 Blackpink Episode 15, Rosé again wore garments from YSL
Fall 2020 ready-to-wear, specifically the red plaid ensemble that opened the show.
On another promotional appearance, Rosé can be seen in the YSL plunge v-neck fitted dress.
For the album jacket making film, an eye-catching look accessorized with gold jewelry that flatters
the body and exudes a cool, sexier, yet very classy aura. In her day-to-day life, Rosé wears
a comfortable, cool, and chic style that is elevated by her sleek and pristine accessories.
Rosé is often sported traveling in YSL. For a more classic look, she is wearing the single-breasted
jacket, white button-down adorned with a silk polka-dot tie, mid-rise skinny jeans, and black
heeled boots. A clean and proper ensemble, it is timeless in nature, a signature silhouette of the
YSL fashion house. In another airport outfit, she is in a more cool, unique look with an alternative
lenient that holds the base foundation of the same silhouette previously with a feminine lenient,
but now instead is in a cropped officer tailcoat, pointed collar blouse, the same denim, knee-high
boots, and the Nike bag in medium and vintage leather. A cooler look that holds the same proper
essence but brings in the rock and roll part of her aesthetic. Rosé's current unique,
cool, and artistic style is one that has developed through her ambassadorship
and allowed her to have very dynamic, graceful visuals to complement her vocals and work as an
artist. The synergy between Rosé and YSL is one that celebrates and empowers through creative
pursuits and the image of the founder who adored the arts. Their impact together is powerful and
holds a great influence within both the music and fashion industry. As Rosé in hand of creative
director, Anthony Vaccarello contribute to the narrative of the fashion house,
carrying on its legacy through their art together. I hope you enjoyed this video,
