Michi, the owner of ski manufacturer SPURart, guides us through his home town. Innsbruck is the capitol of Tirol also known as the Heart of the Alps. According to Michi, there is definitely a reason for this. The Hungerburg cable car to the Nordkette starts from the middle of the town centre, taking you to the top of the Hafelekar in just 20 minutes. The Oympia Skiworld region is not just the city of Innsbruck, but includes all the surrounding villages with 9 skiresorts to choose from. Michi takes us to the Kühtai area, only half an hour from Innsbruck. The whole region is accessable by bus. The public transport in the Olympia Skiworld is free with a multiday skipass, which you need to explore everthing Innsbruck has to offer. The Stubaier glacier, for example, is Austria’s biggest glacier ski resort. And Axamer Lizum and the Patscherkofel are where the Olympic Winter Games of 1964 and 1976 were held.
