What's up everybody? It's Friday of the Freedom 500. Travis and CJ came in early, decided to try
and really make a last ditch effort to get enough done on this thing to get it to crank. So I'm
building the return line for the fuel system. Travis got the main battery ground and power run
to the front of the car to the starter, got the starter installed, got all the grounds done.
We've got some stuff to still do at the track, which this video won't come out until after
today has happened anyway, but we're cranking. There's a good chance. So those of you that have
already been to the Freedom 500 or Cletus and Cars will already know if we got it to crank or not,
but at this point we're optimistic it's going to crank. Now we still, well we could still have
problems. We've got a fuel system that could have leaks. We've got a transmission cooler
line system that could have leaks. We've got radiator hoses that could have leaks.
So we're gonna even try to smash some brake lines on the thing real quick, just using
flexible lines instead of bending up the hard lines like the final fitment is going to be,
but we're close. So cross your fingers. Let's see if we can make this happen. Here we go.
All right everybody, we are pulling into the Freedom factory. It is about one o'clock on Friday,
day of event. Proceed to the route. Here we are. Let's see what we encounter here at the track.
There's already a boatload of people that they've already let in.
This is insane. All right everybody, we are here. We are going to unload mullet.
My people came up here and we set up our merch tent before I even got here.
Awesome down here. So where you guys are going to be walking into the infield of the track
for the burnout stuff, we are right here beside that. Mullet's going to end up right here in the
corner. Here we go. Good morning, everyone. Actually, it's a great morning. It's the day
after we won the Freedom 500. I still can't believe it, but anyway, even as great as that
was last night, we're still going to try and get mullet to crank today. Hopefully,
the wind's not too bad for you guys today or right now, but it's really windy. It's actually
kind of chilly even all the way down here in Bradenton. I think it's in the middle 50s right
now. It's cold. It's cold. It's really cold for us Florida people, but we've got some wiring stuff
left to do. We're going to actually get front brakes on the car. The fluid lines weren't done,
so we brought our hoses and fittings to temporarily put some flexible brake lines
on it from the master cylinder to each front corner. The plan is to hard line those in
stainless steel hard line, but for today, we want to possibly be able to drive the car around.
I mean, still a long shot, but if all the wiring's good, the thing makes oil pressure,
makes fuel pressure. We stand a good chance of it cranking, so we are going to get at this,
see if we can make a crank. See you guys in a bit. All right, everybody, we're starting to get some
power through the car. I am logging into the ECU because I want to update the ECU to the latest
firmware just because this is an older ECU that we've had for a while while we've been trying to
get the build put together. CJ's putting oil in it. I still have a few things to wrap up with the
injector harness. We still have to do cam and crank sensors. We have to do an O2 sensor harness
or an O2 sensor plug, so we want to download to you. Yep, yep, yep. Okay, so let's go ahead,
and we are going to update the firmware, upgrade firmware. So while this is going down,
we're going to keep working on our other stuff, and then I am going to,
so once this is going, which it should be right about now, we're going to continue working on
our other wiring stuff. I got to finish wiring up the injectors. As you guys may can tell from
some of the time lapse, we are literally just using butt connectors everywhere instead of using
connectors like our plan, but we're doing what we got to do to get the thing cranking today.
It says it's got 10 minutes up to go for the firmware update. CJ's putting oil in it right
now so we can get the thing tested for oil pressure. We took all the plugs out of it so
we can spin it over faster, and then we're also going to fill it up with fuel while we're trying
to prime the oil to make sure that it builds oil pressure and fuel pressure and we don't have any
leaks. Make sure we get oil at the turbos, and then we may be able to try putting a tune in this
thing and firing it up. So I'm going to get back to work. See you guys back in a few minutes.
All right, so I'm running. Seems to be a theme in this channel.
We forgot two little pieces that are very important to us finishing the wiring project
to get it to crank. So the two things we forgot were the ends of the cam and crank sensor plugs.
You might know those are pretty important if we want to make the thing run. So I got
permission from Garrett to go cut them off of Donnie's engine. So we're gonna leave. I think
Donnie's a little wounded anyway, but we're gonna see if we can cut the cam and crank sensor
out of this thing and keep and get mullet fired up. All right, Donnie gave up the two
connectors we needed. Now we just got to wire them in. So hopefully this all works
and then we will be making some noise with mullet. Fingers crossed.
All right, guys, we are ready for trying to prime the oil system and the fuel. Hey,
you want to run over all of the just run over all the fittings or be ready to check all the fittings?
Then mostly the one that's at the back, you know, that's the one I'm most worried about.
CJ, how much fuel you put in it? Perfect. All right, so injectors are unplugged, right?
All right, I'm going to try and make oil pressure. I got the coils unplugged too. Okay.
Got RPM. Oh, one psi, two psi, three. There's oil pressure. See if we're moving fuel.
Hey, fill that thing all the way up. All right, well, oil pressure's half the battle.
If we got the dadgum fuel pump backwards again, I'm gonna be aggravated with myself.
Yeah, man, for sure. To the bottom. All right, everybody clear?
Way to make oil pressure instantly. Pump's spinning and everything. It's got the belt
on it and all that crap. Okay. Take the line loose off the top of the pump and see if you
can get some fluid to move through it. Or take that line off the filter and we'll just aim it in
a bucket because I don't want to spray fuel everywhere. All right, I'm gonna bump it and
see if you get some. Now that it's off, the restriction's off. See if it feels like it's
sucking your thumb. Sucking your thumb. So moving any fuel. Hey, you got fuel? Man,
I took that thing. Pump apart. Well, it's got an eye on the inlet and I can just wing it,
but if it's flooding the motor with fuel, it ain't worth it. Huh? It might come back,
but it might not. And it's the uncertainty that if it's flooding the motor with fuel,
we just wash all the rings down in a brand new motor. And I can't tell that.
All right, guys. So what we think happened is we plugged the O2 sensor in without
making sure we had the right one selected in the Holley. And I think we smoked the O2 sensor and
I don't want to crank the engine and possibly wash it down with fuel not knowing what's going on. So
we're trying to find an O2 sensor and then we'll be back at it. Good? Kevin, congrats last night,
man. Thank you. All right, everybody step back. We're going to try something.
All right, everybody. Let's see if it works.
Map sensor looks okay. You got the injectors in? Boy, that starter sounds terrible.
You got all the coals hot? I smell fuel. I don't know.
Ready? So it cranked. Did you get the cap off of it? Okay. I did forget to turn the fans on
because we don't have any mess around with it. We are having some issues with the O2 sensor
communicating back with the ECU. Got a different O2. Same story. So I'm not sure what we've got
going on there. I don't have the secondary O2 harness to be able to just plug it into that
one and try it. So I'm not quite sure, but we're going to keep messing with it. Pull it back down,
crank it again, and maybe go drive it around and see what happens. All right. Well,
that's going to wrap up this video on cranking up mullet at the Freedom Factory. Mostly just
some raw footage of all the little issues we dealt with trying to get her to crank,
but it cranked. We had some success there. Now on to extra sensor wiring and all that other
good stuff. We'll be on the dyno pretty soon. Thanks for watching. We'll see you next time.
